Great childhood memories

Meredith D on Apr 18, 2026

I haven't been to San Diego in years, but used to stay at the Bahia for a week every summer back in the 60's with my family when I was growing up. Drove down from our house in L.A. We used to have a kitchen, and I learned how to sail in the bay. Loved to visit Sea World and the Zoo. Miss those days!!

Some Great Features / Room was Below Expectations

yago446 (Stamford, Connecticut) on Apr 15, 2026

There's a lot to enjoy - the grounds were beautiful including the private beach on Mission Bay, awesome views and sunsets, wooded area, pool, water sport rentals, restaurant with outdoor seating. However, the beachfront room was lacking - dated, dark decor, and average cleanliness (bug in sink). Black-out curtains were good for sleeping but left no option for light /filtered privacy (room was a few feet from public walkway). I'd consider returning to the resort for the overall experience, but only if the rooms were updated -- currently it's not worth the high cost.

Old Rooms, beware of Rm 222

Tara W on Apr 12, 2026

We stayed at Bahia Resort this past week 4/9. Driving from two days of Legoland. We were tired and just ready to settle into our new place. We were given Room 222 Garden View. This room is right in front of a kids playground, literally 2 feet away-so noisy and no privacy if opening your window. The room smelled so bad- like old musky outdated room. All I could think is that we were breathing in some kind of mold. I have a 7 year old daughter. I don’t need her breathing in moldy air. There was a chunk of hair on the floor and the silver cheap stand by the toilet was severely rusted up. Everything outdated. I tried to air out the room, but it didn’t help. I hate to complain so we left the room for a couple hours, but when I returned I was almost in tears thinking of how beautiful this resort looked online and now here I was stuck in one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. How deceiving the photos are. I took a deep breath (not in that room) and walked to the front desk. The employees were all great and the manager helped get us another room right away. If anything I loved this place for the staff. The CEO of this place needs to budget in some remodeling and air safety of these older units. We loved the seals and their story. The Dockside Restaurant was amazing for breakfast (except a 10 minute wait at 7:30am when there were only two tables filled in the whole place). Pool and beach side was great as well. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay better.

Not as advertised

Amy B on Mar 30, 2026

Photos were really deceptive. Resort is very dated, rooms smelled like mold and pets, sketchy vibes, pot smell. Do not be fooled. Do not prepay.

Great time at the Bahia

haworth1 (Phoenix, Arizona) on Mar 30, 2026

Our first time at this resort and it did not disappoint. We stayed three nights and loved it so much we added on another night. What a great location. Mission Bay Belmont Park, restaurants, shops and ocean all within walking distance, but you really did not have to leave the resort. The room, the private bay and pool were great, and what made it stand out above other places is the great personnel. They are so friendly and accommodating it's amazing. Grandkids also had lots of fun with the scavenger hunt and loved the two rescue seals. We highly recommend.
