Overview
Come witness the urban oasis that is The Garland, a Hollywood boutique hotel featuring the perfect balance of retro-cool and casual sophistication. Fun, family-friendly and ultra-comfortable, The Garland is a convenient choice amongst hotels in Hollywood, CA.
Time has only improved this iconic Hollywood boutique hotel in the heart of LA. In 1970, legendary Hollywood actress Beverly Garland, and her husband Fillmore Crank, discovered this bucolic seven-acre property and knew they wanted to create a hideaway for friends, family and guests. Together with Las Vegas hotel impresario, John Kell Houssels Jr., they decided to build one of the most stunning North Hollywood hotels, which would serve as an oasis within the high-energy excitement of Los Angeles.
In 2000, the Beverly Garland hotel was handed down to their son James, whose unpretentious, sophisticated style influenced the expansion of the hotel into a true resort. Chic, relaxed and centrally located, guests here are close to the Hollywood landmarks, popular attractions and world-renowned business epicenters, all while being ensconced within the urban paradise the Garland family created. Today, The Garland has been reimagined and renovated with a hip new restaurant, cool décor, manicured outdoor parks and fresh ideas. Fabulous stay

We stayed for 3 nights with friends and found the hotel lovely, it’s had very friendly staff always happy to help. The hotel is a little retro but has a lovely warm atmosphere, it is very close to Universal Studios and a free shuttle is always available on the hour. Although the pool area was small we never struggled for a sun bed. If I had to say one possible negative there is no where to walk for drink or meal apart of one place (Fox & Hounds so we got the shuttle back to City Walk at night but this wasn’t a issue.
Excellent Place To Stay

We stayed for a 4 days in August 2023 whilst visiting Universal Studios and LA. The staff are all immensly friendly and helpful. There was an issue with our bill which I only realised once back in the UK but I emailed them and they sorted it out straight away so I can't fault them. We had a room upgrade on arrival and were allowed to check-in earlier than stated on their website. On the day we left they gave us a spare key card to access the pool area after check out which was nice. Our room was lovely and modern, the beds comfy and the bathroom well equipped. The pool area is very nice, with sun loungers, a couple of daybeds and cabanas around the side. There's also a fire which is lit at night whilst they show movies on a big screen around the pool - such a nice touch and gives the place a great chilled vibe. There's a great restaurant attached but the food is just as nice from the snack bar around the pool and prices are reasonable too. There's a free trolley bus which runs between the hotel and Universal Studios regularly. It will also drop you off at the Metro station on the way but doesn't stop there on the way back from the Studios. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Universal or wanting to sightsee in LA.
