SCAM

Gabriel A on Aug 04, 2026

No air conditioning during our three nights stay. The electric grid failed, the hotel's generator only covered lights and appliances. We had to sleep on the room's balconies. No other rooms, the lobby or buffet had AC. All the alcoholic drinks at the bars were diluted with water. You could see all the bottles they use are always pre opened, meaning whatever they pour has been altered. No coke or regular soft drinks anywhere in the hotel. Only low quality powder soft drinks. The cocktail selection super limited, since they didn't have liquor variety. The buffet very basic, with a lot of filler foods (shredded beet for breakfast?) and poorly prepared. The "International" restaurant inside was an insult, the portion and sides are ridiculous (pictured). On the good side the rooms were recently renovated, the beach is first class, and the staff is generally friendly. We would have left but there wasn't any guarantee that the other hotels around are in better condition.

Great hotel with lovely bungalows and best beach in the area. Can’t wait to see the updated swim up pool bar.

Great family vacation

I don’t usually write reviews, but with all the media surrounding Cuba right now I wanted to share about our trip. I’ve been to Cuba before and know what to expect in terms of food. This hotel did a really great job overall. A lot options in the buffet. Fish, chicken and steak grilled right in front of you. Various carvery options. Lots of pastries and omelettes for breakfast. Fresh fruit and veg was a little sparse. Lots of papaya every day. The staff in the restaurants were very kind and we found a favourite section where they always saved us a table. (We were a group of 9 and tipped well). The snack bars were ok. The snack bar in the bungalow area is better and not busy. Although less convenient to get to. We brought ketchup for the kids and they definitely used it! Personally I was craving peanut butter and jam by mid week and there wasn’t any there. The bar was well stocked. I was really looking forward to mojitos! They only served mojitos from 6:30-9:30. But the lady that made them was great, and I made sure to get at least one every evening. One of the pools was under construction which was a bummer. It really cut into the pool area and there was construction noise. I didn’t love that. But they left one of the pools open. The water was quite chilly, but the kids still got in. And the adults did as well when it was really hot. The beach was beautiful. There are cliffs to explore on either side of the resort that had some cool caves you can look into. There were high winds when we were there and we couldn’t get in the ocean as much as we would have liked. We stayed in the bungalows. And they were great. It was a good walk back and forth to the hotel and pool, but we didn’t mind. (Annoying when you forget something though) They were a bit dated, but clean and roomy. I really liked the option of not staying in the loud busy hotel. The staff were really great. So friendly, personable and kind. They honestly made the trip. We brought some gifts to give away. I ended up giving a gift to one of the beach attendants. (I wanted to try and give tips and gifts to the staff that normally get as much) He was so grateful and ended up weaving me a grasshopper out of a palm leaf. It was beautiful and really touching. Check in was quick and convenient. They had a golf cart to take us to the bungalow with our luggage. We did a catamaran excursion. Which was super fun and beautiful. We also did a day trip to Varadero. We ended up finding a van. He didn’t speak English but we managed to communicate a pick up time and spot and he took us back as well. In conclusion, I would say for what we paid it was amazing. The highlights were the beach and the people. I really hope Cuba remains open and people aren’t scared to travel there. We were treated really well and they did whatever they could to make it a good experience. I would encourage you to bring gifts if you can. Apparently meds are hard to get there right now. And based on the appreciation of the beach attendant I would encourage you to gift to staff beyond the room cleaners and waiters.
