The Staff at Hyatt won't even call us back about our confirmation issues.

I am writing this and we haven't gone on our trip. We are currently scheduled to arrive here on June 18th with my wife and I and my 6 month, mother in law and 6 year old. We travel often and for sake of childcare with the little ones always try to get adjoining rooms. We understand adjoining rooms can't be done based on the type of rooms. So we called ahead and made sure our King room could adjoin to the double. We called ahead again to confirm our booking they stated we had two kings rooms despite our confirmation saying otherwise. They stated the only person who can change is not in. Then we had called back multiple times trying to change this but they keep saying the person who has the authority is not at work. This is extremely frustrating because they said it would be an extra $60 dollars per day to make the rooms the adjoining and we stated we were wiling to pay but the hotel refuses to call us back to confirm and no one at the hotel is willing to help us. The customer service at this resort is really making us anxious about this booking and we haven't even started. I think we are going to avoid Hyatt all together. To not get ahead of an issue and have no one in the hotel but one person to fix mistakes seems strange. Do better Hyatt.

Room smelled like mildew

Just okay… the swim up rooms smelled like mildew which tainted the stay. Excursions were disorganized and was an hour late for pick up from the hotel. Find another vendor to book excursions through. If I had to choose, I would find somewhere else to stay.

I highly recommend this resort. Top notch. I travel a lot and I am very pleased with this location. Awesome customer service. Great food all the restaurants. Very clean and they pay attention to details. Well maintained inside and out. Experienced traveler commenting

Terrible food

Pros: The resort itself is nice. The pool and lagoon are great. They have good music and activities at the pool side. Room was spacious with view of the ocean. We were a group of 10 and when we checked in they had already made reservations for our group at each restaurant (these were at 6:30 pm which might be too early for most people BUT you’d be done with dinner in time to catch the entertainment which starts at 7:30). The masala chai at the choissez restaurant is decent. Jerk shack has good jerk chicken and pork. Cons: staff is not very friendly or prompt. There are many staff members around but they all seem to be busy talking to each other than attending to guests. House keeping would leave random rags and cleaning bottles behind after cleaning our room. They left the trash can on the counter one time. When we went to the restaurants, the waiters would immediately ask for our appetizer/ meals before asking what we’d like to drink first. Almost like they just want you to eat and leave quickly. Although you’re staying at the Hyatt, keep in mind you’re on island time. The Calypso restaurant is supposed to open at 11:30. I arrived at 11:40 and they were still setting up and not open. The staff member didn’t apologize just said they are not ready and walked off with a shrug of her shoulders. They have a water aerobics class and after spending 15 mins on the mic getting people at the pool to sign up for the class, we had a group of 10 people in the water ready to start but NO instructor! There was no communication from the person on the mic who just disappeared and after 15 mins of us standing around, one of the GUESTS ran the class. I hope they gave her a free night. The food is TERRIBLE and as a result there is so much food waste. We had one vegetarian in our group and she had a hard time finding something palatable to eat. The rest of our group didn’t enjoy the food either. The only decent food was at the Italian and French restaurant. Not coming back again.

Friendly staff. Clean Hotel. Good food. Great vibes. Jerk Chicken was delicious. Close to the airport and airport transportation was efficient. Painted pickleball lines at the tennis courts with 4 nets. Nice gym. Variety of specialty restaurants. Be sure to make reservations at the time of arrival.
