Best waiter ever!!!

MargaretE78 on Jul 05, 2022

If you ever stay at Secrets The Vine Cancun, ask for a waiter named Pedro Campos. He took care of my sister-in-law and myself every morning at breakfast during out stay at the resort. He always made sure our coffee cups were filled and always had a smile on face!!! Keep up the great work!!!

It could have been better

We booked this hotel through their website since we are members of the preferred club. We stayed for 5 nights and they were very pleasant, when we arrived our "Butler" was ready to meet us and do the check- in unfortunately they didn't have our room ready (even though they tell you when you acquire the membership that you can have the check- in early) so that wasn't great so we had to got to look out the hotel and they have a really equipped gym with view to the ocean, a very nice spa, 7 restaurants, 3 pools, a infinity pool only for the preferred club and an ok beach. They don't seem to care to clean enough the beach of the sargassum so most the days we were there we couldn't get into the ocean, we would have to walk to the other beaches so we could have a good time and one day we had to go to Playa del Carmen because there was a lot of sargassum. The hotel doesn't have a lot of entertainment so sometimes it gets a little boring, especially at nights. Our room was big enough, with a balcony with ocean view, king size bed, a small living room, a great shower, 2 sinks, restroom and 2 closets, we were in the 26th floor and it was a junior suite so it was bigger than the normal ones. The great thing about being in the preferred club is that you do not have to do the check out nor the check in in the lobby, they take to a different floor and they help you there so it's so much faster. The restaurants were ok, not great tho, we tried the italian food and the food was tasteless it didn't even have salt and the took forever to bring our food, we also tried "Dragons" the asian restaurant and the food wa awful i honestly was expecting more, Market Cafe that is mexican food was very good, the other nights we decided to go out. We also went to the spa for a massage and it was a very very nice experience, their staff was so nice and professional. The location is ok, it is 1.3 miles to the shopping mall La Isla so and i would say you can go by walking but with the heat its not a nice walk, but you can take a cab that will get you there for 10 usd, if you want to go downtown is about 3.4 miles and the cab will charge you 30 usd (cabs are expensive). I would recommend this hotel but i think it is a little expensive for what it really is, i think maybe the other resorts in Playa del Carmen might be better. Ah and the forgot to give us our book of coupons when we arrived they told us hours before we were living so not a great attention from the VIP services.

Birthday Trip

Alanalvt on Jul 05, 2022

We have been to Mexico 6 times in all our traveling and have loved Secrets. Secrets the Vine did great with utilizing their space and having options for restaurants. The wine tastings at 1 & 3 pm were great and something different to try, but the private tasting (normally at 5pm) is well worth it. Very informative from the type of glassware v/s using crystal, pairing with meats/cheeses and chocolates ?? Fabiola was FABULOUS... down to earth, friendly and super informative!! Both her and Geovanny (hoping I remembered the spelling correctly) answered all questions and truly knew about each country the wine was from. Great to have them both speak Spanish and English so we could learn more of the Spanish language as well. They made this resort stand out! Enjoyed seeing their smiling faces each day and loved Fabiola was able to recommend a specific wine to match with our dinner, bought a bottle based on her recommendation without even trying it and it was delicious. Enjoyed the mexician dishes for breakfast. How many places offer 4 different types of chilaquiles on the breakfast buffet ?!?! What a special treat along with the poblano pepper and corn dish ... delicious ??. The only negative that stands out was the restocking of the room. Never happened and we did call down to request more waters, which they brought to us. I also left a note on the door requesting waters/ coke. Just never restocked on their own and did not replace the coke we drank on the first night. The beer wasn't an issue since neither one of us likes/drinks beer. The room was cleaned or at least offered to be cleaned daily. Overall a great trip with polite staff BUT Fabiola and Geovanny made the wine experience awesome and the reason we chose Secrets the Vine verses our normal destination of Secrets Akumal. Big Kudos to them and their obvious love of wine and informative/super friendly wine tastings!!!!

Waste of £2000

Izzyandluke97 on Jul 05, 2022

We are currently away at secrets the vine and I have never written a hotel review before but always check them before I go. The reviews were really good for this hotel, a few bad ones but we thought let’s try it. Firstly I do not think this hotel is worth anywhere near the money we paid. First reason being the nighttime entertainment. They do a few shows here and there by the pool at night (they make you move sunbeds about 3pm to set this up) and if you want to be anywhere near the front you HAVE to buy a bottle of wine. Which I cannot do as I’m pregnant but I’ve already paid £2000 to be here why should I be paying anything more at an all inclusive. We ended up watching from our balcony like outsiders. The second reason being the rooms. The walls are like paper, you can hear everything, we have been put by the lift and the cleaners closet so asked to move as this was a very noisey room. We was moved after 2 days of asking then we got put next to lifts again!! And now the noise from the 12th pool has been waking us up as they play house music at 6am.. we have been calling every morning to ask them to start the music later or to turn it off but they do not do anything after agreeing to. I am pregnant, tired and need my sleep! This is really not ok. Thirdly the food isn’t 5 star quality food. Everything at breakfast is cold, we asked for the hash browns to be heated up and they went from cold to Luke warm and soggy. The only good thing at breakfast is the omelette station as this is always hot. The only pros I have to say about his hotel is the Italian restaurant and the pools. Apart from that this is not a five star hotel and I have wasted my babymoon coming here which is really sad to say. Thank you secrets for not listening to anything we have to say maybe we should have gone with the “preferred guest” option then we may have had a voice at this hotel.
