Nice basic hotel

Matashthomas (Hensol, United Kingdom) on Sep 20, 2026

We had a double room for myself, my wife and 2 kids and stayed for 2 weeks. For impressions on arrival and they didn’t change throughout my stay is the lobby is very busy there a constant flow of new guests arriving which means a long wait should you require to speak to any staff, there are consoles for nearly 20 staff to work at the front desk at the same time but I didn’t see more than 5 at any one time, my advice would be to use the phone in the room for quick enquiries and go very early in the morning should you want a face to face chat. I will say once you get through the long queue the staff on the front desk are outstanding, very knowledgable and happy to assist with all queries which probably assists to the long queue. The rooms are clean and have all necessary amenities from a family stay, although storage space is very limited on standard double room, we had 3 cases and couldn’t hang all our clothes or place away in a drawers provide but there is space under the bed for the cases so by keeping some clothes. In the case they are at least out of the way. The restaurant in the area has plenty of choice, it’s a uk service station style restaurant with 4 or 5 different desks or food fridges for some items and you go to the till once you’ve gathered all your items to purchase, then find a seat, it’s not a table service restaurant, but perfect is you want a no frills meal, it’s not fine dining a lot of beige food. Staff are great and will happily make orders to request should you or your child not like certain foods. Buy the refillable for the kids if you intend on having a few chill out days at the hotel they’ll pay for themselves in the long run The bar area is small showing sport and the staff and very helpfully There is universal shop in the hotel it’s has a limited selection of items, i would suggest waiting to go the parks themselves before purchasing anything unless there is a specific item you just have. The pool area is large and never really fills up so there are always loungers available, bar area serving drinks and soft drink refill station also towel stations so you can grab had many towels as you need there is no restrictions, also a life jacket station for non swimmers and small kids which id free and excellent. The biggest problem with the pool area and the entire hotel are the life guard or fun police, it’s a shame in a hotel where all the staff all the staff are so helpful these guys are so miserable in the area where people are trying have the most amount of fun in the hotel. There is a list of rules which are obviously in place for safety but these guys are aggressive and just rude in applying the rules, considering there are as many of them around the pool as there are people on the front desk most days they are hardly rushed off their feet. The do seem selective on the rules they apply happily blowing their whistles at children for splashing or playing with the wrong type of ball or many other crimes, but gladly turning a blind eye to the no eating in the pool whilst groups of adults drink alcoholic drinks. If you intend on along stay at the hotel with kids I would consider that the kids might not have as much fun in the pool as you might hope them to The shuttle service to the parks is excellent with the bus stops right outside the front entrance and wait times no long than 10 mins most times. There’s a wall greens and 7 11 bit 5 min walks from the hotel and the I trolly stop is about 10 mins walk. Overall a decent hotel, I would say it’s a 3+ star hotel based on its amenities ideal if you just need a base and intend to spend your days on the move but if you intend to stay at the hotel longer and want a bit more comfort and luxury maybe look at different hotel. The best part of the hotel is the staff in the building the poorest part of the hotel is the staff in the pool area.

Consistently good (aside from Brits vaping poolside)

Donna H (Bristol, United Kingdom) on Sep 19, 2026

This was our 5th trip to Dockside. It’s always stress free, (mostly!) clean and we walk away with bucket loads of memories-here are some things I’ve learnt along the way. Firstly. The refillable cup is a must if you’re staying for a long period. It’s about $30 for a 2 week stay and that will allow you free refills of all and any fizzy drink you can think of. Also water. Coffee etc. a must good value especially over a longer period. We prefer tower 1 (previously preferred tower 2! But tower 1 I feel tips it for us. Tower 2’s pool is zero entry so that may be important to you and I also feel like they tend to place more younger families in that tower, probably for this reason. Pre request a high floor and a pool view (we’ve always had a comp upgrade for this). Plenty of sunbeds. Definitely no sunbed wars here. Free towels poolside. You’re also likely to share the pools with 2 resident ducks! One thing I noticed this year that I haven’t in previous years is the number of vapers poolside. It definitely hasn’t been an issue before now, but we noticed mainly brits vaping. Americans don’t seem to be huge vapers or they do it elsewhere but brits are keen vapers poolside. I felt it a little uncouth-it obviously has a huge family draw and I’m not sure it’s the place for it but, but that’s just my personal preference. Another issue we feel is getting worse year on year is the food. The quality. Service and the temperature!! They take soooooo looooong!! Not just to cook it (if it’s cooked fresh) but to serve you. It’s just too long a process all round. Other than that (& maybe the very high cost of drinks esp alcohol throughout the resort) I feel like there isn’t anything to complain about. We love the place. It’s convenient for I drive whilst still having the universal perks. It’s clean. Safe. Tidy. All staff are pleasant. We’re already booked for next May, as one of our daughters will be getting married in Disney and honeymooning in Dockside-and we can’t wait to visit again. Thanks for making our stay post husbands double heart attack so special and we’ll be back soon.

Worth the price and just across the highway from the parks.

Vacation8675301 (kferrell1) on Sep 15, 2026

This was our 2nd time staying here. Check in was quick since we had done everything prior. There is a Starbucks in the lobby that is constantly busy and does not do mobile orders but I was thankful to get a glass of tea to take the parks every morning. Room smelled clean and looked good upon arrival. No real problems here. Parking gets full fast and there is a parking garage on the side of the hotel area for customers. We had no problems getting parking in the garage each night after coming back from the parks. The cafe area catered to all appetites and was not too bad price rise. It was nice that it was open to come back to each night and early each morning. Rooms were mostly quiet. No problems here.

Definitely will stay there again

This hotel is amazing! Super clean, beds are comfy. We loved the pool at tower 2. Buses to the parks run almost continuously. There’s a Walgreens about a block away. The food court was way pricey for what it had.
