Disappointed and frustrated hotel experiences

xinl113 (Mountain View, California) on Jan 07, 2026

Our 10-day experience at the Twin Fin was extremely disappointing: The $500 per night room felt super tiny, unclean, and poorly maintained, with visible patches, wear, and dirt throughout. Sanity is also a main concern, we even saw roaches in the building. It gave the impression of an aging, neglected property rather than a resort hotel. Front desk service was also a major issue. While not all staff were unfriendly, most interactions felt cold and unwelcoming. In our 10 days, we never saw any smiling from them. On multiple occasions, staff appeared smiling with white guests, then immediately turned distant with us – an experience we did not encounter at the Marriott (across the street). Lastly, accessing beach towels was unnecessarily frustrating. Towels are distributed through the same line as hotel check-in, leading to long waits and line-cutting by guests just trying to grab towels. By comparison, the Marriott provides towel vending machines, making the process quick and hassle-free. Overall, Twin Fin was a poor value and left us disappointed and frustrated. We would not recommend staying here.

Meh. Good if you’re not staying here all day

4 star rating is a JOKE. Not really a resort but good location. Room dusty and falling apart from the humidity outside. After i got out of the shower and walked on the carpet, my feet were visibly dirty. The $60 resort fee and $60 parking fee is wild and not made clear and then you swipe your credit card anyway.

Meh - location is the only thing that deserves the stars

Christine M on Jan 05, 2026

The Twin Fin Hotel is just like any other hotel on Waikiki. The only thing I feel is worth the stars is the location. It really is only a few steps from the wall area of Waikiki beach. Other than that, there really isn't anything special. Check in / out was easy. Cons: Everything is overpriced. $60 / night parking: only valet is available. If you forget something in your car, you have to wait for someone to walk you to your car, where they parked it for you. An inconvenience for us because sometimes we would leave our sunglasses or charger cords, or anything really. Really pricy for parking. Resort fee - additional fees. Does not include breakfast. If going to Waikiki is all you want to do during your stay and paying for overpriced food, this would be the place to stay. If you like what the locals like, local beach, local food; I would not recommend this place.

Park at your own risk

4775jayg (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Jan 01, 2026

We are locals and decided to stay in Waikiki for NYE. We pulled in to the valet area to be told that valet is full and we would need to find parking elsewhere. They suggested neighboring hotels but we'd have to pay the non-guest rate, if they were even accepting non-guest vehicles. The hotel needs to do better with parking. At the front desk they had no solutions only to say parking isn't guaranteed. The valet on the other hand was very sympathetic and had some suggestions on where parking could be found, even giving us the location and how long it would take us to drive there and walk back. The hotel is also run down. We took a chance because of a cheaper rate but we learned our lesson and will stay at the hotels we frequent and pay a little more for.

Old, rusty, peeling and dirty, it is not a 4-star hotel.

Argeseanu M (Popesti Leordeni, Romania) on Dec 28, 2025

I chose this hotel because of its exceptional location and the photos shown on Booking.com. The reality did not match the presentation. We stayed in room 2206. The room did not meet basic safety standards. Maintenance was poor. The balcony door did not work. I found dirt and rust everywhere. The room felt neglected and unsafe. I am attaching photos to show the real condition of the room.
