Good stay at big and busy hotel

Octobertraveler (Seattle, Washington) on Sep 24, 2023

Good solid large hotel in a great location. The rooms could definitely be updated as they are very 90’s but the service/staff/views and location are all great. Beds are very comfortable. I’m a Bonvoy Platinum member and was given one of the higher floors of 29 as a perk however, the elevators are somewhat slow and tend to stop at many many floors on the way down (one time I counted 12 stops!) so I would actually prefer a lower floor if view isn’t important to you. The executive lounge is temporarily located off the restaurant but normally it’s up on one of the higher floors. The lounge was ok- had a great candy bar and snacks but no free drinks at any of the times I was there (it’s an honor bar and you are charged). Drinks in the hotel lobby bar are great!

Restaurant for Breakfast

June Q (Vancouver, Canada) on Sep 07, 2023

We happened to have the wonderful Buffet Breakfast at the Marriott this morning. Wow. It was fantastic and I would definitely recommend. What made the entire breakfast though was the wonderful waiter we had. His name was Dwayne and he couldn't do enough to help us and make our visit absolutely perfect. In talking he mentioned his lovely family and how much he loves his children. It was a breath of fresh air to talk to him and he truly made our day. He is an excellent waiter and knows his job. A total asset to this hotel. June and John

Reasonable Marriott

RoamingScot (Glasgow, Scotland) on Sep 07, 2023

We stayed here for about a week in total, split over 2 visits. (Disclaimer - the visit was paid for mostly with Marriott Points. Also, as a high status member in the Loyalty program, we got some benefits that would not be available to all guests.) Overall, we found it to be a decent hotel, rather than outstanding. The location is good for tourists, being close to the waterfront, and only a few minutes' walk from Canada Place and the convention centre. Gastown is slightly further away, but still perfectly reachable on foot. We opted for a high floor room with a view over the harbour, and were glad we did - even just sitting and watching the seaplanes come and go was an interesting way to pass the time. Just be aware that some of the harbourfront rooms look towards the Marina and the 'industrial' part of the harbour, rather than facing the cruise terminal. Our rooms were a good size, clean and reasonably comfortable, although a bit dated. The bathrooms were also a good size and very clean, but the shower cabinet was rather small by current standards. The restaurant downstairs served decent enough food - not outstanding, but OK for an hotel restaurant. We did think that the high ceiling and large open space did make it feel a bit barn like. Couple this to the occasional very loud conversations/sports commentaries at the adjacent bar, and I wouldn't honestly describe it as an inviting place to eat. We used the Executive Lounge for breakfast, and found it much preferable - bright and airy, with a good view over the waterfront, and a pretty decent choice. Service was a bit mixed. Room staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful. The concierge desk was less consistent - some people were really helpful and capable, but there were others where we chose to come back later on if we noticed they were on duty. Reception staff were always helpful and friendly, but there really weren't enough of them. The night we arrived, after a long flight, we had to wait around 10 to 15 minutes while one person dealt with the queue of people - and this on an Saturday evening. All in all, we were happy staying at the hotel, and would choose it again for a stay in Vancouver. However, it was somewhere we found to be a good base to go out visiting, rather than somewhere we particularly looked forward to coming back to.

An unexpected upgrade

Antal (Woodford Green, United Kingdom) on Sep 02, 2023

We arrived to an unexpected and much appreciated room upgrade after a somewhat tortuous journey. The hotel is in a great location and we enjoyed our buffet breakfasts each day. On returning from our cruise, the hotel was happy to look after our luggage for the few hours before our flight, which was a real bonus. We are members of the Marriott loyalty scheme which does offer a few perks!

British Columbia Vacation

GlobeTrotting778510 (Burbank, California) on Aug 30, 2023

We stayed at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle four nights as part of our British Columbia vacation. It has a superb location in a safe, walkable neighborhood close to Canada Place, the Seawall, and the Olympic Cauldron. The Marriott’s public spaces were pleasant, inviting and well maintained. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Considering it was in downtown Vancouver it was also quiet. This Marriott has even reinstituted daily maid service. They also have a nice pool and fitness center on the fourth floor. We made a wise choice when we bought a breakfast package with our room. They serve their breakfast buffet style with lots of fresh fruit, French Toast with real maple syrup and made-to-order omelets. It was great. Finally, the staff-front desk clerks, efficient servers and the super helpful concierges-were all top notch. But nobody is perfect. Midway through our stay, we rented a car. Their parking garage was tight, had lots of concrete pillars and ingress and egress was very difficult. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle and would return.
