Great for Celiac Safe Family Holiday

Kreb76 (Ottawa, Canada) on Apr 13, 2024

We really enjoyed our stay, but noticed a few differences since our 2017 visit that made it not as fantastic as it once was - no bistro serving kid approved food in a kid friendly atmosphere. Aux chantignoles is lovely, but not the place for kids at dinner time; not enough robes in our room at the start of our stay; less seating around the fireplace; hotel looking a little rundown. However, the staff were all wonderful, friendly, and helpful. The pool was lovely and the March Break activities for kids were great. We particularly appreciated how easy it was to order gluten free food for my son with celiac disease.

Obscenely priced for what you get

k_girl883 (Russell, Canada) on Mar 29, 2024

We paid an obscene amount of money to stay in a very dated room. It was the cheapest room they had. The carpet had spots and needed to be stretched (it was buckling in several spots). There was garbage (wrappers and Kleenex) left over from previous customers in and around the night stand. The caulking in the bathroom looked like it was applied by a blind person. The upholstery on the desk chair was ripped. Its only redeeming quality is that the bed appeared to be clean and the bed is comfortable. I do want to say that the property itself is very nice, lots do it (for extra money) in a beautiful location. The bar man was very nice, although the drinks overpriced (not his doing). The check in man (Grégoire) was also very nice and explained where everything was and answered all our questions. The lobby is honestly the best part of this whole ordeal, the fireplace is out of this world and of course the log architecture is very unique. In short, I would come enjoy the property again, but I would not stay here.

Breathtaking.

Chateau Montebello is our home away from home. The service is outstanding and the staff are amazing and warm. Love the log chateau, but what makes us coming back a few times every year is the service, and the staff, they go way above and beyond. They make us feel like family. Always looking forward to going back. See you all in July for another summer vacation. ????

Feel Like a "SomeBody"

Edward B (Ottawa) on Mar 29, 2024

My wife & I took a 3 day mini vacation at Chateau Montebello. From the moment you arrive till you leave ,you are taken care of. The porters/front desk offered a seamless, easy checkin while at the same pointing out options for activities/dining. One of the main activities my wife was looking forward to was spa treatments. Upon mentioning to Sylvie at the Spa, that my wife has Parkinson's, she immediately called all of the available masseusses to gauge experience dealing with a Parkinson's person. She found one, and the result was the best massage my wife had ever received. My wife felt that if a massage was this good, lets try a facial.....same excellent result. Thank you Sylvie for enabling a very positive experience for my wife. My wife is also "Celiac", thus no gluten in any dining experience. I had mentioned this to the front desk staff enquiring about gluten free dining options outside of the resort in the village of Montebello. I then sheepishly added that I could not speak French thus feeling uncomfortable in calling to verify what was possible. The front desk gentleman immediately offered to call and very quickly provided options, which turned out to be incredible. Each day of our stay we enjoyed the ambience of the lobby fire place, sitting nearby reading and chatting. Bruno the bartender would come by each afternoon to see if we woul like anything from the bar. We did on every occasion. A hint....Bruno makes the best margheritas. He even offered glasses to take back to our rooms to enjoy beverages we had brought from home. Patricia from the cleaning team was outstanding in making sure our room (home away from home) was spotless and we had all we required. The pool and workout areas were also very enjoyable. After a day or so, I started noticing that the staff all knew my name. They would greet you by your name, smile and "can I help you with anything". As our stay was coming to an end we knew we had to come back in the summer. To help in this regard I found the gentleman, Nicholas Charet, who initially booked us into the Chateau. He once again very patiently, reviewed all options that would would work best for my wife, and our schedule. We are coming back in August to be a "somebody" once again.

First timer

My sister and I visited from Toronto, we went to Quebec for a few different excursions and ended off in Montebello. We stayed at Fairmont and it exceeded out expectations. This is the first time we had stayed at a fairmont location and it didn't disappoint. The grounds were beautiful, though it was a little chilly so we were only by the water for a little while. We spent most of the time in the foyer. It was beautiful, spacious and calmer than most hotel foyers. We had an amazing vocalist/instrumentalist while we were there. We ordered a couple of drinks/ coffees and the hummus board and it didn't disappoint. The rooms were clean, spacious and fairly modern (wifi/ TV) while also maintaining that "cabin in the woods" feeling. I know they have walking trails and other activities but we weren't able to stay long enough to experience it. Hopefully we can come back again in the summer or fall. The staff was also wonderful; very personable, friendly and thankfully spoke english. It was a great experience that I would recommend to others in a heartbeat!
