Poor Customer Service at Front Desk
Jeannette C (New York City, New York) on Jul 19, 2026
I've stayed at this hotel several times and have always enjoyed it. My 7-year-old especially loves the Kids Club, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. Unfortunately, during our current stay, I had a very disappointing experience after adding a second room for family members. The front desk associate told me that the issue was that I booked through IHG instead of Iberostar directly, and I "should have known better" than to use my first name as the primary guest when I already had an existing reservation (and that it didn't matter what was on my email). As I tried to explain that I had provided my family members name as well and show that the email reflected this, he repeatedly interrupted me, rolled his eyes, and even laughed while I was expressing my frustration. I found his behavior dismissive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. When I asked to speak to someone else, he continued laughing at stated that it wouldn't matter and walked away to call his colleague over. The interaction was so unpleasant that I seriously considered checking out early and moving to another hotel. Thankfully, Gabriel stepped in and resolved the issue quickly and professionally. Later, Peter completed our check-in and was incredibly understanding, patient, and courteous. Both Gabriel and Peter changed the direction of what had started as a very negative experience, and I truly appreciate their excellent customer service. Aside from that unfortunate interaction, the rest of the staff has been pretty good and I'll see how the rest of the week goes. The housekeeping team has been consistently warm and attentive, and Jordy at the bar has also been exceptional. I hope management addresses the lack of professionalism and poor customer service displayed by the initial front desk associate, as it was completely out of step with basic standard of hospitality.
Great Experience

My family and I vacationed at Iberostar during July in 2026. Our experience started at the airport where because of the e-ticket we had a horrible experience compiled with the airplane flight delay. However, when we got to the hotel we were greeted by Lucy, our concierge; then that is when our experience changed. Lucy was the brightest star in the hotel. She went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated right going as far as getting us meds when we fell ill. Would definitely recommend the ambiance and experience that Iberostar has to offer and hope that whoever books a trip there they get to have Lucy as their concierge.
pretty good, but we all got sick.

good - solid wifi connection everywhere - the shows are VERY good - lots of chairs around the pool and beach, and not hard finding ones in shade either - food is overall very good! - very few mosquitos - beach very nice. not clear water, but no rocks, jelly fish, and minimal seaweed. staff clean most seaweed daily as well bad: - i got severe food poisoning. my wife and daughter as well. now this has happened at other places in Dominican as well, so i don't want to blame the resort, BUT, i did see hamburgers that were VERY pink inside. also ice scoop at the buffet, handle that everyone touches goes into direct contact with the ice! saw staff drop a spoon on the chair, and pick it up and put it at place setting for next person to use. - service is just OK, in terms of being offered drinks, water, clearing plates, etc - the reusable water bottle left in our room was already used - nasty!! what if someone drank directly out of it?? it was wet inside with a closed lid. moisture inside of a closed container equals bacteria, and mold! the reusable water bottles should be brand new wrapped in plastic, or leave each room with sealed plastic water bottles. - line ups for eggs in the morning, and also pasta station at dinner get long! noticed the egg line was a mess, so unorganized. the egg guy will ask you what you want and you are so far from him so you cant even see all the options. - if you speak English, its a bit challenging speaking to many of the employees.
Iberostar Resort Beach a Bust & Imposter Employees

We booked this excursion through Carnival during our cruise stop at Amber Cove for our family of four. The excursion started off great. We met at the dock and boarded a comfortable, air-conditioned motorcoach. Our tour guide, Amanda, was tour guide. When we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed, given wristbands and towels, and shown where the food and drink stations were located along with the serving times. Unfortunately, the beach was disappointing. There was a significant amount of seaweed, and the shoreline was very rocky, making it much less enjoyable than we expected. Our biggest concern was the individuals on the beach posing as resort workers. The first person approached us trying to sell marijuana, telling us it was available just down the beach. Shortly afterward, another man with a parrot insisted we hold the bird for photos and then demanded money. We politely told both individuals we were not interested, but they continued lingering around us. It made us uncomfortable, so we decided to leave the beach and spend the rest of our day at the pool. The pool area was very nice, the food was good, the drinks were truly unlimited, and the resort staff were friendly and welcoming. We felt safe once we were away from the beach vendors. The only other negative part of the day was the return bus ride. The driver played Dominican music at an extremely loud volume for the entire trip. It was so loud that it was uncomfortable and actually hurt our ears. Several passengers, including us, asked if the volume could be turned down, but our requests were ignored. Overall, The resort, the pool, the food, and the drinks were excellent. However, the aggressive beach vendors and the unpleasant return bus ride took away from what could have been a five-star experience.
