Amazing Staff, Great Food, and a Relaxing Stay
AmandaH2035 on May 02, 2026
All the staff were amazing during our stay and really made the experience enjoyable. The food and drinks were excellent, and overall we loved the hotel. Our only complaint was the beach bar. It no longer serves food and doesn’t have any bathrooms, which made it less appealing to spend time there for us. Because of this, we didn’t spend as much time at the beach as we would have liked. That said, we still had a great stay and appreciated many aspects of this hotel and highly recommend.
Disgusting

My previous review was removed. Our take away was $85. The food was disgusting in both presentation and ingredients used. The beef is low quality and tough. The shrimp were dry, hard, and chewy. Our order was also incomplete. $85 of inedible slop thrown away.
Chill vibe for a family vacation

We loved our week-long stay at Hacienda Buenaventura. The staff was wonderfully friendly and so accommodating. We travelled with our 6 month old baby and they were so sweet with him. I cannot say enough good things about the servers in the restaurant. They made our trip extra special. Throughout the majority of our stay, the hotel was extremely quiet. No lines for the restaurant and no need to fight for a lounge chair by the pool. Ideal with quiet days and nights with a baby. Come the weekend, it was definitely a different story. It got to 100% capacity over the weekend and was extremely busy. That being said, it was cool to see so many families getting day passes to the hotel on the weekend and we loved seeing all of the other kids in the pool! All in all - we loved this place during the week because it was so chill. 5 stars - 10/10 experience, without a doubt!… but on the weekend, it was pretty overwhelmingly busy. If you’re wanting a party place with lots of things to do, this isn’t the place for you. It’s small and laid back with lots of locals staying at the hotel on the weekend, which is a vibe. PS. Keep in mind that this place isn’t on the beach and although there is a reserved area at the beach close by, there are no bathrooms or snacks there, and it’s pretty rough. The pool was perfect for us, but if you’re a beach goer, this might not be the place for you.
A little underwhelming - not for solo travellers

The rooms are nice. Some are better than others. I knew that because the AC wasn't working in my first room and the washroom was leaking. They moved me at midnight to another room that is better because it's "bigger", but the view for the first was better, and the shower in the first had better pressure and was renovated. The food is nothing special. I was really sad when I saw that the majority of the buffet is pasta and pizza. What was advertised is an "authentic" experience. I was happy every time they offered mole. The cocktails are very good, especially at the pool, and they have shows (singers and musicians) during the evening. The staff is really friendly. So that was a plus! There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, so it's very convenient to be downtown in 20 minutes. If you're looking for something truly "MEXICAN" then this is not your spot. I think if I had a family, it would've been better. Definitely not for solo travellers.
