We were married at the Hotel Mac in 2006, so coming back in 2024 for a funeral was a full circle moment for us. It is still an Edmonton classic with exceptional service and a recent remodel that brought the entire property up to modern standards while maintaining the classic charm. You cannot find a better property in the entire area.

This is a historic old hotel, very posh. Normally need reservations but not always. They have doormen on at the entrance and a maître de at the restaurant. There is restaurant seating inside but the seating outside has a wonderful view of the valley and river. The flower gardens are fantastic. There is an outside cooking area with a chef and sous chef. Food is fantastic although higher priced as are the drinks. However, great atmosphere, wonderful old pics and fantastic furnishings. A good experience ( but not one I would do regularly)

The AC did not work in the room, we were moved to another room after we tried opening the windows for a few hours. It was late at this point and we unpacked and stuff to find out the AC was broke as well in the new room. We hardly slept all night and we really wish we could have enjoyed it but with no sleep it was not an enjoyable experience, especially for our dog who panted all night.

Very friendly staff throughout the hotel. Beautiful view of river valley from hotel. The hotel also offer a very nice Sunday brunch. I stayed on the Gold Floor. The only thing I do find is the windows of the rooms on the 7th floor tend to be small and hence the room are not as bright as I would like. The overall Gold Floor experience is still very nice though.

The room had a good ambience and everything was super clean. However, the absence of a few basic amenities, such as a complimentary bottle of water upon arrival, a microwave oven, or a refrigerator, was noticeable. These small additions could significantly enhance the guest experience, especially given the cost of the stay. It's time for the hotel to move beyond charging based solely on its retro infrastructure and decorations and show more care for its customers. The current approach feels overly commercialized, as if their responsibility ends after handing over the room card. Adding these basic amenities would demonstrate a genuine concern for guest comfort and satisfaction.
