Great location, friendly staff!

The hotel has beautiful views, still located near local attractions without being overly crowded. Rooms were clean, and air was cold. Friendly staff, housekeeping super accommodating and delicious complimentary coffee. Balcony in the rooms makes it so nice!
I flew from the Big Island to Honolulu for a medical appointment. One night only at this hotel.

It was disappointing. I thought the Hilton name still meant something. Not here. I'll be quick and highlight: There was no hotel restaurant and no room service. They said there were two restaurants, but one was a shop/snack bar that was inaccessible for anyone with a disability due to needing to take a stairway. The main hotel entrance is also inaccessible. The other "hotel" restaurant was the adjoining but independent Fire Grill. The room was just okay but the shower, with bench, was not usable for anyone with a disability because there were rusty nail heads sticking up from the seat. The duvet was frayed and torn out at the seams. The bed was truly awful. I did not sleep more than a couple of hours due to the lumps and bumps. In the morning the coffee maker did not work. The staff brought another one and it also did not work. The staff member returned in about a half hour with one that did...a new one. The adjoining restaurant could not deliver a take out/delivery order to a hotel room. I had to go down to get it. That is not easy for someone with mobility issues. The barbecue sauce was good but the ribs and chicken were overcooked and almost too dry to eat at all. The staff did not understand or speak English. This is not their fault but is the responsibility of the managers who hired them. It was an effort to manage the simplest communication. I will say that the bell staff were helpful and prompt. They stood out from the rest by heads and shoulders. The thing is, this is not a cheap hotel. For the fees (room, resort tax, other taxes) charged, this should have been a much better experience. Pay a little more and get a real hotel or settle for something cheaper that will be just as good as this was. Sorry I don't have much good to say. It it just not run well and the staff, largely, is not trained properly. Good luck with your decision. I will avoid it forever.
