Hyatt Place Waikiki - A Great Experience
one3s3 (Temecula, California) on May 31, 2026
The Hyatt Place Waikiki is the only hotel we stay at on Oahu. The manager, Dino Besic, treated us like family. We will be back again next year.
Shady Marketing hiding flaws
HitoMrin (Barcelona, Spain) on May 30, 2026
Shady marketing ploy. Provides deals about hotel without telling us that hotel is under construction. All balcony doors are closed and there is a lot of construction noise. "Free buffet breakfast" is a joke. The food choices are extremely limited. The seating area is open air, open to rain, high winds and tens of birds stealing our food. Will never stay here again. Costco should stop offering thos hotel as an option.
4 Night Weeknight stay
Madnlock (Round Rock, Texas) on May 29, 2026
We spent 4 nights (Wed to Sun) in room 1136 in the Pali Tower. Three of us stayed in a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper. My adult daughter slept on the sofa sleeper and when we opened it, there were sheets on the bed but there was something that looked like saw dust that we had to brush off. When I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night during our first night, I saw a large roach that was flipped on its back on the bathroom floor in front of the toilet . We didn't see any more bugs after that. I booked a City View room. We could see a bit of mountain view if we looked to the side and if we looked to the other side, there was a small ocean view. We could hear the neighbors slamming their room door very loudly around 5:00am. Later during our stay, we heard a dog barking loudly from the room next door. The lights in the sink area were very dim. I liked that the sink was separate from the shower and toilet . The room had a tub shower. The area where the shower was could have used a fan. More towel racks or hooks were needed. The room was large for the 3 of us and had enough storage space. There was one microwave in the lobby to the right of the bar. Paper plates and disposable utensils and napkins were available. I was able to use it to reheat leftovers late one afternoon without any wait. Some reviewers complained about the breakfast. We thought it was pretty good. Our first morning they served the pre-made Jimmy Dean sandwiches but the other 3 mornings, scrambled eggs and sausage were served as the hot items. The fruit available was whole fruit (apples and oranges) and bowls of pineapple (previously frozen?). I didn't eat any cereal but I recall the only choices were Fruit Loops and plain Cheerios. Plain bagels and different types of bread were available but no muffins or other sweet pastries. I ended up going to the area on the 3rd floor about 30 minutes before the start of breakfast and the coffee was always available. We experienced a very long ling for the elevator our first morning after finishing breakfast. We walked down one floor and took elevator back to our room. Other wait times for the elevator were minimal. There is a $5 daily credit that is included as part of the $42 (pre tax)"Destination Fee". I asked about it at check in and was told that it had to be used by midnight. We checked in late our first night so I should have used our first night's credit then but didn't. No $5 credit could be used the day of check out. Tax and gratuity still applied on the full amount of any purchase made using the credit. When ordering/buying your item(s) you have to mention that you are using a credit. $3 Candy, $4 bottled Pepsi products or $5 water were the only things available $5 or less to use the daily credit on. A sign in the elevator advertised a Happy Hour 3:00-4:00 and late night 9:00-10:00 when appetizers were 25% off and there were drink specials. Our "spring package rate" came with a $50 stay credit so we used that the evening of our last night. I ordered $22 chicken tenders/fries, $20 Crispy Chicken Wings and a $20 Caesar Salad and took it back to our room. I tipped $12 and $55 should have been subtracted because of our $50 package credit and the $5 daily credit. After the credit, I was left with a balance of $7 plus $12 tip and my charge was $23,79 ($4.79 for tax?). It was confusing since you sign a receipt when you make the charge but it doesn't show the credits and your check out statement only shows the final amount charged. I wasn't given a receipt but probably should have asked for one. Overall we had a nice stay. The location was convenient and we didn't have any major issues. We kept the room occupied sign up our whole stay and don't think housekeeping ever entered.
Prime spot and Perks in Waikiki Beach!
shannonw906 (Sherwood, Arkansas) on May 27, 2026
We are Hyatt reward members so it was a no brainer for us to stay here for our quick trip to Oahu before we started island hopping. It is a category 4 so you can use your free night award and the points/ cash price is great, although parking and resort fees can add up so plan accordingly. We each used a free night, so no resort fees on those, and we utilized the Hyatt’s deal/rate with Charley’s taxi for transport to Ana from the airport. Did a scheduled bus tour to Pearl Harbor and rented a car for one day from First Rentals (located on the first floor of the Hyatt and re also get a discount from them since staying at Hyatt). Able to walk everywhere in Waikiki so a big plus, and lastly they have free use of beach toys/ chairs etc. We did not have time to utilize this service but saw several guest taking advantage!
Nice and clean hotel
jessica n on May 24, 2026
Had a great time here. Hotel was clean and ac was working well. I had a city view with a view of the Diamond Head Crater. Beds were comfy. Couple of gripes: one two elevators for the entire hotel. Sometimes it took forever to get an elevator and since I was on the 17th floor, I wasn’t gonna take the stairs. Breakfast was kinda limited. I felt there should have been more toppings for the oatmeal and more than just pineapple for fruit. As for bread it was just bread and bagels, no pastries. They had alternating days of bacon, eggs, pancakes (reheated), French toast (reheated), breakfast sandwiches, and a station with bread/bagels, oatmeal, pineapple, rice, kimchi, assortment of juices, coffee and tea. Overall, I would rebook. It was clean and everyone was nice. Hotel in close proximity to tons of food trucks.
