Secrets The Vine

Our first time in Cancun! Secrets The Vine was an excellent choice from start to finish! The staff really look after you. They provided excellent service and always with a smile; and they really get to know you. A special shout out to Esmeralda, Estefania and Adrian for looking after our breakfast in the mornings. Down a few steps to the white sand of the beach which leads right into the warm Caribbean ocean. Tired of the beach head to one of the 3 pool areas. Lots of entertainment in and around the pools. You can lay quietly by the pools or be part of the action, you choose. The food and drinks were fantastic. Also a special shout-out to the entertainment team … exceptional staff!

Welcome to America

Welcome to America! 5 star, all inclusive BUT so loud! We were booked into room 1502, but after one night had to change rooms as the air conditioning unit on the ground are very loud and kept us awake. Moving to room 2313...opposite the Hard Rock Hotel and overlooking the hotel pools. There was always music playing way to loud. Couldn't fault the staff and food and drinks were very good, especially The Dragon restaurant. Overall, way to American and loud for me.

Wonderful place

Amazing hotel! Wonderful people! Ithiel, Alejandro, Cesar, Esmeralda, William, Luis Miguel and All others were amazing! Very kind and generous service at all times. Something that was pleasant for us as a family, the kindness and happiness at all levels.

No longer a nice place to stay

My second and last time here. This place has really gone downhill. It’s all about selling upgrades. Every excuse in the world to not honor their advertisements and try to extract more money. My entire stay made me feel like I was getting pitched services to. I was going to stay at a different Secrets resort in a couple of months but have now changed plans because of my experience here. Also, while most staff were friendly, one staffer, “Benito”, was the least helpful, rudest person I’ve ever encountered in decades of going to resorts. A lot of this place is nice, but they don’t honor their commitments and are not worth the price by a long shot. Never again.

Needs a few improvements

We had 2 wks here for honeymoon (our original one for Mauritius was cancelled), we booked very late and chose this hotel as it was advertised as being quiet, adult only, no foam party's, no themed nights, romantic and apparently 5 star. We found the service to be very inconsistent The food at breakfast & lunch (buffet) was very repetitive, lukewarm/cold, and we struggled to find any cutlery? they want you to have dessert, fruit, yogurt etc but don't provide any spare cutlery! Also a few times we left the table to get another course and when we returned our plates, wine glass, cutlery, napkins had all been cleared away? don't the servers keep an eye on their tables? the market cafe manager spent all his time looking down at his phone. we got so bored after 2 wks we ordered room service (very good well recommended) The restaurants for dinner are ok, Dragons was our favourite, we ate around 9pm and never struggled to get a table Our biggest peeve were the watered down drinks, in the whole 2 weeks we drank beer, cocktails, wine, spirits, tried everything basically and not once did we feel the effect. I tried asking for drinks with no ice and it made no difference whatsoever, so be aware! Not what i would expect from a hotel of this standard We downloaded the mobile phone app to check on the daily activities, however this didn't match with the in room tablet, so you never knew what was happening, or in our case what to avoid lol The rooms are spacious, we had floor 19, the views were amazing. Nice, modern, clean, we had couple of maintenance issues but there were rectified within 20mins. Found it odd the room had an ice bucket, but couldn't find any ice machines? we also asked for a kettle from concierge, again delivered within 20mins. Overall we had a nice time, the weather was great, be prepared to reserve your sunbed early ,as by 1100 you have no chance of getting one, there isn't anywhere near enough for the hotel capacity. The servers constantly come round to ask if you're ok and need a drink which was appreciated, even if they had low alcohol content lol
