Ho Hom Experience

rosetea100 (North Carolina) on Jan 10, 2026

My friend and I have a tradition of enjoying a special tea whenever we travel, and we’ve been lucky enough to experience memorable teas at places like the Ritz in London and the Plaza in New York. We were especially excited for afternoon tea at the Fairmont, but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The service felt lackluster, we were seated in a cramped corner by a door, and the dining area itself was underwhelming and sparsely decorated. Most of the pastries were largely inedible, though the tea itself was fine. We had dressed up and were really looking forward to the full experience, so it was disappointing that it felt much more bland and unremarkable than anticipated.

Gorgeous, but not ideal for a large group.

Philadelphia345 on Jan 04, 2026

Went for New Year's celebration. The hotel is stunning from the outside. BREATHTAKING. Inside, meh. Really lacking communal space. We were a group of six, all staying in different rooms. The lobby had nowhere for us to sit and chat. There was a hotel bar, but there was a very long line for a table. (And it wasn't a casual spot to get a coffee. ) There was a little place off to the side of the entrance , but it had just a few chairs. The pool area was very crowded. Rooms were nice. We ate at the hotel restaurant. Beautiful and tasty. The bar had lovely cocktails.

Chateau d’Frontenac

I am a historian and everything about this wonderful hotel just made me happy. The central location made it easier for walking through the old city and getting to some superb restaurants . Staff were friendly and helpful, and the ones I encountered were the epitome of excellent service. The food, ( I cannot say enough about the quality and presentation), at all the dining facilities was beyond reproach. I picked this hotel because of its history and was pleased the level of service matched its historical value.

Wonderful Stay

ivytravel (Fairfax Station, Virginia) on Jan 01, 2026

From arrival to departure, our three night stay over Christmas was wonderful. Every staff member we encountered were friendly, efficient, informative and approachable. Dinner in Le Bistro was very good and service in the lounge on 14th floor was so well organized and everyone so helpful and attentive. We look forward to visiting again in the fall.

Historic hotel, but our view was blocked

Glenn G (Durham, North Carolina) on Dec 30, 2025

Our tour group stayed here during our visit to the Quebec Christmas markets. This is indeed a grand hotel with a beautiful exterior and interior. We enjoyed their high-end shops, pool and sauna, and holiday decorations. We also had a lovely afternoon tea service. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel a 5 rating is that our room on the second floor faced a wall. Imagine being in a landmark hotel and having no view. Room was spacious enough, clean and mostly quiet, except for our last night when several guests kept chatting in the hallway as the entered an exited their rooms.
