Thank you for a fabulous week

We had a wonderful week at Playa Alameda. The loving, caring staff all around made it memorable. They truly tried their best to make the most of everything they could offer. Yennifer, Judith, all the staff from front desk, dining room, pool snack bar, beach bar, housekeeping, gardening all were appreciative, respective, and sincere and extremely helpful. There was lots of options in the buffet. The snack bar offered a variety of hot sandwiches and French fries. Variety of drinks offered in all the bars. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, but ready for mattress replacement. We didn't use the glass water bottles in the room, fear of dropping it. We bought plastic water bottles from the gift store. Grounds were well maintained and easy to get around. The new ramp walkway to the beach was an excellent idea. All in all, a great resort to de-compress, get pampered, and appreciate what we have.
Relaxing Resort

I stayed at this resort over the Christmas holidays with my family. It was our first time at Playa Alameda and we truly enjoyed ourselves. THE STAFF: Very professional, helpful, and kind staff. Everywhere we went, we encountered really nice staff, who seemed interested in helping or ensuring that we had what we needed. Everyone from the reception to the lobby bar, the two gift shops, the buffet restaurant, and beach were helpful. THE BEACH: Perfection. There were more than enough lounge chairs and staff available to help move them to the shade/sun, if needed. The sand was white and clean and the water wasn't too deep. It was so beautiful and even fun at night to dance on - which the resort did around NYE. THE GROUNDS/ROOMS: The grounds are large and have a wide boulevard-type path that is flat and spacious, making it lovely for an evening stroll. As you walk along the grounds, you will be offered a coconut drink, which is so sweet and refreshing! Our room was on the ground floor and newly renovated, which was an added plus. It was located in building ten, which we liked because it was close to the lobby and buffet restaurant. Our regular housekeeping was great! THE FOOD: The food for NYE was especially nice. They clearly made an effort to make this meal special. We also appreciated that staff went around asking guests around of time whether they had booked their table for NYE as they was various seating times throughout the night and this was well-organized. It was a very relaxing trip and we would definitely return. I'd like to give a special thank you to Yenifer from Guest Services. She made sure me and my family had some of our accommodations met and she went the extra mile to ensure this. It was a pleasure to meet her! *TIP* Take the bus into Varadero for the afternoon/evening. It costs $5.00 CAD and it's a double-decker that you can take directly outside the hotel and it takes you into the city. It's fun to wander and see what Varadero is like. The last bus returns at 6:00 p.m., but you can always take a taxi back into the resort.
Disappointing in comparison to other resorts in Veradero

This was my 4th trip to Veradero, and each of my stays were wonderful. This was my 1st time to This resort, and it was extremely disappointing. My expectations for Cuba are not high, so when you are reading this review, know that I am comparing my previous visits. The staff at this resort do not come close to other resorts ive stayed at. They only seem engaged 'after' you tip. The front desk/check in was brutal. Anything but professional. Our room was not ready until 5pm, and when we finally got settled in, the room was beyond dirty. Stained sheets, dirty floors, ants (not uncommon but more than normal), shower had no pressure & hot water was available after you run the water for 10 min. Sometimes we would get a bottle of filtered water in the room. The onsite store qas always sold out of bottled warer. The food as we all know isn't great but it was exceptionally bad at this resort. They did however redeem themselves on NYE where they had more options available. The resort is the furthest from town, and taxis are hard to come by. Rarely would anyone at the front desk be able to assist - we walked to the road to flag one down. No amenities - don't fall for that in their description. The pool was great although lounge chairs hard to come by. Beach was awesome - probably one of the better ones on the peninsula. I will venture back to Varedero but I would never stay here again.
Spectacular!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda Resort. I’ll start by saying that I loved this Resort! The reviews I read before going were 100% correct about the staff. Wonderful, gracious & accommodating. I met a number of guests that have been going back again & again. I’d like to recognize some of the staff in particular that stood out. Jessica, Yunito & Keyler from the entertainment coordinating and activities dept. No job was too small for them. They worked tirelessly providing poolside dance lessons and live performances, A plethora of talented artists & performers came and went at their direction. Morning, Noon & Night they always had something planned for the guests enjoyment. Stretching poolside or on the beach, target practice at the rifle range, daily mini parties & BBQ’s, live performances poolside, at the fountain and the nightly dance performances & magic shows at the large outdoor Teatro! Nightclub dancing etc. Possibly the hardest working dept IMO. Cynthia serving amongst many others in the buffet made every meal a delight. Maiali… the pasta station lady ready to whip up the pasta where you choose your own ingredients. ?? Tony among others working the Piano Bar & also serving the guests who gathered nightly by the large fountain near the lobby. From coffee’s to delicious pink G&T’s & more Tony was a consummate professional! Lizzy at the towel station and billiards tables always ready to play a game when I wanted to shoot some pool. Jose in security who works hard day & night to keep the guests safe and is always ready with a wave, a handshake or even a hug. ?? Very reassuring! Laura at the beach bar one among many serving drinks with a smile every day. The 24hr pool bar was a popular gathering spot with hotdogs, sandwiches, french fries, cervezas & Pinacolada’s aplenty available till the wee hours. A great place to interact and get to know other guests from across the globe. Last but not least Goire ‘The Pool Guy’ You know that pool water is perfect ???? when the birds all come to drink it. Always helpful with any questions that I had. Takes a lot of pride in doing his job well. There are of course many more whom I failed to remember their names or sadly didn’t write them down. The cleaning staff daily left some kind of sculpture made from the towels or the blanket leaving fresh purified water & a clean room. FOOD! After being told to prepare for mediocre food… I personally very much enjoyed the buffet and consider myself a picky eater. There was much to choose from but sometimes you had to look to find the little gems. The breakfast egg & omelette station was always popular. I would go back to this resort for the food alone. The beach walks were fantastic! The easy jump on & off dbl decker bus made a trip to Varadero simple & carefree. The local marina had shops, restaurants, a souvenir market and even a grocery store and was a short 10-15min walk away. We liked to take the sidewalk there and the beach back making for a pleasant loop back to the resort. All together I would recommend this resort to anyone looking to just relax and enjoy the sun, the beach, the pool and escape the wet & cold back home. I’m sure those younger might want a more exciting nightlife and I would suggest a larger resort might be better suited for that experience. Playa Alameda is a goldilocks adult only resort. Not too big, not too small, it’s just RIGHT! ???????? My Only real complaint is “they don’t have to put ham in all the bean & pasta salads.” People can add it if they want and any vegetarians would appreciate it no doubt…?? Any other issues regarding things not working were minuscule IMO & were a result of prioritizing or possibly a lack of direction from superiors as anything that I brought up was dealt with promptly. Cuba was hit by some big storms this past season and one can see the repairs & damage here and there across the peninsula if you look. SINCLAIR

Amazing resort . We were there over Christmas 2024 . The Christmas decorations made our day . Such a great job they did setting everything up for Christmas. The staff is awesome. Went over and beyond to make our vacation wonderful. Plenty of food choices to make everyone happy. The entertainment was so good . will definitely be back.
