We had an amazing family trip with our young adult daughters. The two bedroom master swim up suite was amazing, giving us the space we wanted and direct access to the incredible pool. Our favorite part about Zel - the people. The staff are incredibly kind and gracious, working hard to make sure everyone has a positive experience. Special shoutout for Yunior, our concierge (and now friend!). He went above and beyond to make our stay fun and relaxing. With his recommendation, we took a two island snorkeling trip to Catalina and Samoa through Otium tours. It was a long, super fun day exploring the beauty of the DR. Other highlights include the yoga classes, hydrotherapy spa, Neguri Beach, the buffet, social dance lessons, and again the Zel Staff. Note when leaving: give yourself plenty of extra time to get through airport security. It took us two hours.

Zel is a beautiful experience that feels more like a lovely boutique hotel than a sprawling impersonal resort. The rooms are newly renovated with a super welcoming Mediterranean feel. The spa is immaculate, and pool areas offer spaces to gather as a group or break off and do your own thing. Tons of lounge areas. We never felt crowded. Overall a perfect vibe, close to the beach and excellent service where you're treated like family. Absolutely recommend Zel and can't wait to go back!

Here is a hotel that has the most beautiful grounds and lovely staff but it doesn't quite hit the mark. The staff are really nice and try very hard but they are too few. There is a distinct disparity also between the realy good staff and a lot of the other staff members. We feel that may be a training (or in training issue) Everything is good, food, staff, rooms, pools etc. But nothing is great. Response times are really long and service is by and large slooooowwww. The hotel and grounds are quite breathtaking from the grounds to the spa and surrounding areas. The spa staff were great and we had fabulous massages. The beach is lovely but it is a golf cart drive away and the resources (food lounges and umbrellas are very limited) The hotel has a calm peaceful vibe and it was easy to relax. The overall common area decor were well done. Rooms are large but need more lighting. The towels, robes and bathroom amenities are 3 out of 5. The soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers are always breaking so you need to unscrew the caps. Make sure you get a proper orientation of the hotel and services. The tennis. padel and pickleball courts are very close by and we had some great lessons with the pros. All in all we had an enjoyabe stay and a fun vacation. But it wasn't anything we feel we need to do again. We had the distinct feeling that the hotel was changing hands and a lot of staff were either missing or in training. Things definetely improved in terms of staff and timing as the 10 days passed

Zel was amazing and had so much to do in the resort. Getting to the beach was easy and the staff was incredible. Yunior made sure my family had everything we needed during our stay and was incredible the whole week.

The perfect Hotel for a peaceful and wonderful getaway with the family we will continue patronizing Melia every time we can it was amazing!!!!!
