We travelled as a couple for our 1st wedding anniversary and we had a fabulous stay at this hotel. Firstly I think it’s so important to point out as I feel that TUI and the hotel were quite conservative to say “yes its accessible” due to this blame culture that we live in today, this hotel is ideal for wheel chair users. My husband has used a wheel chair most of his life however can walk with a stick occasionally and can transfer from seat to seta or bed etc. We booked very last minute and although no one would commit to an “absolute YES” they were very good to make sure our stay was pleast and stress free. The hotel is spacious, its mostly on the flat, every set of WCs we visited had a disabled access toilet, there were ramps down to the pool, and decking down to the beach where he was able to leave his chair in a safe place (Chill out bar which I will come too) and transfer to a sun lounger or take a slow walk to the sea. We stayed in room 8021 which was a junior deluxe suite- this was an upgrade curtsey of the hotel with champagne on arrival for our anniversary a very nice touch indeed, it was spacious which was important to us, the shower was walk in and wheel in if we needed to and there were grab rails available should my husband need them, the things that not everyone would notice. I could go on forever about the hotel- its lush and I’d go back in a heartbeat. However we have some special mentions, and these people really did make our holiday. Miriam- in the lobby bar what an absolute dote nothing was a problem she knew our drinks on the first day and always greeted us with a very warm welcome, an asset to the team. Deci- (I hope that is how to spell her name) in the lobby bar was lovely too I sampled my Spanish on her and she said I was brilliant much to my husband’s dismay! Ha Miguel- Chill out beach- what a guy!! As mentioned my husband uses a wheel chair. Miguel treat him with the upmost respect (as he does everyone) and dignity. My husband’s wheel chair is tailor made for him its expensive, we do worry about leaving it just anywhere- Miguel took great care in making sure this was put in the shade in a safe place where we and all the team could see it. Sometimes people don’t really know how to react around people with any disability, This wasn’t the case with Miguel it came natural he was such a gent offering an arm for Darren to get down from the decking setting his bed up for the day making sure it was close to most things and even helping Darren to the rest room if I was taking a swim, he really went the extra mile to make sure we were well catered for but made the whole experience so personable, we loved chatting to him and getting to know him, we have thought about coming back to Mexico- and we can safely say he’s one of the reasons we would come back to Grand Princess. Thank you for everything you done for us! Roxanna- Chill out beach- what a happy sole! She looked immaculate every day and always had such a smile on her face- she very quickly got to know our orders, and also to know us. Roxana was clearly happy at work and it made everyone around her happy it was great to see her happy face every day, and she clearly rubbed off on her team. Gustavo- as cool as a cucumber- what a fabulous addition to the chill out team. A young lad that clearly looks up to Miguel and what a teacher to have. He had respect for Miguel and you could tell he wanted to learn to get on and to do well. He was settling in very nicely when we left and I’m sure he will be Loved by the guests as he was us. The chill out bar is worth it I’d recommend the Breakfast over the evening meal . Once you’ve ate there you can use the chill out beach and its facilities for the rest of your stay, frozen fruits delivered to your bed, a frozen towel to cool off, ice pops wifi, decent music, matrasses on your loungers just little extras that go a long way oh and the odd chance to see Clive the crocodile! ? Over all amazing id be happy to answer any travellers questions as I really could go on for ever a beautiful hotel but the service from them above made this stay so pleasurable for us and I hope our sincere thanks can be passed on to them.

Where to start? Money stolen from the safe in the room, obviously by a member / members of staff which we only realized after leaving the resort. (First choice were not interested) It is when things like this happen that you can see a travel agents true colors. They have your money and pull up the ladder! DO NOT TRUST THE SAFE IN THE ROOM!!!!! LOUD music everywhere. Lively is good but nowhere to get away from it. Nightmare! 3 catamarans pictured for the use during your stay. 2 were in pieces and you could only use the third if you BRIBE the staff. Pools were in S*it order with black grout or missing altogether. We had staff doing running repairs to the pool while we swam around them. 1st room we had was like the black hole of Calcutta but after BRIBING a member of reception we got a better room. Bottles of spirits pictured in the room is the closest you get to it. Towels left on loungers 24/7 so you have to grab one where you can. Reception, bars and restaurants ok but pools not up to standard expected. Seaweed? wow. you cant get away from it. Jet ski got clogged about 6 times in half an hour. Not hotels fault but be aware. Ice machines in hotel not working and I tried several. Would i return to this hotel? NO would I go to Mexico again? NO. Would I use First choice again NO NO NO!!!

