Fairytale hotel in perfect location

ErinKH (Fairfax, Virginia) on Feb 24, 2024

We loved our stay - the location was perfect, our room was generously sized, breakfast was super delicious, and the staff was very kind towards our service dog. We enjoyed the Carnival activities that were a short walk from the hotel. Highly recommend.

A pleasant stay at the Fairmont

Getaway04381428633 on Feb 23, 2024

It was my second visit at the Fairmont Frontenac and again the experience was very pleasant. I stayed in a Deluxe courtyard view room this time and the room size is spacious for 2 people. The staffs at Fairmont are very professional and helpful and we enjoyed a complimentary Tobaggan ride at the Dufferin Terrace which is one of the must do in winter time. Parking is not cheap, $45 self parking/$50 valet. It’s on site parking building and I recommend to bring a smaller vehicle as the space is tiny. A suggestion to Fairmont which may enhance customer experience is to install a smart TV for streaming.

Phenomenal staff and great food

RogerM371 (Ephrata, Pennsylvania) on Feb 20, 2024

We stayed here for the Ice Festival. At every juncture, the staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. It is worth paying for a Gold room to get access to the 14th-floor lounge, which is a nice, quiet place for breakfast and a good place to relax in the evenings. I would recommend getting a river view room as the city views are somewhat marred by construction and industrial buildings in the distance. I would also recommend attending the free wine (glass) tasting arranged in conjunction with Riedel. The wonderful young sommelier hosting made it a very enjoyable and informative afternoon. The cheese plate at Bistro Le Sam was twice the size of what you'd get in the US. If we'd known that, we wouldn't have ordered additional plates at lunchtime.

Long review for ppl looking to go during holidays

ashleynicole111 (Fort Myers, Florida) on Feb 19, 2024

This review is a little late but here is my take on Christmas time stay at the Frontenac. We stayed from Dec 28th, 2023 to Jan 2, 2024. I can’t report on any other time, I do know Christmas is busy, we expected some inconveniences but not to the level we experienced. Sorry this is long. The hotel itself, specifically the lobby, outside areas, and restaurant areas were so unbelievably crowded, it was difficult for us as Gold Member guests of the hotel to navigate getting to the elevator to our room and other areas of the hotel. The capacity at which the hotel allowed outside guests didn’t seem to be managed at all. I do understand the appeal of the hotel during the holiday season, and certainly think public guests should be allowed…using a reservation system or wait list. Most people in the lobby and restaurants were not guests of the hotel. We had 3 reservations at hotel restaurants. The first, we waited at least an hour and were told to sit at the bar and they would get us. They never did. We asked 3 separate hosts during that time and no-one could answer why we as hotel guests and reservation holders were waiting over an hour and then forgotten about. Finally one host sat us, but at the wrong restaurant. (2 restaurants are right next to each other.) We were so hungry we just stayed there where the dinner was double the cost than at the restaurant we originally book, so I guess it worked out for them. The second dining was for New Years Day Brunch, where the line to get in was at least 100 people long, crowding up the entire hotel once again. We had a set reservation time, which we made through the hotel site months in advance and paid for. Once to the front of the line there seem to be no real system in place, someone heard me say my name didn’t check with an online system, only referred to a hand written floor plan. Then they said our table was not ready and sat us aside. We were so confused, since everyone else in front of us had gone straight to their table and even after they set us aside, were taking others to their table. After a few minutes, I tried to get the host and she clearly ignored me. Then she came back, asked to see our reservation confirmation which we had already shown, and annoyed at us she hustled us to an open table that had been open since they started letting people in. Mind you, this is day New Years day and BOTH me AND my husbands Birthdays. It was supposed to be a special day. Once in, the brunch was vast but IMO it wasn’t anything special, and we had to walk so far to and from the buffet. And it was over $200 a person I believe. The Last dining experience was for Holiday Tea. We have had many holiday teas, with one of the best being at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria BC, so we expected those standards. We DID get seated right away without any wait and had a lovely table. However The tea sandwiches were horrible and the scones had zero flavor. The tea was fine. We were offered a glass of wine when we sat down, the server presented it like it was complimentary, which didn’t seem too off base since it was about $200 a person (prepaid). Alas, when we got out check each wine pour was additional $40. The service wasn’t great either. We had a couples massage at the Hotel “Spa”. Fair warning, do not go to this hotel and think that the Spa is up to the standard of a 5 star renowned hotel. Its is not. I would not spend a dime in the spa portion of this hotel. The masseuses did not seem trained or maybe new to the craft. I have never wanted a massage to end so badly and later heard my husband felt the same. It was basically someone rubbing oil gently over my body. It was very uncomfortable. During our session the use a CD disc changing for the music. What century are we in? The CDs kept skipping or ending and the masseuse had to get up about 10 times throughout the session to try to fix/change it without luck, taking time from our massage. They do not give you robes or take you to a changing/locker room. You just go straight the the room, which is just an old converted guest room. When it was time to leave we met our masseuses outside the door, they said they were supposed to give us water but they didn’t have any glasses (IN A HOTEL?) but that we should drink a lot of water. I do believe that the spa is contracted in to the hotel but if I ran a hotel of this caliber, I would definitely make sure they it is representing the hotel in a good light. Here are some highlights. The Valet staff were AMAZING!! They hustled and really ran the place which says a lot given the amount of traffic coming in and out the valet area. They all had fantastic attitudes and I really commend them. The front desk staff was very nice and efficient. Most of the servers/service workers we encountered were wonderful and had great attitudes. The Housekeeping staff did a great job. We Loved our room and our view. It was beautiful. The bed was lovely and the view was perfect to see the NYE fireworks. Bathroom was small but to be expected. The Gold Member Breakfast buffet was very yummy and the staff was kind and helpful. The view from the gold club was so pretty and that dining area was very well kept and nicely decorated. We really enjoyed it up there. At the end of our stay I reluctantly asked if I could to speak to a manager and they were not available so I wasn’t able to relay my feedback which is what I figured would be the case. For the price we paid to stay here, it just wasn’t worth it although it is a once in a lifetime place to stay. It could be so much better and that is were my disappointment comes in. They need to be using best practices and current systems for the restaurant reservations and spa. And definitely need to implement some way of managing crowd control during holidays. Maybe off season its better?

25th Anniversary Trip

FruitWidow (Toronto, Canada) on Feb 19, 2024

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this spectacular hotel and couldn’t be happier with the entire experience! We stayed in a Signature Gold Level room and were wowed by the attentive service and amenities. We took advantage of the beautiful breakfast every morning and drinks each afternoon. The staff were polite, friendly and always happy to help with any request. Our room was spacious, comfortable and immaculate. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view from the turret. I highly recommend staying at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac! Choosing this hotel as our Quebec City home base made a special anniversary even more memorable. We can’t wait to return!
