Hits and Misses at the Grenada Royalton

We visited here end of December to beginning of January 2026 for a family vacation. The reason we chose this hotel was because we had a fabulous time at the Planet Hollywood resort in Costa Rica and were looking for an all inclusive in another destination. My wife is lifetime Titanium with Marriott but we’re surprised that there was no recognition of that at this property - indeed she said this property is not up to Marriott standards. The Diamond Club upgrades here are only available by paying more and has no association to Marriott Diamond status. But based on what I’ve heard about that here it really wasn’t something we missed. The biggest problem we had with our visit here was the poor food quality and laughable restaurant choices. The food was mostly the same at lunch and dinner at the buffet. If you’re looking for hot dogs - they had those at every meal except breakfast. Trying to feed my picky eating kids was difficult here - on other vacations like cruises we’ve been on they’ve found tons of eating options. My wife said the stews and other stuff they served upset her stomach. I’m the only seafood eater in our family - and they did have many seafood options. In fact, the grilled tuna was at almost every meal. A bit chewy, but it was ok. I did like the sushi tuna they served one night. And the shrimp were decent as well. Other places we’ve been switch up the food offerings to keep eating interesting - like theme nights - but that doesn’t happen here. As for the restaurants - they have three of them - French, Italian and Indian. The first one we tried - the Italian one - was so difficult getting reservations. When we were finally seated a half hour after our reservation time - my wife ordered something and the waitress came back and told her it was unavailable! When we eventually got our food it was mediocre at best. We talked to another family that said it took 3 hours to be served dinner here. We ate at the French restaurant twice - and it was the best by far of the restaurant choices. They actually do work to keep dinner courses moving along and the staff worked hard to make dining there good. And by the way it was lucky we could get any reservations as the app wasn’t working they want you to use to make the reservations! The room here we had overlooked the grounds and had a view of the ocean from a distance. Aside from the view the room was nothing to write home about - felt more like a cheap motel rather than a Marriott property. The beds were small and not as comfortable as Marriott hotels. The cleaning staff did a good job keeping the room tidy. And the air conditioning worked exceptionally well keeping our room nice and chilly. The entertainment was pretty good. We really enjoyed the steel drum band. I’ve never seen a steel drum band that big so that was enjoyable. The water sports were great at this property - we did almost everything and had a blast! Boogyboarding on the large waves early in the week was thrilling! And I had a great time ocean kayaking down to BBC beach. We took out the hobie cat twice and really enjoyed that as well. We did a couple 3rd party excursions during our trip - one to seven sisters falls and the other to Annandale falls. The Mona monkeys were neat! So overall there were some hits and some misses. I’m not sure I’d choose a Royalton property in the future knowing how good some of the other options are for all inclusive - even if they’re more expensive.
Negative Review of Royalton Grenada

I will never go to another Royalton again. The facility was dirty. One night, the water pressure dropped, and then the water in our room was brown for hours. It took hours to get food at any restaurant. We paid extra to be in the "Diamond Club," and the only perk we got was reservations for dinner. Our butlers were not even on duty all day, as promised. We still had to make our own reservation for NYE dinner, which meant waiting in a long line in the main lobby instead of enjoying our vacation. They frequently ran out of bottled water. We had to request basic essentials like toilet paper and soap to be restocked in our room. On NYE, they had the gall to set up a party in the main lobby and charge at least $260 US to sit at any of the tables (remember, this is an all-inclusive). As a guest with a food allergy, all the restaurants did was ask if there were any allergies at the hostess desk. Our server never pointed out any of the items on the menu that were safe for me to eat, so I question why they even make note of an allergy. Also, the food is not always labeled, so you don't even know what you're eating, let alone if it has any allergens. My son got a sea urchin spike in his finger, and when he went to the "nurse," all she offered was to call a doctor for $200. He and my husband asked for a pair of tweezers to remove it, and she said they didn't have any, even though they could see them on the table. Do not waste your money on Royalton Grenada, or any other Royalton Resort.
Disappointed

The location and the grounds are great. The service staff are pleasant and professional. That unfortunately is where it ends. There is no management that is apparent in the running of this hotel. Try to get anything fixed in the rooms . Food is mediocre at best. I had to travel in my career and really never saw this lack of management. Miss Shadow the manager should be replaced. Worst Royalton

We visited Royalton Grenada in December 2025 as a family of 4. The hotel is conveniently located approximately 5 minutes from the airport, and taxis were easily available upon our arrival at the airport. The hotel's grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the views are amazing. We have visited several Royaltons in the past, including Negril, Punta Cana and Riviera Cancun, and we never expect luxury from Royalton despite their self-assigned 5 stars, but this was by far the worst of the chain. As several reviewers mentioned, the worst part was the food, and the service was really slow (over 1 hr at the French to get appetizers, more than 1.5hr at the grill to get wings)! The buffet was unedible, except for breakfast, and on many occasions, the dishes listed on the menus of a la carte restaurants were not available (and several of them, including main dishes and desserts). They constantly ran out of basic items, like ice, spoons, forks, alcohol. Of the sad dinner options, the Indian restaurant was decent, with the French ok. We usually love Italian food but the food was cold and completely tasteless, despite a nice selection on paper. We ended up going out for dinner on 2 occasions as the options and quality for dinner were mediocre. We were still able to enjoy our vacation, and the staff was amazing and helpful (shoutout to our butler Milano), but I am definitely not going back and not recommending this hotel to anyone. The taxi driver taking us out for dinner mentioned everybody complains how bad the food is at Royalton and we certainly agree.
