Stunning place

A7015WAlindab (Apsley, Canada) on Aug 09, 2022

Very expensive but the services and staff make this truly a world class experience which may make the other places you have stayed seem not much better than ordinary. This truly historic edifice is like staying in a museum.

Somewhat disappointing.

Ariarianne (Montreal, Canada) on Aug 08, 2022

When we arrived on Sunday evening at 4pm, our room was not ready. We had to wait an hour in the lobby with all of our luggage. We didn't get any compensation (I don't know, a drink? A late check out the next day? An apology?) For the wait. The room was ok but nothing impressive given the price. The"city view" was a tiny foggy window and a view on the roof. Our daughter was excited about going to the swimming pool but it was broken. We had "free" ice cream tickets offered to us at the check in but the ice cream store was closed. I was excited about the activities (yoga and so on) but there was none during my stay. So we had many little disappointments which made the experience not so good. On the other hand, our dog was treated well, she was given a toy and treats and other little gifts which we found really thoughtful. The continental breakfast was delicious with good regional cheeses, rooftop honey from the castle itself, smoked salmon, homemade jams, etc. The area, of course, is full of history and very charming, but crowded with tourists. I would give it 2 and a half stars.

Fantastic experience!

AnuRH67 (Naperville, Illinois) on Aug 08, 2022

We immensely enjoyed our stay here. The location was really great with wonderful views of the St. Lawrence River, easy access to everything in Old Quebec including the Petite Champlain. It was easy to walk everywhere. The Governor's promenade so pretty. The Dufferin Terrace is full of live entertainment, the fireworks on Thursday night which were truly spectacular over the terrace. We loved our dinner at Le Sam sitting by the window - Our waiter Louie was was just incredible as were the cocktails, the bottle of wine, our food and dessert. He brought out a special dessert for my niece who turned 21. Truly an amazing night. The bar was wonderful - again service was great with excellent bartenders and even the hostesses. The hotel rooms were lovely as was the terrace. I used the gym everyday which was very clean and had everything I needed. The hotel staff were all very helpful and made things easy from the bellman to the concierge and guys out front getting us taxis quickly as needed. The cleaning staff was great - the rooms were super clean and they got us everything we asked for. The lobby of the hotel is beautiful. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Chateau Frontenac - it made our visit to QC just perfect. The hotel also sent us an advance email about the Pope's visit and the road closures which made it easy for us to share with the taxis that took us to the hotel, to avoid the road closures. We also got to see the Pope as he came by the Chateau Frontenac!

First Time Visit

440lmc (Crystal Lake, Illinois) on Aug 08, 2022

We had a meeting in Quebec City and stayed at the Fairmont for 4 nights. Beautiful, busy hotel, with helpful staff. I was excited to get to the pool, only to find there were no stairs to enter or exit. Ladders work for folks with good knees…not for the rest of us who need the pool to exercise and swim for health. Never was able to use what is part of the amenities!

Good stay but disappointed with communications from Frontenac about impact of the Pope's visit

Journey1007 (New York) on Aug 08, 2022

The Frontenac is a fantastic hotel with great service. However the lack of communication about impact of the Pope's visit was horrific. We were due to drive to QC and check in on July 28. There was no communication that this would have been impossible due to road closures. So disappointing, expect far more from such a world class institution. If we hadn't called we would have sat in traffic for hours and been unable to reach the hotel. Likely we would have turned around and cancelled our trip. Only when we called and inquired on July 26 did we realize the issue. We were able to change the dates of our trip but that was quite inconvenient and cut the length of our vacation. The Pope's schedule was public weeks in advance and if we had known earlier it would not have been a problem.
