Chateau Montebello

EricC56 (Poland, New York) on Jan 28, 2023

We visited Chateau Montebello by boat, back in 2019. We stayed on our boat in the marina, but resolved to come back some winter for a short stay. We did that a couple weeks ago. It's a one-of- a-kind place. Quite pricey, but worth a visit. Restaurant is good, but not great. There are better options in the village. Breakfast buffet is ok, but ordering off the menu is a better value. Nice variety of x country ski trails. Heated indoor pool is nice.

Good stay

LLCoolDay (Manotick, Canada) on Jan 17, 2023

Overall, we were very happy with our one night stay at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello. Check in was easy and efficient, our room was clean and well-appointed, the bed was comfy and we had a good sleep. The grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed a nice long walk along the ski trails and next time, would make time to partake in some of the included activities like cross-country skiing. The only disappointment was our dinner at the restaurant....I ordered the mahi mahi (substituted by the restaurant because there was no cod available) and it was really without flavour which was disappointing as I had high hopes for an excellent meal. Other than that minor issue, we had a wonderful night away and I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Fantastic experience overall

Chateau Montebello is a fantastic and unique experience! The main lobby with its soaring fireplace is the perfect place to unwind. The friendly staff and the house dog made this a great vacation for our family.

New Year's Eve @ Chateau Montebello

Joe B on Jan 07, 2023

We spent two nights at Chateau Montebello to celebrate New Years Eve. It is a great resort for indoor and outdoor activities; lots to keep you busy. The hotel is charming and the enormous lobby fireplace is a great place to relax. The New Year's Eve party was well done, the band was great, but the dinner was frankly disappointing and overpriced. That being said, the New Year's day brunch buffet was great. The rooms are quaint, rustic and comfortable, but not nearly as chic as other Fairmount hotels.

Great Bones But It's Gone Downhill

674edwardn on Jan 06, 2023

The setting and history of the Hotel are amazing, however the overall fit and finish of the hotel has really gone down hill. Food options are limited and overpriced, common area furniture is very worn, leaking ceilings in curling lounge, pool area change rooms are musty and very dated, hot tubs are cheap and luke warm. The bones of the resort are incredible, hope the ownership will return the place to its original glory. The room rates and food costs are not in line with the offering unfortunately.
