Location ok, but room experience was not great
Nomad09315332131 on Jun 06, 2026
The location was a 5 minute walk to Old Town, but the attractions were closed. The room was spacious but they gave us an accessible room that we did not reserve for. The bathroom looked clinical with all the accessible parts. The second day, they fixed our bed and cleared garbage and gave us fresh towels but the floors were not cleaned. there were used floss on the floor. The room location was very noisy and could hear people opening and closing the corridor doors. Breakfast was the usual and it was good. One of the bedroom lights did not work. I did not like the room. I could not sleep in because of the noise. We did street parking and no need to pay the 30 dollar parking. Staff was good.
Items stolen from my room.

I could not recommend this hotel less. Not well maintained and upon checkout it was noticed that a pair of $400 Beats by Dre headphones were missing from my room. The hotel “helped” look for them but to no success (even though on the “find my” app, it said they were still in the building) I was informed that if the staff said they didn’t take them, there is nothing that Marriott can do. It was also told to me that the only way to truly prevent things from going missing from your room is to A. Not leave things in your room at all or B. Take your valuable items to the front desk and have them lock them up in the safe in the office…
Good location near the Old Town

This Fairfield location is pretty good. the rooms are clean and its a large compound. Best part is that its in a great location.. just short walk from Old Town filled with lots of restaurants and attractions. It's not a fancy place, and its pretty loud inside the rooms during the day as its next to a busy street, but its a good place to stay if you are visiting Old town.
Needs major renovation

Like other reviews, this hotel did not feel like a Marriott. Cleanliness - The hotel hallways and room weren’t clean. It felt like we were staying in a motel. The carpets were dirty and ripped. The curtains had holes. The ceiling was so low that even our kids could reach it! Plus, the ceiling had holes in it. The tub was creaky. When you took a shower, it felt like the tub was going to cave in. The bathroom smelled like sewage. There wasn’t any place to hang our wet towels from our shower. We had to hang them in the closet. Space - The room space was incredibly tight for four. There was minimal walking room. We had to use the desk to place our luggage. Safety - The area did not feel safe at all. Parking - The garage’s clearance was way too low (5’8). Getting an SUV or truck in/out of that garage would be risky. We weren’t happy with our stay at all (The only positive was the gentleman who checked us in. Customer service at check in was fine.). We couldn’t do an early check out because we were here for a soccer tournament so our reservation was locked in with the team, but there was no way we would stay for another night. Thus, we kept our two night reservation with this hotel and used points to stay at a different hotel on our second night in San Diego This hotel needs a major renovation. Otherwise, it should not be part of the Marriott brand.
Great stay!

Loved breakfast and the pool/hot tub! Hotel was kind of tricky to navigate, but great location in old town. Front desk was very helpful too.
