Fairfield with a boutique feel
Susan G (Ventura CA) on Nov 14, 2024
Yes it’s a Fairfield nestled in Old Town and has that vibe. It had been upgraded and updated, lobby is inviting and Charisma at the front desk is always smiling, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are clean, updated and quiet. Pool and hot tub area are surprisingly large and beautiful. Some rooms have small balconies overlooking the pool area. All in all a great find.
Welcome!

I am writing this review because of the wonderful front desk staff member, Karizma at the Fairfield In - Old Town San Diego. It is so important for the first staff member you meet at a hotel, welcome you with open arms. Karizam, was so enthusiastic and genuine, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we walk into the hotel. The hotel experience was short but sweet. Thank Karizma, for the great work you do, representing the hotel in such a great manner! John Cowles Oakville Ontario
Great atmosphere in a great location

I was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this hotel. It was clean, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The continental breakfast was surprisingly yummy and they changed up the hot options daily. The 24/7 free coffee and tea were a huge bonus to a pair of insomniatic parents who were hitting all the kid-friendly tourist spots. The pool was heated and clean. The hot tub was nice and toasty, though the jets could have had more pressure, but that's our only complaint and it's minor. We were the only ones using the pool (I suspect this was because we stayed Monday - Friday), so we felt like it was all ours. It was prefect for our 7-year-old as it was a consistent depth of 3.5 feet. She could touch the bottom with no issues and we could still comfortably swim it, too. There was also a shower and bathrooms at the pool and the pool towels were always stocked and clean.
Fairfield Inn old Town San Diego … Good and bad

When I saw the old Mission style building rustic , and close to old town , prefect for a getaway for a couple . Came in on Saturday , early check in , after talking to front desk , afraid of the road noise right outside the window , I say please , make sure we can get a room that is quiet . I was assured room 236 had no one complained. by far . Wrong. the worst room I had for a Long time.. elevator right out the door . Key card entrance to another hallway right outside the door . Noise all night plus the A/C comes on where we have to turn up the TV volume . They redeemed themselves second night by moving us to third floor, little balcony , beautiful room . So my advice , there are bad rooms that can ruin your night. Make sure you get a front desk clerk who is helpful . No bar on the premise but free Breakfast . I can say , clerks make a difference .

I can’t believe this place is a Marriott, pictures and price are totally deceiving, looks disgusting and area looks dangerous. Thank God we only stayed one night after a late flight arrival and used points . The front office cleric was very polite and offer us ‘free parking’ as courtesy due to how far our room was , I thought was included in such a high price for could only be categorized as a motel, at best
