Classic luxury with equally classy service

The Hotel Macdonald is perhaps the very definition of classic historical luxury hotel - one of those places you wonder 'if only the walls could talk', yet gracefully renovated for modern comfort. From three visits in recent months, the rooms are all slightly different - no 'cookie cutter' here, not even close! - but elegant, spotless, quiet and comfortable. The staff are equally gracious, professional and attentive, and every stay has been seamless, wonderful. The Confederation Lounge and Harvest Room are superb, though in both cases it was the warm and personable service that really stands out in my memory. The fitness centre is huge and very well equipped, (indoor pool also surprisingly large for a hotel). And finally, in-room Nespresso machines which make 'big' coffees, yay! :)

We visited for one-night and had a fantastic experience. The hotel was beautiful and our room was spacious, clean and felt like a true 5 star stay. The highlight of the stay was the world-class customer service. We were in Edmonton for our young daughter’s cheerleading competition, which she made known to Nella, at the front-desk, when we were checking in. When we returned to our room after the competition, there was a handwritten note from Nella wishing her the best of luck attached to a beautiful box of pastries. This type of personal touch is rarely seen anymore and really made our daughter feel special. We will be back on our next trip to Edmonton.
