The best resort in Cuba

Lawrence L on Mar 25, 2026

For over 20 years I've been visiting all-inclusive resorts in Cuba. Most have been in Veradero, although I've also been to a couple of resorts in the cayos. Memories Jibacoa is a gem above them all. Every member of the staff that I encountered during my four night stay made my vacation a pleasure. Whatever issue was presented, whether it was wanting flan for dessert or better hot water in my shower, it was attended to quickly and pleasantly. As you can read in probably thousands of reviews about Cuban all-inclusive hotels, you shouldn't be coming to visit Cuba for the food. This hotel was a remarkable exception. The food at the buffet always served something special. Their head chef deserves special recognition for providing food at a level I've never experienced before at an all-inclusive Cuban resort. Memories Jibacoa is not to be missed by anyone coming for a Cuban vacation.

Very amazing staff are social and the food was so great things to the amazing chief antonio and the excellent of the kitchen. Good time turned bad

theliveaboarddiver (Brampton, Canada) on Mar 13, 2026

I visited in November from Toronto. It was my third time at this quiet little resort. Good food, friendly staff and nice location. Like most of Cuba, in my opinion After a few days, I realized my Blue Jays jersey had been taken from my room. I reported it to staff, but they refused to accept responsibility. They searched my room and they were confident it was not there. The manager of the diamond level looked concerned but offered nothing. I asked to speak with a manager on Monday, but I was not contacted. I was sick at the time and didn't have the energy to give this the attention it deserved At this hotel, staff will come into your room to fill the bar in a very random way, and that is when, I believe,my jersey was stolen. It was the very end of the maids shift. At the time of this crime, I had a kids' bike I brought to donate, and I had a large bag of baby clothes to gift. The maid doesn't know enough to not bite the hand that feeds. I will not return and tell everyone of my negative experience.

The bad and the good at the MJ

Teri H (Calgary, Canada) on Feb 27, 2026

This resort is in dire need of updating! I'll start with the good parts. The resort is a nice size with enough restaurants, a nice-sized pool with plenty of loungers. The staff is all wonderful and attentive. Our favorite part of our vacation was the massages and reflexology. Very well priced, and Alejandro and Kenya were absolutely fantastic at their trade. I highly recommend! (I get massages often at home) Senia at the beach bar is our favorite of everyone; she was so sweet, engaging, and attentive. They make the best sweet buns and regular breads. I really miss those with my tea in the morning! All the animals (cats and dogs) made my days as I brought cat and dog food with me, I made a few furry friends and I also miss them. We did do the premium upgrade and found it to not be worth it AT ALL. We got nothing different than anyone else that didn't have it, aside from a *premium* dinner, outside that was horrible. We don't go to Cuba for the food by any means but the food here was the worst we've ever had. Seldom did you get anything hot unless you were at the pasta station (3 types of pasta and 2 sauces) or the egg station in the morning; there was never any bacon unless you asked for it. The only enjoyable food that was always spot on was the bread and the Cuban rice. The beach was a good size, although they never cleaned up the seaweed the whole time we were there, until the very last day, huge piles the whole length of the beach area, so you had no view of the beautiful sea. Our room, although spacious, was forgotten in the TLC department. The bathroom was beat, from cracked, dirty tiles to a toilet that looked like it was permanently urine-stained. The tub/shower combo was awful, a very high step into the tub, which is dangerous, and again, tile and grout in bad shape. The tile throughout the room looked dirty and needed new grout. We were quite shocked at the state of the room. Our lady who cleaned for us did a fabulous job, however, despite the disrepair. It is a shame because it could be an amazing place. know many are return guests, perhaps this is why they don't have it updated? If it were to be renovated and given TLC, I think we would go back, but the way it is now, no, we won't. It is the most rundown resort we have ever stayed in, it says it is a 4.5, but we would generously give it a 3-star rating .. staff get a 5-star though

Best resort/best people from our experiences in Cuba

Tamara S on Feb 22, 2026

Memories Jibacoa is by far our favourite place to travel to! The resort offers the relaxed atmosphere we are looking for. The food is the best we’ve had in Cuba! The people!!! The staff, the taxi drivers and guides, the locals and guests are all fantastic! All are helpful, courteous, polite and a pleasure to spend time with. There wasn’t any issues with supplies, toiletries or cleanliness. As this is a more remote location often taxis are the main source of transportation for sightseeing. Big shout out to our driver, Carlos and guide, Erik, who shared so much enlightening information. The grounds were immaculate and the gardeners that we interacted with were eager to please. Although all the staff at the resort was great and we didn’t get everyone’s names, there are a few people who stood out in our hearts. Yenisey Rios Balloveras from Premium did absolutely everything in her power to make our stay enjoyable. She does an amazing job and even just her smile can brighten a room! And David was also very helpful and pleasant. Dailenys, Oralys, and Raily Zabala Cruz at the lobby bar, although always very busy, were always very friendly and efficient. They knew what we wanted before we even asked! Roger, the guitar man and Estajovisch, the bartender at the piano bar made many evenings memorable and fun. Yenis Pilar and Osley Caro made the Premium dinners fun. The musicians, Neissen and Juan Miguel Pena at the Gourmet a la carte gave us several enjoyable evenings over the weeks we were there. Nelson, at the pasta bar and Yanet, in the buffet also added much to the enjoyment of our trip. Melisa and Melanis at the Premium breakfast and lunch always looked after us with a smile, even when they had to deal with being short staffed in the kitchen. Who cares if lunch took 2 hours? There was lots of wine and laughs! And the young lady at the Premium beach was so sweet. She even helped us identify some of the local vegetation. Lastly, Yendri, from entertainment, always added life to the day! Thank you to all the wonderful staff!
