Amazing place, we’ll return

This was our third time at this hotel. It was still incredible. The hotel is very clean. The variety and quality of the restaurants are impressive. We hardly ever went to the buffet (lunch and dinner). The beach is beautiful. We took advantage of every morning training activity (yoga, Pilates, spinning, stretching). Spinning was a particular favorite; the facilities are really good. You'll be impressed by their quality. Despite a little rain during our stay, there are plenty of covered areas where you can stay outside and enjoy the warmth. The healthy toast bar in the morning (avocado toast and other treats) is definitely a must. The Arome café was so appreciated by my family. It made a difference to our stay; it was truly appreciated (coffee, pastries). As for the lobby bar, they've upgraded their drinks service, and everything was incredible. The quality of the drinks and their presentation made us feel that we really are in a 5-star hotel. The Maroma, Terrenal, Old Fashioned, and Vanilla Vanilla drinks are definitely worth trying. The Acadio (mocktail) is also excellent. The cold brew sour in the morning was delicious. The espressos martinis are also must-tries, as are the cappuccinos. Another wonderful stay at the Catalonia; I'll definitely be back for a fourth time. Thanks to everyone that made my vacation special and thanks to the animation team.
A Wonderful Stay Made Even Better by the Incredible Staff
AliCal1979 (Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom) on Dec 10, 2025
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel, made truly unforgettable thanks to the amazing staff who bring the whole place to life. A huge thank you to Dalila, Linda, and Gabriel from the pool service team, whose friendliness and attention made every day relaxing. Louis, the bellhop, greeted us with warmth and set the tone for our holiday from the moment we arrived. At the front desk, Gustavo was incredibly helpful, and at the restaurants we were consistently impressed by Fredy at the Steakhouse, Ismael at Grand Caribe, and Aricely, our wonderful beach waitress. We also loved our experience at Teppanyaki thanks to Lorenzo and Zelma. At the bars and buffets, Ivan (lobby bar), Aldair, Julio, Yael (buffet), and Gabriela (tostada station) really stood out. Every one of them contributed to an exceptional experience. The hotel itself is beautiful. We were blown away by the size of our room; it was absolutely huge, and staying in Block 4, the quiet block, made the trip even more relaxing. The balcony was a perfect place to unwind, and the beach was incredible with soft white sand and a turquoise ocean that looked straight out of a postcard. Breakfast was fantastic, and the buffet overall had a great variety of options, though some dishes could have been a little hotter. We really enjoyed the specialty restaurants, particularly the vegetarian restaurant, the Steakhouse, and the Mexican restaurant Adelita. The Asian restaurants and the Teppanyaki were also very good. The only disappointment was the Italian restaurant, where the dishes didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The carbonara was more like scrambled eggs, and the fish was overly salty. We’re foodies, so the reason we’re giving a 4 instead of a 5 is mainly due to the temperature of some buffet items and the flavours at the Italian and a few Asian dishes, which just need a bit more refinement. Overall, this hotel is wonderful, and the staff truly elevate the entire experience. We’d happily return and highly recommend it.
Travel Agent Warning: Avoid This Hotel
Travel T on Dec 10, 2025
I’m a travel agent, and I have been traveling to Mexico for more than 10 years. I always told my clients and friends that it is safe — but this hotel completely changed my experience. I booked a trip for two adults and two children, paid $2,105.53 for our flights and $3,875.23 for the hotel, and my confirmation clearly showed this information. But when we checked out, the manager, Eric, told me I had to pay an additional $1,872 because their system listed my children as “babies.” That is an absolutely unrealistic price for kids aged 11 and 9. When I tried to explain that everything on my side was correct, Eric told me: “You will not leave from here until you pay.” I am pregnant, traveling with two children, and I was genuinely terrified. I have never felt unsafe in Mexico until this moment, and I have never experienced anything so inhumane in my entire career as a travel agent. This was my second time staying at this hotel — and it will be my last. After what happened, none of my clients will ever stay in Catalonia again. This situation shocked me to the core. I was shaking on the way to the airport and only calmed down once we arrived home. It was a traumatic, stressful, and completely unacceptable experience. I am still in disbelief that something like this could happen.
