Ok. So originally we booked the Aston banyan. When we arrived, totally unacceptable. The front desk called the sunset and they had two rooms ocean view. Nice. Same price. So the rooms had a spectacular ocean view, however the rooms have a lot of wear and tear . A lot of! But felt grateful not to be at the banyan. The first problem is that the doors are a good one inch from the floor, sooo… all of those who permanently live there seem to put on food in the morning, maybe in a crockpot and so the hallway smell horrific, and it comes into your room under the door unless you place towels under your door. The air-conditioning worked great. The beds were OK. It was interesting that we booked two rooms next-door to each other and they had different bedding arrangements. One had two twins one had a double and a twin interesting for two couples did not make us very happy. However, Michelle downstairs and Nick downstairs at the front desk seem to be the most helpful people in the entire Hotel. We were there during hurricane LaLa and we fared fine however, the hotel lost the use of their elevators. It wasn’t that they lost the use of them. It was that they did absolutely nothing to make it better for us. We are on the 34th floor. It was not enjoyable to walk up and down 34 floors. It took several days to get it working. They did nothing to compensate. They did nothing to stand at the elevators and direct traffic. It was a good 30 minute wait to get on the elevator once they were working because at first they only had one of the four working the first two days. It would’ve been exceptional if They had an employee there to make sure that those who were in line got on first. Anyway, would I stay here again, absolutely not was it OK? Sure. Just OK though. The standouts were Michelle and Nick at the front desk. And the housekeeping staff the rest was well just. acceptable. I would definitely find a better option.

We had 3 little girls with us so having the kitchen to feed them made so much more sense than buying food out all the time. The sleeping arrangements were awesome and lots of space for everyone. We had such a great and amazing view. Look out the window and Diamond Head was right there. ?? The swimming pool was another great plus for our stay and the barbecue area.

We were welcomed as soon as we entered the lobby! After checking in, we noticed some issues with our televisions in the suite. Maintenance was on it!. Tito came right up and immediately replaced the non working device. The rooms were nice Not right on the beach but, a minute walk up the block. The hotel had everything we needed for our stay! We placed a Walmart order later.

Other than a good location, great Diamond Head view and truly lovely staff, there is little else to recommend the dated, worn Aston Sunset. It needs a serious upgrade and is not an experience commensurate with the price. I hope that management will take steps to remedy this (the in-progress pool level upgrade is a positive sign) because the folks working there embody true aloha and deserve better - as do paying guests.

It was an amazing going to Hawaii for the first time as a Family trip. Coming from the prairies in Canada the ocean beat all expectations! Unfortunately the prices in Hawaii was hi-way ROBBERY! That really changed most plans we wanted to do , but couldn’t.
