Disappointed

chucker61 (Toledo, Ohio) on Apr 18, 2024

Not what we expected from a "luxury Hyatt property. For $400 per night, I wouldn't expect peeling wallpaper, carpet stains and peeling paint in our room. Maid service was excellent, location good on Wakaki strip. We had a "beach facing" room which had a lot of noise from traffic on street below until 1:00 am each night.

Parking is nightmare!

ppixton on Apr 18, 2024

Self parking was across street and always sold out. The valet line was always backed up and took 5 minutes or longer to get through line. We ended up parking .6 miles away and taking 20-30 minutes extra to drive and walk. Made hotel experience less enjoyable.

great location

psanti8059 on Apr 17, 2024

I have stayed at the Hyatt Waikiki many times since it was built in 1976. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy and clean. The walls were marked up and needed fresh paint. Every room has a wonderful view. Enjoyable lania. The location is great.

Excellent Hotel

PLan977 (Winter Garden, Florida) on Apr 14, 2024

We are visiting from Florida and chose this hotel Our package included breakfast. We love it! Excellent location. Ocean front view was spectacular. We were able to watch the start of the half marathon from our balcony. Rooms are nice and clean. By 10:00 am our room was all ready cleaned with fresh towels. The breakfast buffet was delicious. And the service in the restaurant was some of the best we ever have experienced. All the employees are great. Only compliments for this hotel and their staff. I highly recommend

Good and Bad Points

mjacobsbros (Eastleigh, United Kingdom) on Apr 14, 2024

We stayed one night on floor 9 of the EWA tower before joining the Pride of America cruise ship for 7 nights and 5 nights on our return from the cruise, again in the EWA tower but in room 1718 so nice and high. We booked our holiday with friends on the same booking but for some reason they were put in the Diamond Head tower! To the right of our balcony we could see Waikiki beach and to the left a construction site below (a new Hilton I believe) which my husband was very pleased with. We own a small construction company so he spent every available minute on the balcony watching the teams below work and kept me updated on the progress over the 5 days we were there. The room was lovely, huge comfortable bed with lots of pillows, very spacious and loads of storage. I particularly liked the separate vanity area outside the bathroom which meant I could finish drying my hair, putting on makeup etc whilst my husband was taking his shower - almost as good as having separate bathrooms! Lots of towels were provided and plenty of nice toiletries. The room was kept very clean and the tea and coffee facilities topped up every day. Now the down side. The hotel only has one restaurant per tower which is an oriental buffet In the EWA tower and extremely expensive (yes, we know Hawaii is mega expensive but the prices for breakfast was ridiculous) and another in the Diamond Head tower offering a world class buffet breakfast. I think the other eating establishments are franchises rather than anything to do with the Hyatt company. It became pretty obvious during our stay that the hotel is very popular with and caters mainly for Asian travellers. There is a pool side bar serving food during the day but I don't believe it was open during the evening. Another minus factor for us was there was no on-site bar! Sorry, but after a day's sightseeing and time at the beach we like to chill during the evening with a drink or two in our hotel. The shops on site are all pretty much the same, tourist gifts and clothing. Although our rooms were nicely decorated the majority of the public areas were looking very tired. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay - it was a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii
