One of the worst resorts’ one positive the gym was a bit small but great equipment
Christine L (Saskatoon, Canada) on Feb 22, 2026
Just returned from an eight day stay with my daughter upon arrival to the resort it looked clean and welcoming, but surprisingly very small. This opened in 2024 and that was a partial opening and then 2025. The rest opened so we had expectations of a really nice modern clean resort however this was not the case. Our room was very simple not even lotion in the bathroom there were no towels there was no water pressure or wasn’t any hot water or you were scolding yourself or you didn’t have any water no water pressure anytime you tried to take a shower didn’t matter time of day. The food was very plain simple it was a big disappointment. I always enjoy having a nice variety salad. The salad bar had lettuce and cucumbers and a whole bunch of very odd mixed up creamy stuff no fresh tomatoes, no onions no croutons. The salad dressings were sour. The only thing it had going forward was the pizza focaccia bread, and the one day that they had guacamole dip we were booked to go to Cuba and because of all the problems in Cuba, they allowed us to change our flight for an extra 500 bucks each completely not worth it an absolute disappointment! ’ the glasses every time you got a drink were dirty. I would get a glass and clean it and keep it and use it every time I went to get myself a drink. You had to look at the dishes closely. The plates were also dirty. The cutlery was also dirty. No one served you very rare. No one wouldn’t come and offer you a coffee or water or any kind Of beverage in the dining room? We couldn’t get reservations in the feature restaurants until the last day of our trip because they were all already booked. Another thing that was extremely annoying. Was you were allowed to smoke anywhere and everywhere so there was people smoking anytime you turned around! a couple of positives. The Japanese restaurant was very good. The quality of the drinks were decent, but I took pictures of just a mess. Guest had bought a flotation device for their kid opened the box. Left it under their lounge chair at the pool. We were there for seven days and even the last day it was still there they never picked it up and threw it away. There were glasses just thrown in the bushes never picked up so the quality of the team that works there. It’s not very good. The first two days we arrived. We had lots of rain. We did not have an umbrella in our room. I called five times in a matter of a couple hours waiting for them to bring us an umbrella cause every time I called they said OK they’re coming now and they never did two days of that went on and then I went to the front office and I said I need an umbrella and the guest services staff had to go and get it herself from the maintenance. Just no customer service everybody who was working in the kitchens, and the dining areas were obviously very unhappy to be there. Nobody was smiling. Nobody was friendly probably one of the worst resorts we stayed at, and we’ve stayed at many. I’m pretty easy to please decent food clean, comfortable very disappointing. Luckily the weather was hot and my daughter and I just enjoyed sitting by the pool and reading the beach was full of sand fleas which I know it’s a beach but couldn’t use the beach really and it was massive. I would’ve liked to enjoy the beach more but it wasn’t clean again that goes back to the staff, not raking the seaweed off the sand don’t go to this resort. Don’t waste your money.
Great views, beaches and amenities, mediocre dining
DayTrip50570008651 on Feb 19, 2026
The good: the resort is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained, beautiful landscaping. Beaches are clean and well maintained. Always staff cleaning throughout the day. The resort was very safe. It is gated so access to the resort and beaches are restricted. At night there was plenty of staff and security around. Lots of amenities and activities available for guests to choose from. Staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. The villas are quaint, mine had no issues except the AC did not appear to be working during my stay. Pools were beautiful and well maintained. Lounge furniture good although some of it is worn. The not so good: The beds were honestly very uncomfortable. The sheets were scratchy and appeared worn. Low water pressure which was annoying, especially with toilets and showers. The food is mediocre. It is mostly buffet style, with breakfast having the best choices and preparation. Some places had better food prep and service than others. A la carte restaurants were very difficult to get reservations to. Several restaurants just outside the resort had much better food. Very little options if you are vegetarian or GF. If you are looking for a quiet beach getaway, this is not your place. Lively entertainment throughout the day and evening, however the nightly entertainment is very loud and goes late most nights and can be heard easily from your room. Our villa was adjacent to Club Marmara which began music entertainment early in the a.m. as well. The areas around La Placita is also very loud throughout the day and night.
