4th Trip to Memories Jibacoa

This was my 4th trip to Memories Jibacoa and this time some of the magic for me has faded. It 1st started with the extreme disappointment with food options at the beach grill and many of the options I could have at the beach grill in the past are still available but only at the buffet. This used to be the highlight for food for me and the fact I was able to remain at the beach enjoying them ( ex: ice cream, cake, coffee, pizza, white rice). And how they do their breakfast a la carte was incredibly inconsistent and I like to choose my own food when it comes to cereal, fruit and sweet breads. So buffet was better with that regard. I would complain about this, but other Memories resorts have a small spread of selection for you to choose yourself and the a la carte menu and no tray. The tray was a waste most days for me and I hate to think they gave the food to someone else for sanitary reasons but I also hate the idea of it being wasted. On my 3rd day a fellow drunk guest broke the lock to my patio door and gained entry to my room as I was coming out of washroom from showering. I barely had time to put my towel up to cover myself, he screamed, I screamed and he left immediately but I then realized how unsafe those new locks are. I know the door was locked as i had checked it 20 min before. If I had left it unlocked it would have scared me far less. When I went to lock it again after he left and slammed the door oddly it was locked again. And I remember thinking maintenance and front desk will never believe me now. I got dressed and went to the front desk to request either maintenance block the door with something or to change rooms. I was shaken up. It's scary to have that happen because at 1st you don't know it's a mistake. Most people stop trying to open a door when it's locked. But he didn't so it was scary for minute. As I was explaining the situation to the front desk lady I got teary eyed. The lady at the front desk completely changed towards me and sternly told me to stop crying ( it's not like I was hysterical) and then made a call to housekeeping for a new room. While she was on the phone I could here her making the crying sound and laughing. I felt foolish. She would not listen to me that the door was locked. I was dismissed with that respect. She offered me a new room on the 2nd level of another bldg. Upon entering the room the a/c was broken. It was the most dated room probably on the resort. Not premium. And as I sweated the night away in my new crappy room with a hole in the floor of the bathroom hidden my the garbage can and a hole in the wall of the bathroom, I was visited my the biggest cockroach I have ever seen. I chased him back in the hole in the wall by the shower under the sink and plugged the hole. No further incidents the rest of the time. The a/c was fixed late that night but it wasn't until morning that you could feel the room getting cooler, as it was not working great. and it sounded like a loud truck rumbling in my room, which made sleeping a challenge. I did not dare complain because the front desk lady I dealt with the evening before made me feel so foolish and stupid that I was making a big deal and I was not. I didn't want to be given an even worse room if I dared complain. Basically I felt uncomfortable to say anything. The buffet some evenings felt unsanitary. Meat sat out in the heat uncooked and NOT on ice 4 of 7 nights. Otherwise the beach was amazing and drinks were actually decent this trip. Mojito's on point. No complaints there. If it wasn't for the few experiences that just took away some of the magic that's always been Jibacoa.

Great stay at Memories Jibacoa which is the Best Resort in Cuba. Super vacations surrounded by the amazing team. Lovely team. Great food and superbb service everywhere. We Will return Thanks a Lot for another memorable stay. You guys are the Best.
