Disappointed overall

Overall, we had a very disappointing experience at this resort. The front line staff do their best with what they have, in any disappointment that we experience was not as a result of the Frontline staff rather the structural and provisional problems from the company itself. We stayed in block 15 on the beach walk out section. Our room was intended to be a diamond club room. It was a substandard room at best. The humidity control was nonexistent and the room was both freezing and wet. Additionally, our lampshades were growing black mould when we arrived. The scentin the room was one of a musty, wet old basement. We requested a room change and we’re unable to obtain one even though other peoplein our party were able to get a room change went requested. It was difficult to be in the room and every article of clothing that we had brought with us had to be washed upon return because everything smelled of mold. Our maid (Donisha) did her very best with what she had to work with as in our butlers (Edin and Lindon). The failure here is structural and with the organization, not the frontline staff. We have dietary restrictions (gluten allergy), which made eating at the resort very difficult. At the main buffet, nothing was labelled properly with even the names of things much less the contents. Some of this kitchen staff (Karine and Martin) were very good and helped us but overall it was a frustrating experience. The safest place to eat for a coeliac person was the Indian restaurant. The food there was reliably good. Everywhere else it was risky and my husband experienced cross-contamination several times. For somebody with a food allergy this is incredibly serious. The main buffet lacked both labelling and options for those with restrictions. The beach was beautiful, and the overall ambiance in the resort was peaceful and quiet. Additionally, the gym was well kept and clean, and the staff were helpful. The gym was well stocked, even though there were a few items such the feet on the rowing machine that needed to be repaired. Overall, the gym was an excellent experience. I wanted to enjoy the resort and I wish I could report that I did. The Royalton needs to do better.

We booked this trip for our anniversary. We wanted a relaxing beach getaway with the option to explore the island, learn about the culture, and do a few excursions. We chose the Royalton because of its beachfront location, convenience, and proximity to the airport. Service (Staff): The staff was very friendly, always smiling, and professional. The front-line team truly tries hard and deserves credit. Unfortunately, our experience with management was the opposite. When we had questions or concerns, management was not helpful and came across as dismissive. Location: The location is extremely convenient. It’s about five minutes from the airport. You could honestly walk there if you wanted to. No long transfer after landing, which is a big plus. Rooms & Views: If you book beachfront, the views are beautiful. The beach is not very large, but that actually makes it nice because you’re very close to the water and can hear the ocean from your room. It’s peaceful and soothing. That said, the rooms are pretty basic. Nothing special. Thin walls. You can hear your neighbors cough. The beds are on wheels, so if you toss and turn, the bed can literally move away from the wall. Not ideal. The fridge struggled to keep drinks cold, but they do restock water daily, which we appreciated. The shower had both hose and rainfall options, which was nice. Tours: We did a full-day island tour with stops at the nutmeg and chocolate museum. Highly recommend exploring Grenada. Just understand that the full day is mostly because of the driving. The roads and driving style are very different than what we’re used to. Our driver was fantastic though—friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great historical insight. Food: This was unfortunately the weakest part of our stay. There are four dinner options: • Taj (Indian): We found it lacked flavor. • French restaurant: Good food and good service. • Italian: By far our favorite. Very tasty and great views. • Buffet: Not great. The make-your-own pasta station was the best option. • Dinner reservations are required and were a nightmare. The earliest we could get was 9:00 PM, yet when we arrived, there were open tables. The system felt disorganized. Because the food overall wasn’t strong, the omelet line at breakfast and pasta line at dinner were always long. Good to Know Before Booking • Do your research. • Watch YouTube reviews and look through detailed TripAdvisor photos. Resort • This resort works well if you want to relax, sit on the beach all day, and enjoy beautiful views. It’s also a good base if you’re interested in exploring Grenada’s history and culture. The resort feels understaffed. • At higher capacity, there are not enough pool and beach chairs for everyone. • Smoothies are only for Diamond Club members. Would I Return? I would absolutely return to Grenada. It’s a beautiful island with amazing friendly people. Would I return to the Royalton? Probably not unless the price better matched the amenities and overall experience. Final thoughts The resort is small but beautiful. The staff is friendly. The beachfront views are great. The WiFi worked well throughout the property, and being five minutes from the airport is incredibly convenient. The Royalton is priced as a 5 star resort and I would barely qualify it as 3 stars. It falls short in many aspects. The food quality, reservation system, room comfort and the amenities. The Good • Friendly staff • Beautiful beachfront views • Five minutes from the airport • One of only two all-inclusive options on the island • Reliable WiFi The Bad • Thin walls • Only two pools • Understaffed • Food quality inconsistent • Long food lines • High price point The Ugly • Dinner reservation system was frustrating • Not enough seating at pools/beach when busy • Beds on wheels and not very comfortable • Basic rooms • Management was rude and unhelpful • App did not work properly At the end of the day, the property is beautiful. It just doesn’t justify the premium price tag based on the overall experience. I would rate this resort a 3 star at best.
Never Again

Someone said “the property Marriott forgot” and could not be any more true!!! This is not a 5 star resort. It might be for someone that does not travel frequently. This place is a 3 star at very best. Nibbles was the best part of the trip and that says a lot for a pool snack bar to be the best. The service all around is abysmal and take FOREVER to receive basic amenities. We booked 6 months in advance for 2 beds in our room and were given a nonsense story when we arrived as to why only 1 bed was available for our room. They offered us a cot on wheels on the floor. Room service was non existent unless you do not mind waiting 3 hours for service. The beach is really pretty but that is about it. I wouldn’t ever stay here again or recommend it. Way better properties in the area. Don’t let the fact Marriott owns this place fool you. It is the forgotten property!!! Running by name only. The GM should be replaced and the place requires a massive overhaul. A beautiful property gone to waste
Relaxing and a lot of fun

This hotel has so many positives and a few small negatives Positives- Stunning gardens and beautiful beaches Best beach is the one with the water sports- soft sand - no rocks - clear water . It is a relaxed easy going hotel and we found the staff super friendly and helpful. Simple rule - be polite and respectful and they will be too - sadly witnessed some very rude guests with no manners. Our room was great - always hot water and very good shower - we paid extra for an ocean front room - totally worth it - sitting on the balcony with a beautiful view but we were not diamond club - seemed pointless. Food - We loved the food The buffet was great - lots of salad , and tasty dishes - never disappointed Breakfast was excellent with great egg station and loads of choices ! We tried the Italian - unfortunately we ordered aubergine pasta dish but there was no aubergine only left over veg so disappointing The taj was surprisingly great Small portions so over-order - but really tasty , different to a curry in the UK, but felt more authentic with amazing flavours. The highlight was the naan which was so delicious. We found the entertainment to be excellent the man who organises it all is superb and an amazing dancer We particularly enjoyed the drummers who were outstanding, and they had great singers and bands on We were lucky to be here on Independence Day and they put on an incredible buffet in the gardens with a great band and some of the best fireworks I’ve ever seen . The spa was very pricey, but the massage was excellent! And the gym was superb! We found the hotel to be really enjoyable, chilled out Only small negative was we had to ask for our room to be cleaned on two occasions which is frustrating and no salt/pepper on tables Also, it is difficult to book the restaurants, but totally doable if you persevere . I overall I would give this hotel 9 out of 10
