Our family of 2 adults and 2 children just stayed here for 3 nights. Overall, we had a good time, the grounds are beautiful, and the activities plentiful. The breakfast buffet was also delicious and full of variety. The staff were friendly as well. That said, for a fairmont property and the price, several aspects were below the standard we would expect. Our room was not fully stocked upon arrival (e.g., the body wash had not been refilled, the light on the makeup mirror was not working, the blankets and pillows promised for the pullout bed were missing). We also learned, upon arrival, that there was an issue with the water in the region, and so the water was not drinkable. Though this was out of the property’s control, the room was not stocked with bottled water. When we did request all these things, the hotel staff did attend to them, but we would have expected them to be ready to begin with. In addition, we appreciate that fairmont properties are classic and this property is historic. That said, aspects of the property were in a state of disrepair. For example, the carpets in the rooms were filthy and full of stains, and no longer secured to the floor, and the room bathroom had not been updated probably ever. The outdoor pool was nice to spend time in and the grounds around it nice, but it could use a paint job and cleaning (the scum lines need some serious scrubbing). On a positive note, at some point the mattresses in the rooms had likely been updated as the bed was very comfortable. While the staff were extremely friendly, we are used to somewhat more upscale service at other 4-5 star hotels/resorts (e.g., towels and umbrellas being set up around pools by staff). Overall, we had a good experience, but it was below our expectations for the price and for a fairmont property.

Our family stay at Fairmont Le Château Montebello was outstanding — a true 5-star experience with a character all its own. Unlike other Fairmont properties that lean into polished luxury, Montebello offers something more authentic: a heritage lodge atmosphere that feels warm, lived-in, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home. The rooms reflect that same charm. They’re smaller than in many modern Fairmonts, but full of character — cozy, comfortable, and perfectly aligned with the resort’s historic feel. It’s a refreshing change from the typical luxury-hotel blueprint. The range of activities is exceptional and ideal for families. We spent our days running, cycling, paddle boarding, and canoeing, all surrounded by beautiful scenery that makes every moment feel special. The pools were another highlight — clean, inviting, and perfect for relaxing after being outdoors. Breakfast was simply incredible — the best we’ve had in a hotel in a long time. High-quality ingredients, great variety, and staff who were consistently friendly and attentive. It set the tone for each day and became something we genuinely looked forward to. Montebello combines luxury with authenticity, comfort, and a sense of place that’s hard to find elsewhere. A fantastic family stay, and one we’d return to without hesitation.

Charming, rustic property in a scenic location. Staff were very helpful & friendly - especially the girl serving at the bar. The initial, renovated room we booked was very compact so we upgraded to a larger room which was much better. Enjoyed the varied breakfast options - delicious smoothies. Many recreational options available - hot, sunny weather allowed us to spend some time at the outdoor pool. Perfect hotel location for a visit to Parc Omega!

Our cottage away from home . Chateau Montebello has been our summer and fall and winter and spring getaway for many years . Service and staff are outstanding they always go above and beyond to make our stay so magical . We always look so forward to our next . Chateau Montebello will always be our home away from home ??????

Spent a few nights here on a Canadian road trip. Lots of pros: Good breakfast choice (could do with more fruit). Comfortable room. (We did upgrade on arrival!). Beautiful peaceful location, well kept. Stunning core to hotel, fantastic design. Very wilderness lodge feel. Great bar staff, nothing is too much trouble. Also breakfast and dinner team were very helpful. Complimentary parking. Cons: Reception staff generally were ok but a couple were extremely abrupt and actually only appeared happy when attempting to upsell. Not a pleasant check in process but we have fed back to the manager, so no more to be said.
