They Treat you as a Values Guest, not a Number!
Michael M (Fountain Hills, Arizona) on Dec 20, 2025
We are halfway through our weekend stay but wanted to write a review during my downtime while the kids are enjoying the pool. We booked this hotel to celebrate our kids’ birthdays with a few of their friends, and the staff has been wonderful to make them feel special! When we arrived, they provided an upgraded room for us and in our room were some wonderful treats they curated for my kids birthdays along with some coupons for some Christmas treats and drinks and a very thoughtful, hand written card. Later, although I didn’t hear the knock, they also delivered under the door another hand written card from the guest experiences team that they clearly spent some time on, with hand-drawings and colors that put smiles on my kids face. This seems so silly, but that was the point! These cards weren’t just typed words on paper, but rather it was written and decorated as if one of my kids friends would’ve written and decorated the card. I am in the kind of business that tailors client experiences to create a “wow.” I’ve read (and my company lives” the book, “Unreasonable Hospitality” about the type of experiences the number one restaurant in the world curates for their guests. It is clear that this hotel has read that book and strives to make each guest feel valued, not as a number, but as a person. This is the kind of hotel I will continue to take my family to. Thank you to the Kierland Team for making my family feel special. My kids and their friends will remember this for years to come.
Parents Beware - Do Not Use The Villas Kids Club!

The employees at the resort are lovely. We had a great experience with them all; however, for childcare they market using The Westin Kierland Villas Kids Club. Parents, beware - do not. It is a complete gamble who you will receive watching your child - an actual childcare professional or someone who works in other areas of the hotel and is covering. They find it completely acceptable to leave a solo child and solo adult (male, most of the time) alone in a room with little visibility and no cameras. The first day they did not feed my child for 6 hours despite me checking in halfway through the day in person, asking if she ate and being told they'd feed her right then. The majority (not all) of The Villas staff I encountered was very different than the resort - defensive, not interested in improvement and completely condescending. The Kids Club at The resort cannot be used as childcare, they offer classes. We went to one class and all the staff were wonderful. I appreciate the resort's efforts to take responsibility for the villas. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, they say that they are two separate entities. If this is the case - they should not market the child care as serving both areas.

Strange visit. For a decade now, I have stayed here once or twice a year. My visits are usually fantastic. This time, however, I was in town for a quick business trip (two night stay) and the experience was quite poor compared to my previous visits. I checked in somewhat late in the evening due to a flight delay. The hotel staff had put me in a ground floor room with a murphy bed. I didn’t think much of it at the time and I was late for my business dinner so I simply dropped off my bag and rushed out the door. When I got back, it was very late and when I went to bed. I realized the mattress was not the standard Westin mattress, but again, it was so late I didn’t have any time to do anything about it. The next morning, the staff was more than willing to get me moved into a different room with a non-– murphy bed arrangement (this time in the 5th floor). However, the room they moved me to hadn’t been fully cleaned - the bathroom was quite yucky. Lots of hair from the previous customer. And of course I didn’t realize that until I went to bed that evening. Both rooms were a bit dated and run-down. My entire stay was just not the high-quality experience that I have come to expect from this property. I will likely try out one of the other, newer competing properties in Scottsdale on my next visit.
Wasted time and money

Sub standard at the most. This hotel needs an update, housekeeping was very spotty from day to day. The front desk was helpful. The food was boring and bland. We learned quickly that it’s better to go out. I shouldn’t have to mention the TP but it was so very thin!!! It’s funny how you judge simple things, even better at the airport!! lol We won’t be going back.
