Disappointed with room allocation.

980vivh on Aug 20, 2026

We booked a 9 night stay at Surfside, with a third party holiday company, from the UK. We requested 2 rooms adjacent which we understood was not guaranteed. However we were quite upset when we were placed 6 floors apart. We complained when we arrived and again the next day, but were told that as we were put in the same tower block ( out of 2) that this was the best they could do. Reception staff and manager said they would be in touch via email/ phone if they could do something about moving us closer but they never did. This was overall disappointing. I would not like other families similar to us, to book thinking that surely they could find rooms, say on the same floor, in a hotel of around 750 rooms.

OLD VIBE

Moshe S on Aug 14, 2026

The hotel has a noticeably dated, old-fashioned feel and could definitely use some updating. Unfortunately, there were also several issues with the room. The TV wasn't working properly, and none of the phones in the room seemed to work. The worst part, however, was the bedding. The blankets were extremely thin and rough—more like pool towels than actual hotel blankets. They were so uncomfortable that I had a hard time sleeping throughout the night. Overall, between the outdated atmosphere, malfunctioning amenities, and especially the poor-quality bedding, the stay was disappointing and not nearly as comfortable as I expected from a hotel.

Family holiday at Universal

jackandpoppy (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom) on Aug 03, 2026

Location is perfect for all Universal studios. The transport between the parks was excellent. It’s right on International Drive which was handy for restaurants. The atmosphere is very much towards family’s We had a two bedroom suite which was spacious but very little storage space. We read quite a few reports stating the hotel is noisy. Yes this is true but turned quiet after 11:00 The swimming pool is excellent and always had two lifeguards on duty. The only issue we had was our room was not cleaned for two days which we reported. There is a pool bar which was a bit expensive I would recommend this hotel and you can get around easily without a car.

Fantastic

Loved this hotel. Room was spacious and was ideal for our family. We had two large beds, a mini fridge, safe, tv and excellent air con! The bathroom has a walk in shower, hairdryer and a retractable washing line. The location of the hotel is great. There’s a Walgreens. IHOP, kfc and 7 eleven all a few minutes walk away. The restaurant food was good, we particularly liked the pizzas. I would say a little bit pricy but we still ate there. The refillable endless summer cups are fantastic value for money. We also used the Starbucks most days, which we loved having in the hotel. The buses to the universal parks are fantastic. They are very frequent and only take a few minutes to get to the parks. There are two bus stands. One for city walk which takes you to universal studios and islands of adventure and one for volcano bay and epic adventure. We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Orlando.

Great hotel in Orlando if you are there to go to Universal Parks.

Great hotel for our Orlando holiday. Excellent bus service to and from universal parks. Pool is open from 9am to 11pm meaning after a hot long day, you can have a nice dip in the pool before bed. Pool was also huge and had a great vibe. Definitely recommend for a family stay in Orlando.
