Terrible, Expensive Experience

Departure52502085623 on Jul 19, 2024

WORST EXPERIENCE . We’ve stayed here before and liked it very much. This time the bathroom door was off the track (didn’t get fixed despite complaints), terrace door off the track (didn’t get fixed despite complaints), $36 a day to self park and the gate was broken SO WE HAD TO WAIT 25 minutes to get back in. Returned to room at 4:30 pm and it still had NOT been cleaned! Late night party outdoors with loud speakers outside our area of the hotel. All-in-all a horrible expensive ($450 a night plus $144 for parking.), nerve wracking experience, Shocking. Complaints at front desk garnered snickers.

Lovely atmosphere

Would highly recommend this hotel, it has a great atmosphere. We stayed 4 nights and the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel and rooms were clean and spacious. Fantastic amenities such as a pool, shop and shuttle service to Universal Studios. A huge programme of activities on throughout the week. The Front Yard restaurant had excellent breakfast options. A short Uber to Warner Brothers Studios or Hollywood Walk of Fame. Would definitely stay here again.

AMAZING HOTEL!

Maureen G on Jul 15, 2024

The Garland is spectacular! It truly is an oasis in the middle of Hollywood. The check in with easy. The rooms were spacious and included balconies. They gave us adjoining rooms which was terrific. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the bathrooms were large. The wine and water available in the room made it so convenient. The bar and restaurant were welcoming, accommodating and the food was delicious- great for kids and adults! The pool, hot tub and pool bar were just as pictured and PERFECT!!!! We spent a great deal of time there- it was never too bus day or night. The manager and bartender were both terrific! They had a nightly movie by the pool which was a crowd pleaser. The lounge chairs and cabanas are amazing- they pay attention to every detail- even around the pool. The work out room and laundry were convenient too. We went to Universal and used the hotel trolley for the ride home- it was full at 9am to we used an Uber but that was no problem. Getting in and out of the buildings and parking was super easy. If I ever go back, we are staying at the Garland and I will recommend it to everyone I know! :)

Tropical oasis in LA

Scenic21136454744 (Denver, Colorado) on Jul 14, 2024

Absolutely loved this hotel and hope for an excuse to return. It has an old school tropical resort vibe. The public areas are always hoping with guests enjoying themselves. Definitely a hotel where people enjoy getting out of their rooms and socializing. Rooms are spacious and clean and plenty of parking. I took the short walk to the Brady bunch house and the neighborhood felt very safe. Close to both universal and Warner Brothers and found many places to eat a short drive away. The trolley to universal is great, but doesn’t leave early enough for early entry to Nintendo world. Still only a $10 Uber ride away. A delicious late night snack is the cookies and brownie bags available for takeout from the front door restaurant.

In the middle of nowhere!

egferguson (Hobart, Australia) on Jul 13, 2024

Unless you want to spend several days at Universal Studios and nothing else then this probably not hotel is not for you. It is only around 1km from there but otherwise it's in the middle of nowhere!. There are no shops or sights or parks or anything else to see. It's located way up north of Hollywood so any uber to get near all the action is around 20-30 minutes. You can't really walk to anything of interest. It is right next to the freeway so can here that all night. There are also lots of little children and the pool was packed with them and a movie so not very relaxing at all. Aesthetically the hotel is quite cute, more like a modern twist on a 1970s motel. The rooms are really basic but the beds are really soft and comfortable. Check in staff and concierge and trolly driver were friendly. We didn't look into it enough as we were rushed to find a hotel at the last minute. Otherwise I definitely wouldn't have booked it because it's too far away. Cost was around AU $650 for one night and one room.
