A Nice Place to Stay But Not Amazing

MrsBaking (Greenville, North Carolina) on Sep 01, 2024

We unexpectedly found ourselves staying at the Royal Solaris for an anniversary trip this week. The hotel was clean, the employees friendly, and they all seem to care about the guests and the hotel. Here’s my take after 5 days: The Good: ?? The pool is nice. We only did the main pool because there’s no shade at the adult pool area. Liked the swim up bar, too. Better chairs would be a nice upgrade. ?? We got a couples massage. We liked the experience there. Very relaxing. ?? The team that books excursions was very helpful. They did a great job helping us find things to do. The Bad ???? The Food. Buffet was the only option for all meals and the food was bland and odd. If you like spaghetti noodles in watered down tomato sauce, you’ll love it. It’s served at ever meal, including breakfast. We did like the omelette bar but the rest of the food was pretty awful. The restaurants were all closed so the buffet was the only option. ???? The Alcohol. It was missing from the drinks. I expected things to be watered down but it was nonexistent. ???? The Bed. Rock hard mattress. You might as well sleep on the floor.

So disappointed!

kimjU6634AP (Lake Havasu City, Arizona) on Aug 30, 2024

We have been vacationing with this resort group since 1999 I can even count the amount of times we have stayed here. We own a timeshare here and have upgraded many times and have referred many of our friends and family over the years. We love the Cancun property the best but also stay at the Cabo resort many times. It saddens me to say that we will not be back. Half of the building is closed for updates. We were not told when we booked that there was construction. The part that is open has several holes in the ceiling throughout the hotel. I am not sure what is going on with that. The floor that we’re staying on is obviously having plumbing issues. When we checked in several of the rooms in our hallway, the doors were open with water running in the units. A couple hours later when we went back into the hallway, there was water running out of one of the units and the hallway was flooded. Our bathroom sink drains very slowly so I’m assuming that there is a drain plugged somewhere. Last week we stayed at a different resort and while it was not smoker friendly it did have multiple areas that you could smoke. We were just at the Royal Solaris Cabo a couple years ago and they did have the same kind of set up where they had designated areas. They have changed their policy without notifying members. The only place you’re allowed to smoke now, you have to walk down to the beach or you have to walk to the street, where they have a small area with some plastic chairs and ashtrays no canopy or roof covering. We are scheduled to be here until September 5. We are considering finding different accommodations or leaving early. So sad that someplace we’ve been coming for so many years has gone downhill.

10/10 experience! Relaxing and safe for solo travelers??

Mayieteh T on Aug 28, 2024

I went as a solo traveler and never felt unsafe. The food was delicious and the view was relaxing (both city and beach view). I couldn’t work the TV to put into English but it was mostly for background noise while I worked on homework. The wifi was a little spotty here and there but I think that has more to do with hopping in and out of elevators and the range. The trip itself was stress free, the beach was beautiful and clean (well preserved), leaving the resort to explore and even go down to another town for clubbing was simple and affordable but my absolute favorite part of my trip was the activities and performances at the resort. The dancers were so fun to watch and interact with both on stage and the pool! I was just enjoying it from a lounge chair and the swim up var at first but was invited to join in the activities multiple times by an amazing dancers especially, Centli! He was so sweet and enthusiastic and made me feel very welcome which cleared up any nerves I had dancing in front of strangers! I hope you get to experience the pool party on the weekends and I plan on sleeping on the beach overnight when the moon bright the next time I visit!??

Lovely dinner

Gibran and Gilberto were great! We loved the flaming coffee prepared at our table. The kids loved the food and the desserts too. The salad in a cup was cool. A great way to end our day in the sun at the pool. I hope we will be back here again some day.
