Every thing was great except beds were not comfortable. Could not sleep well. Keep getting up at night because back was sore.

Staff, food, views… AHHHMAAAAZING!

Sandy J on Jul 20, 2024

I visited Secrets the Vine for one week in July 2024. IT is located on the main hotel strip in Cancun, about 20 minutes from the airport. The transfer from the airport, with Amstar transportation was seamless. I was greeted warmly in the lobby, my luggage whisked away to my room while I checked in. The rooms are spacious and very clean, fridge is well stocked, and I had a balcony view of the pool/ ocean. I could hear the ocean from my room! The entertainment team is AMAZING and the food is also excellent. My favorite restaurant was the Sea Side Grill - one of the best meals of my life was ahi tuna and pork adobo. There was yoga every morning which was amazing. The evening entertainment did not disappoint! Breakfast was not to be missed - some of the best omelette of my life! Some shout outs to the following: Geovanny and Javier for the wine and tequila tastings - so knowledgeable and funny! E-team: Sergio, Rogelio, Pedro, and Rebeca were fantastic, servers Clara and Jose on the beach were kind, attentive and helped me with my terrible Spanish! A bit different than other resorts I’ve stayed at, as it is kind of “contained”, but would absolutely return even if just for the staff. They were AWESOME.

No Secrets. Just My Experience.

LISETTE B (Maryland) on Jul 20, 2024

The resort appears somewhat outdated. This is my third visit over a span of 10 years, with the most recent being three years ago. While the resort is clean, it felt very dark, the air conditioning in the common areas was weak, and there was a very unpleasant smell in my shower. Additionally, the food wasn’t as good as I remembered. On a positive note, the staff (with the exception of the young lady who rolled her eyes when I requested sparkling water) were very hard-working and accommodating.

Couples holiday.

Just returned from a lovely holiday. Not the best hotel I've stayed in but overall was very relaxing. Booked a preferred room, so we were whisked to a separate checking in area with a glass of sparkling wine and an ice cold cloth to cool down (didn't really use much of the preferred perks, so probably wouldn't pay for it in the future). Had an ocean view on the 24th floor. The room was very spacious and the a/c worked well. Mini bar stocked daily and plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries. Although I'm comfortable with my partner, the toilet felt that you were sitting in a greenhouse, albeit with frosted glass, which is rather awkward. Also, why do hotels have these coffee machines? How about the ones who like a cup of English breakfast tea with milk in the morning? Luckily room service was included so we had to order our cuppa and wait 25 minutes for it, which was okay I suppose. The food was quite good and the service was quick. Draught beer was in short supply, so my partner wasn't too impressed. One major issue was no a/c in the breakfast area/Mexican restaurant, so not a very comfortable experience eating our food. I like Mexican food but only went there once due to the heat and did not hang around long during breakfast. We ate in all the restaurants, but take a torch with you to the Italian, Asian and Steakhouse as it's very dark and you can't hardly see what you're eating. We settled for the Peruvian and Mediterranean most nights as it was easier on the eyes and the food was amazing. The concierge was very helpful and we went to Chichen Itza and Isla Mujeres as well as a boat trip to a local coral reef. The boat trip was quite expensive but the other two were fantastic. Chichen Itza was booked via the hotel, but Isla Mujeres and the boat trip, we sorted out ourselves. The local buses were excellent to go around the Zona Hotelera as it was too hot and humid to walk far. Take some pesos with you for this. Trips can be more expensive than in Europe, in my opinion. We went to the spa for the free hour we had during our stay. It was a lovely experience, but sadly it was too expensive to justify going again. We used the gym on occasions, which was well stocked with equipment. If you don't normally use the gym, just go for the views, there are out of this world! The hotel felt very safe with plenty of security. We were slightly confused with tipping in an A.I. hotel. I've never been to Mexico before, so it might be something they do in A.I. hotels over there. I saw a few people tipping the staff, so we felt a bit awkward as I haven't seen in in European A.I. hotels. Luckily we had a few pesos with us, but we had to use it all for tipping. I don't mind tipping when it's due, but is was quite unexpected. Everywhere was clean and the staff are a credit to the hotel. The lady cooking the omelette was the star, cooking about 5 at a time and they were delicious. I have never seen staff so attentive to their guests, the best I've seen. I probably won't return, but the reason is, the world is too bit to go to the same place twice, but you won't go wrong with this hotel.
