Gastro infections

Maxim N on May 02, 2026

Half of our group got sick with gastro infections. I spoke with other guests seems it's going on for a couple of months and still active. With 20 years of all inclusive travel first time i see that, so it's on the hotel I'd say. Service is lazy and inconsistent. If not it would be just a general all inclusive resort with nothing exceptional.

Disappointed

KellyNL058 (Red Deer, Canada) on May 01, 2026

Am here now, have 4 more days and disappointed. We are not fancy travelers, we dont have high standards and this resort is falling short. I did alot of research before coming. We were told some people get sick from the Japanese restaurant so we opted out of that, however 1 of us got sick from the Italian and I personally got very sick from the Mexican. We have been traveling over 10 yrs and I have never gotten sick anywhere before. Be aware if you want to eat at the restaurants! Our room is in builing 7 on the 3rd floor, good view of the pool HOWEVER when it rains our ceiling leaks and one of us slipped and fell on the tile floor, hurt our back hit our head and hurt our wrist. It also smells very musty/moldy in here. The housekeeping is less then great.. someone elses hair on the door in the bathroom as well as the floor, no towels when we arrived. The pool is FULL of bird poop, hair, bandaids and other things that shouldn't be in a pool. Its absolutely repulsing in the afternoon you cannot walk anywhere without someone elses hair being on you! The beach has a fair amount of garbage on it with not alot of covered seating. The service is ok, nothing outstanding, no one to praise that went over and above to help out. The "concierges" do nothing but bug you to take a "90 min" presentation for a time share that actually takes over 3 hrs of your day and they dont tell you the truth about pricing until you catch onto their lies. This is so they can get paid $60-$80 USD in their pocket. It is our 1st time to Puerto Plata and the Costa Dorada, and we would not return.

Employees

The employees were very energetic and always kept the vacation vibe going. Shout out to Lis from reception Nicole from the cigar station, King Kong, Ninja, Bubaloo, and the guy from archery. (I forgot his name)

The staff keep us coming back

TA-USERDEC21 (St. John's, Canada) on Apr 29, 2026

Been coming to this resort for over 15 years Guessing we’ve been here at least a dozen times. Here’s what I noticed this time around. Renovated rooms are great. Love the new showers Air conditioning works great and love the ceiling fan for that extra level of comfort. Lots of hangers and the new safes are fantastic!! Oh and the new key on the wristband….OUTSTANDING!!!!! There was a noticeable improvement in the food. Never really had any major complaints here but we did notice a marked improvement. Duck a l’orange was really good as were the sushi bowls and the meat selections each evening. Love the chocolate fountain and fresh fruit and the desserts, which were just beautiful before are now both beautiful and tasty. The dominican oatmeal is a personal favorite. We look forward to that every morning. What hasn’t changed and what really keeps us coming back is the staff. We are made to feel like family. Overall the service is great. The only negative is that some (not all) of the courtyard wait staff are not the best. They will do anything to avoid eye contact, carrying around trays of empty glasses while avoiding taking drink orders. As I said, this is a few people and certainly doesn’t apply to all but is something that the management needs to be aware of. Enough of the negative. As I said, the staff is what keeps us coming back. From Daniel at the front desk to Rossina in guest services to Kennedy, Ladie, Yselle, Domingo, Elvis and our little lady that keeps the main buffet looking clean and tidy and who could forget Virginia who left our rooms spotless every day. It may not seem like a lot to the staff but being welcomed back with a warm smile and hugs is a great way to start a vacation. Seeing Domingo’s big smile as we enter the main buffet each day can’t help but start the day off right. We don’t sit in his section but that doesn’t matter. He always has a huge smile for us anyways. Kennedy is the best. He takes amazing care of us and always makes us feel welcome. We miss Ladie in the bar but we still get to see her in the main buffet and the Japanese restaurant…she’s wonderful as is Yiselle (apologize for the misspellings ??). I know I’ve missed people but with a few minor exceptions, the staff are all wonderful. Sad to leave but looking forward to seeing the pool renovation in November. Until then…thanks for everything!!!

Another great Holiday

Lynn P on Apr 29, 2026

Another amazing holiday spent here. Rooms are very clean, loads of towels and facecloths thanks to our amazing maid Virginia. The buffett is better than it was our last trips, shootout to Kennedy and Domingo. Mexican is delish, thank you Leidy and Yisell. Thanks to our lady at guest services Rossina Garcia for helping whenever we had a small issue. We have been coming here for 20 years and the staff here is what makes this place so amazing and always brings us back. This trip we used pesos rather than US and worked out way better for us as Canadians. Thanks again for another amazing holiday.
