Sol Palmeras was one of the best hotels I’ve been to in my whole life. It has 3 pools including the kiddie pool and the bar in between the pool and an activity shack and the room was amazing just need a shower door

Shabby place with empty swimmingpool

GreetS918 (Antwerp, Belgium) on Jul 31, 2022

In July, tourist season, there was an empty swimming pool (?!). Nobody could tell us why and for how long. Bungalows were old and shabby. Not at all worth the money. They claim to have 4 stars, they charge a 4 star price but are not worth that at all.

Two amazing trips to Sol Palmeras in 6 weeks

Eileen B (Hanover, Canada) on Jul 28, 2022

I was fortunate enough to go back to what I call "my happy place" in May and again at the end of June...visits #13 and #14. Although things have changed since pre Covid days, the resort is still a wonderful place to visit and the staff go out of their way to make your vacation a great one. The buffet is not self serve at the moment but many staff on hand to put the food of your choice on your plate. My problem was, they tried to give me too much and I had to keep asking them to remove some lol. Still a good selection of food, you will not go hungry. Many stations to choose from...salad,juices, yogurt, cold meat and different variety of cheeses, pizza, pasta, breads, soups, grill areas for chicken or pork...in the morning you can have eggs or omelettes made of your choice. Also a carving station offering either pork or chicken. In the center of the buffet is the hot food section with a variety of vegetables, rice, fries, pork, fish, chicken etc. Of course, can't forget dessert. Good selection plus fruit and ice cream . Big shout out to some of the amazing buffet staff. Idelmis, Mabel, Diansy, Aisier, Jaqueline, Maylin, Sandy and Nivia..sorry if I missed some. Although the resort has 5 a la carte restaurants, only 2 were open when I was there. However, they rotated them...what was Italian one night could be Tex Mex the next, This way you had the opportunity to try them all. The reservation desk is right behind the front desk, next to the small stage, and opens at 7.30 am. You need to go early as the spots fill up fast. I did hear yesterday that more restaurants will be opening very soon as the amount of guests increase. The beach bar also offers burgers, fries etc and some days they have a bbq down near there. Also a snack bar over near the Chinese restaurant that serves breakfast sandwiches and lunch. After midnight, you can have snacks at the Lobby Bar made freshly for you...the pizza is very good :) Many options for eating. Beach towels can be changed as often as you like in a day, I advise changing them before heading back to your room, less risk of taking sand mites with you. The towel shack just changed the hours the day before I left, now open 8 am to 6 pm and close for lunch. Alexis, who runs it, has the biggest smile ever, such a nice man. Pool bar, I think, is open noon to around 6 or 7, Lobby bar is 24/7 and outside patio bar is 6.30 to 10.30 weather permitting. What a fantastic crew in the Lobby Bar and Patio bar....Nivaldo, Pepi, Rene, Raime, Jorge, Betty, Alain, Ernesto, Nosbel and all the others.. The animation team work hard too with various activities. Nightly entertainment if the Lobby, outdoor shows in the evening. The disco has been closed because of covid but I heard it reopened last weekend. Beach party I think is on a Friday night. The grounds are beautiful to walk around, the gardeners are always busy. I usually go for a walk early in the morning. The beach is fabulous and very clean, lots of loungers available. The hotel is very clean, housekeeping do an amazing job keeping it that way. You can get the hop on hop off bus at the bottom of the driveway, the stop is just on the right side. I paid $5 Canadian cash for an all day pass. The sign does say no cash, credit card only, but most were paying cash. Two other amazing people are Wilbur in the office and Dayana in customer service. They both go above and beyond to make sure your stay is everything you want it to be. I am already planning visit #15 for October or November.

2022 Cuba Trip

RudyLalanSingh (Brampton, Canada) on Jul 25, 2022

Can’t say how much my family enjoyed this trip. We stayed in a bungalow right outside the hotel and it was very clean and well kept. Food was ok but we came for that amazing beach. Heydi and the other event staff was great keeping the kids entertained pool side with the activities. Night shows were perfect. Unfortunately we lost a day with Sunwing delayed our flight going from Toronto to Cuba. We will definitely be going back to this amazing place with those amazing people, need more time in Cuba next trip…
