No, just NO

We recently stayed at the Waikiki Banyan, and overall, the experience was very disappointing. The hallways, elevators, and common areas were outdated and had a dingy, neglected feel that didn’t create a welcoming atmosphere. Elevator situation is awful. Pool deck is depressing. We booked one room through VRBO, and while the room itself was clean and decent, the air conditioning unit leaked all over the balcony, rendering it unusable. There was a constant weird odor in the hallway all the time. The second room, booked directly through the Aston website, was in terrible condition — extremely outdated, damaged, and noticeably dirty. The rooms managed by Aston look nothing like the pictures on their web site. While one staff member we encountered was polite and tried to be helpful, they weren’t able to resolve our issues, Unfortunately, the other staff member one duty was rude and dismissive, adding to our frustration. We left feeling misled and disappointed. Given the poor condition of the property and the unprofessional attitude of most of staff, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel unless significant improvements are made.

The Hotel Bunion is a Dump

This is a two star at best. The interior and exterior of the building are completely worn out. Furnishings are really worn out and flilthy. Beds are hard and really hard. Rooms are poorly equipped. Not only that, paint is peeling, plaster is crumblings, carpeting is lifting, A/C units are malfunctioning. You pay the same daily/nightly room charge as a 4 or 5 star such as the Hyatt Regency Resort. Amenities at the Banyan are a joke. The deck and pool area are worn out and despite an acre of concrete, the BBQ's and deck chairs are limited and worn out. If the cost were HALF of what is charged, I might recommend it to folks on a budget or teenagers who just want to party. NOT a place for retired folks or people used to better accommodations at an all-in cost of nearly $400 per night. Terrible value for money.
Old looking, but worked fine.

The staff was nice every time we talked to them. It's a good location. The rooms are very dated and need to be upgraded due to things starting to not work (cupboards) or just to appear cleaner. Elevators were a bit of a challenge. Kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cookware and a few small appliances like rice cooker, toaster and coffee pot. Overall, it was a fine stay and we would stay again.
Rooms Needs Love

The staff was great and we had a great view for fireworks on New Years. Sadly that is where it ends as the room needs an update! The beds were hard, the couch old and torn. The white, yes I said white carpet had stains. The water pressure was low and the tub felt like it had a plastered hole.
