Great !

Passport778642 on Sep 22, 2023

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on the gold floor. The room was great and I believe they also upgraded our room which was wonderful. The hotel is located in the prime location as well. It is right in downtown and all the attractions are walking distance from the hotel as well. The gold lounge served snacks/appetizers and breakfast as well. Everyone was friendly and professional there as well. The breakfast at gold lounge was great and also had too many options to choose from. But as being vegetarians we did not have any options to choose when appetizers were served. They only 2 salads and nothing else while on the other hand there were a lot of options for non-vegetarians. That was one of the drawbacks. We went to the gold lounge a lot of times. We noticed that everytime we went there they asked us the room number and asked how we were doing and everything and welcomed us to have breakfast or appetizers. But when anyone else came they welcomed them as well but were escorted to a table. We went there so many times but were only escorted once. So we did not feel good about that. We felt we were not given the same treatment as everyone else was. But all in all the hotel was great, the room was great and location as well.

Great hotel with smaller challenges

DWGermany (Dusseldorf, Germany) on Sep 19, 2023

We have stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in a Gold room on 12th floor. The hotel is really great, all service staff was very friendly and professional. The gold lounge on 14th floor offered great snacks and a relaxing atmosphere. Just the manager/ chief waiter of the pool bar appeared really arrogant hence we left the space after 5 min. That needs a change. The room was really nice, the view excellent but the cabin and bathroom was far too small that is a clear minus as it only fits 1 person which is poor on that level. The restaurant offered a really tasty dinner with a great view on the river. All in all it isn‘t cheap and if they fix the issues it would be a five star worth the money.

Great experience but not perfect

Debbie T on Sep 18, 2023

My Mom and I stayed at this iconic hotel for 4 nights. It is in a perfect location and we had a wonderful suite, looking out onto the St Lawrence River. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful, with just a couple exceptions - one being the valets at the front of the hotel, who didn't help us get our luggage out of or into a taxi, or up the stairs into the hotel - they weren't busy so I can only assume that they didn't want to help us with this as we didn't need a luggage trolley so a tip might not be forthcoming??? (but that is only a guess). The only other staff who wasn't helpful was an older man who came to sort out why we weren't getting any heat out of one of the registers - he was quite rude to us, although we were very polite to him. He did solve the problem but his attitude was poor. Otherwise, the staff were very kind, especially Nathalie, who cleaned our room. It was nice to come back to a room that was all put back together, after our outings! I was concerned that when we first checked into our room, the garbage hadn't been fully cleaned - we had someone else's airline stub in the garbage, etc. That seemed strange. My biggest concern was that we told the staff at check in that we didn't need any help with our luggage, as our suitcase were easily rolled. But, no one told us that we would have to climb 6 stairs to get to our room, once we got off the elevator. I had my elderly Mom with me, so I had to support her every time we went up or down the stairs, and I had to lug 3 large suitcases up the stairs as well. So, my suggestion is that if you have any mobility challenges, you check to ensure that you are not placed in a room where you have to manage stairs. We loved the pool - it was about 50 feet long, perfect for swimming lengths. There were flutter boards, pool noodles, and children's lifejackets available. And for comfort, there was a water cooler, green apples, and a coffee/tea maker. The change rooms were well equipped. The pool was open from 7 am to 9 pm. There was a lounge outside the pool where we spent a few hours laying out in the sun reading and that was nice. We didn't access the 24 hour gym. We had some medication with us and had booked a mini fridge for our room. That wasn't present when we arrived, but when we called to enquire, one was brought up quickly. I thought having to pay a $25 per day experience fee was strange, but we made use of it by booking one tour each day - a walking tour of Quebec, a tour crossing the river to Levis, on the ferry, and a "siege of Quebec" tour. All the tours were great, and included with this fee, but a reminder is that you had to register with the concierge ahead of time. The hotel couldn't have been in a better location. We walked everywhere and enjoyed ourselves. It was a birthday trip for my Mom and she appreciated the birthday card and nougat left for her in our room. We didn't eat in any of the restaurants at the hotel, but on a prior stay there, I ate ate Le Sam, and it was very good. So, a wonderful trip, with a few minor concerns. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

THE PLACE TO STAY IN QC

married96 (Fernandina Beach, Florida) on Sep 17, 2023

Back to stay for a second time after 6 years and still the best. This time had a nice room (3259) which overlooked the boardwalk and river - what a view. King bed was comfortable and nicely furnished room. Convenient to elevator and the staff was friendly & helpful.