Best experience in service. Yara and her group at the platinum exclusive pool gives outstanding service. She made us feel special. She’s a great factor at our stay. Awesome at her job. The food is not that great, but there were a lot of choices. We got a good view at our room, sunrise and ocean view. Although the a/c needs more work. The room service is awesome, on time and accurate. I gave it a four out of five. I will definitely come back.

We have just come back from an 11 night stay at Grand Riviera Princess. I have written a list of all the positives and negatives we found at this hotel and I hope this helps when looking at hotels to book for your holiday! Advantages: Lots of restaurants to choose from, a massive range of vegetarian and also vegan foods available at each meal time. Lots of pools to chose from, one lively pool that has entertainment and music playing all day every day. 3/4 smaller, quieter pools which have swim up bars so it’s easy to get a drink. They also have waiters walking around the pools to get you drinks if you don’t want to get into the water. Lots of wildlife! Coaties (will write more about these in the negatives), spider monkeys & lots of other wild animals. Nicely decorated, modern, spacious bedroom. There is also a few English channels which is good if you just fancy a quiet night in for a change. The entertainment team really try their best, every night there is a show and a band of some sort playing (Rock band, traditional Mexican band, harpist etc). They also do a beach foam party on Fridays and beach games etc through each day. Disadvantages: When we arrived at Cancun airport we was given a letter to say a bug was going around these parts of Mexico (we wouldn’t have come here if we had known this beforehand - we feel that TUI should have informed us before we traveled). Unlucky for us my partner caught it (along with many other people in the hotel) and was poorly for at least 5 days of our trip! If you’re going soon make sure you pack Imodium!!! We found a lot of the food in the buffet restaurants tepid at best. Even at lunchtime they had “fresh cooking stations” and I got some pasta from one of these thinking at least it would be hot, I was wrong! Yak! The food in the buffet was also the same every day, after a while this is very boring. Try and book the restaurants every other day to break it up a bit. Personally we didn’t think the staff were that friendly or happy! Even if you tipped them, the service didn’t seem to improve. Although the wildlife is amazing, coaties are famous for stealing stuff!! If you are at the side of the pool make sure you wrap your belongings in a towel so they can’t pinch things. We made friends with an English couple and they had had a mobile phone stolen by a coatie but they are so quick and climb trees so fast it’s hard to get stuff back. So be careful! The overall cleanliness of the hotel wasn’t great, the rooms were brilliant but the grounds and pool all seemed to be lacking in cleanliness. Even the pool had scum floating in it along with dead bugs etc, this would need improving if we was ever to return! Also coatie / cat poo around a lot of places (inside the hotel) which sometimes was there for days at a time. Overall the weather was lovely but we had to spend a lot of our time in the room because of being poorly. I personally wouldn’t ever return here, but I don’t think I’d return to Mexico in a hurry. All I can say is do your research properly into hotels etc because it’s so expensive to feel let down like we did. I think this is a 3 star hotel at very best.

Just returned from a 14 night stay at this resort. On arrival first impression WOW ??. The resort itself is huge and grounds and gardens are beautiful and well looked after. The rooms are spacious and cleaned everyday. Towels changed daily and mini bar restocked daily with water, beer and soft drinks which was appreciated. Lots of wildlife around the area including coatis and iguanas. Guests we met had coatis take their food and bags from sun lounger so need to be careful what you leave around. Resort quieter this time of year so lots of space around the pool areas and great choice of pools available. Pool areas all clean and well looked after and waitress service for drinks an added bonus.Special thanks to both Margarita and Ady who were so attentive and a joy to meet. Always service with a smile ??. Cocktails good especially the mango tango and Miami vice. ?? Buffet restaurants good although by middle of holiday just one area open due to reduced guests but still wide variety of food available. Restaurants easy to make reservations and favourites were Mama Mia and La Vaqueri. There is also the Sports bar open 24/7 so always able to get a snack if needed. There is also an ice cream parlour which has lots of choice and the ice cream is lovely. The lobby bar at the entrance is a lovely area just to relax with a drink before or after dinner and the staff always polite. All in all a fantastic holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the resort and met lovely staff. First impression WOW and by the end of the holiday still a massive WOW ??!!
