Disappointing end to our Canada trip
jamesmQ5265QE (Chester, United Kingdom) on May 20, 2026
We booked the Hotel Grand Pacific because it was advertised as a luxury hotel in a prime location next to the Parliament Buildings, and we wanted to mark the last night of our trip with somewhere special. Unfortunately it fell well short. The room was run down, dirty and had a noticeable smell. Even after being upgraded, the carpets had stains, there was a broken plug socket, and the balconies were dirty. The mattresses are rock solid — we ended up requesting a topper, which was provided, but it made little difference. The aircon blows out warm air. The night before we stayed at the Delta in Victoria, which was significantly better and considerably cheaper, and literally across the bay. For the price point the Grand Pacific charges, and the way it markets itself, this hotel falls well short of expectations. The location is the only thing going for it. Would not stay again or recommend.
Pleasant stay

Our family picked Victoria for a short spring break and my sister in-law booked the HGP. This hotel had the perfect harbour location and we were able to walk everywhere, we loved that. We had rooms with very comfortable double queens beds, very quiet location and amazing view. We arrived early (1:00 pm) and could not check in but were able to register and leave our bags, time to tour. When we did return at 4:00 pm, the front desk tried to take a second deposit, strange but we worked that out. Our biggest complaint was paying $28 for parking which was 2 block away and located on a small gravel lot. Most of the time the lot was full and with limited parking in the area, we were able to leave our SUV on hotel premises. Would we return, absolutely, but sort out your parking issue.
Amazing restaurant. Rooms need modernising.

We spent a long time deciding between this hotel and the other well known one in Victoria. Ultimately we settled on this hotel having read the reviews about space. We paid for Signature Harbour View 1 bedroom Suite. It had two separated areas - one for living and one for sleeping. It had a dual aspect window overlooking the harbour and a side balcony. It was harbour facing but situated on the side, which considering we went for one of the more costly rooms, I was a little disappointed with as the view was restricted. The room itself was very dated. The carpets require significant cleaning. The door had areas painted in a different colour paint and the attention to details such as wonky light shades was disappointing. The breakfast in the Fathom restaurant was delicious. Really cannot recommend the granola enough!
Quick trip to Victoria!

Took a quick trip to Victoria BC from Seattle and we took the Clipper Ferry. This was very convenient walk from the ferry and close to everything downtown. We took the horse carriage short tour that is parked about a block from hotel, learned a lot and it was a beautiful ride. Hotel was clean and everything we needed in the room. Great beds, even had a small patio porch in our room. We were only there for a night but I highly recommend if you don’t have a car and would like to see the area. Restaurant next door at a small hotel was fantastic and budget friendly.
A lovely hotel.

This is an excellent hotel, well situated right on the waterfront with a great view of James Bay. It is within easy walking distance of attractions such as Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown. The hotel restaurant, Fathom, offers a fantastic choice of breakfast dishes and has a superb dinner menu. The staff are solicitous and knowledgeable. The hotel is making a strong effort to help the environment through its tree-planting programme for days when guests reuse their linens. The toiletries are among the best I have encountered, and they are placed where people under 5'3" can reach them! I recommend booking a room with a harbour view if possible.
