Lovely grounds and gardens, nice wildlife pelicans, reefs, egrets, eagles, ghekos and lizards. We stayed in a bungalow and found the room pleasant. We did request open front and got garden view which turned into our advantage as it is noisy on the sea front.
In fact the resort is quite noisy from 7am to midnight, due to the animations and parties. Don't get too excited, the entertainment is poor and very "samey" so by your second week your eye starts twitching at the first beat of the daily routine. This hotel is geared up for the Italians, so be prepared to be frowned at frequently for enjoying yourself. The food, I feel nauseous thinking about it. First all inclusive holiday I have been on where I have lost weight. The buffet food is cold, the restaurant food is warm at best. If you are looking for a full english breakfast or even a bit of cooked bacon then this hotel is not for you. In fact after the second day, we stopped getting up for breakfast and just had coffee later on. Ground beef, broccoli and zucchiji are on offer for breakfast.... but you can have pancakes and pastries in abundance. Dissappointed there were so little Dominican dishes on offer.
The best restaurants were Fusion Latino and Viva Mexico. I left the Atlantis restaurant still hungry, starter was one scallop in a brandy glass and a thimble full of sauce. Main was three shrimps and warm cup full of cous cous. Husband had the lobster, but most of it was burnt to a crisp with all the good bits removed. If you want some sort of service, tip but not too generously. Nothing more than 5 USD. I made the mistake of tipping 20 USD and soon learned 3 to 5 got me the same service. The hotel app is great for reserving restaurants but was a little put off by being summoned to the Guest Services because I honestly gave 2 restaurants a 2 star rating. I gave my opinion to Guest Services but nothing came of it and was a waste of time. My husband lost his spectacles and when we went to Guest Services to see if anybody handed them in we found the staff member chatting up a Guest. Once we were eventually noticed, we were told to come back tomorrow as the lost property was locked. This clearly was a fob off in pursuit of lust. The access cards fault if put near a magneti ie your phone case cover. After the first time mine faulted, I kept it away from my phone but it faulted again anyway. The toilets block frequently across the resort, and there is no urgency to free them. We found the best food was served outside the hotel. Don't be scared to venture out those gates, the People in the Dominicus area are lovely, serve better food and drinks and offer better service. It is a shame really as the resort has such potential. I speak some French, Spanish and Italian so managed to get what I needed after some fashion, however if you just speak English be prepared for your drinks orders to not be what you requested. A must do is a night at Coco Bongo, or anywhere really to get you out of the resort. Be prepared to be approached several times a day by Viva club reps trying to get you to become a member, avoid sitting by the cigar shop they will hound you. The cigar shop is ace BTW but you can get the same stuff outside the grounds for half the price. The Viva reps will tell you it is better to buy in resort but then they are paid to tell you that. Worse than the reps are the mozzies but you expect them in them tropics. Worse than the mozzies are the people trying to flog you massages. All in all we loved the Dominican Republic once we got out the resort.
Best Resort Restaurant Ever!

The service a Viva Mexico was exceptional! The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Wilmer and Miguelin went out there way to make sure that we had 2 enjoyable nights of dinner. The manager was there as well making sure the night we had the best service. It’s because of this that we will always stay at this resort when visiting the DR.
Ok stay if you don't mind a lack of communication and service

The grounds are well looked after. It's a beautiful place and excellent beach.
Unfortunately, the staff did not have much English so communicating was difficult and some were rude.
Majority of guests are French, Italian, German or Spanish so it mostly caters for them. We found The service not very good but did a one particular older waiter who was amazing, always made us welcome and kept us topped up with coffee and juice at breakfast.
The room was ok, it had a recent touch of paint but the door frames on the front door and bathroom were cracked and coming away from the walls. I think previous reviews had encouraged the touch ups.
The cleaners were great though, and always left us a towel animal and flowers on our bed everyday so We made sure to tip them.
We definitely would not stay at a viva wyndham again.

Terrible hygiene, unapproachable staff.
Wasps everywhere, including in cocktails and soft drinks, bird poo never cleaned up
Got a parasitic bug whilst there and still undergoing treatment 2 months later!
Lovely setting and layout but 0/10 for hygiene and cleanliness
Do not come here

Worst experience ever. The staff in charge of decisions make the worst decisions. We had a bad experience in our rooms the first day, everything that was promised was not delivered, so we want to tell the office and they offered us an extra night stay. When it came to the extra day, they told us it was not valid and we can not stay the extra day. Now we have no accommodations for one night, stuck in the streets of a foreign country. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!!