The world's worst outdated falling apart resort.I've ever been to in over fifty years. And all inclusive, that's the biggest jok
Dreamer29918301699 (Streetsboro, Ohio) on Feb 16, 2026
Absolutely. The worst resort I was ever at, in my fifty years and I was there for my honeymoon. Nothing but kids sneezing coffing, right in front of you. Nobody absolutely nobody spoke english. I had the beach front villa, the top of the line. It was disgusting falling apart. The bathroom ceiling fell in on my head. They didn't care. You're on an island I was told by travel connection, it was all inclusive. But far from it. The regular visitor even though they boast the southern restaurants. You can only eat at two of them. The villa was so outdated falling apart. Ceiling falling on my head in the bathroom. But nobody cared. You're on an island I was told by the travel connection in Aurora, by Becky that there was fresh fish, fresh everything, and I find out when I'm there. That nothing is fresh. It is all frozen. One hundred percent of the food is frozen, recooked and recooked. And if you think it's all inclusive, well, you're wrong, everything you have to pay cash for no credit card. No debit card cash. Even though me and my wife, the first day fell down. The steps by my villa, because the angle of the second step was like 12 o'clock to 5 o'clock. And that's a big angle, which we both fell down the first day. And I was black and blue, swollen, knee broken toes fractured ankle, but nobody cared, and nobody did anything about it. I believe when you advertise all inclusive. Like the travel connection in aurora, ohio told me which was absolutely a lie. They say 7 restaurants. But if you don't pay extra your, I can eat it two So how is that all inclusive? Everything is extra. They don't take credit cards like they say they only do. And everything is cash, and you're ripped off every step of the way. How can you not have fresh fish on an island strictly frozen grouper and dry as the desert. The villa, so best you can get. How is there three weeks for $15000 on my honeymoon? And there is nothing but garbage. The food was worse worst then dirt Told by people that worked there. Everything is frozen and recooked terrible. The best possible villa you can pay for was falling apart. Ceilings falling in on my head stepped up to the beach which I was told Bye the travel connection in Aurora, Ohio. It was beautiful all inclusive. But 7 restaurants and you can only eat at 2 That's fraud. There are no water sports at all, only kayaks. Was told they have parasaling fishing, jet skis, water sports all over the place. And I find out that in nineteen ninety, they discontinued and outlawed jet skis and parasailing, which the travel connection in aurora told me there was numerous all over the place. And as far as all inclusive, that's a lie. It was the biggest dump i've been to in fifty some years of traveling, and 43 weeks, I paid fifteen thousand dollars. What a ripoff. 7 restaurants, they advertise all inclusive, that's hilarious. What a joke all inclusive. But if you're just the regular Joe going there for your hard-earned money vacation, you can only eat at 2 of them. That's it. And the small beach, we did not have a lounge chair to lay on the beach for Uber a week until we figured that you had to go at 6 AM. And put a towel on a chair to have one disgusting. And the food the world's worst embarrassing. If you choose this place to spend your heart, earn money and enjoy yourself like I planned on for my honeymoon. Well, let's just say that's impossible never will happen. Especially when they tell you it's all inclusive, which it absolutely is not. The drinks totally water down terrible. Everything was dirty and disgusting, and they did never. I bet you in 10 years. Maybe more have updated this garbage resort. So if you choose this resort, take my warning, you are making a mistake, and it is far from romantic place being there's nothing there can't even get on the beach during the day. Sorry to repeat. But the worst $15000 I ever spent in my life, especially with the physical injuries, to my legs, falling on steps ceiling falling on my head. And the way it's kept up with the ceiling on the porch, falling in, that's embarrassing. And I swear to you on my life. Nothing I said is a lie.
The worst hotel ever
Elisa_bsili (Paris, France) on Feb 12, 2026
I'm shocked at the sight of positive reviews. I'm guessing some of the guests here get along with one manager of the entertainment team or sport team and rate the hotel forgetting what a hotel is supposed to be. We went to spend our honeymoon & spent 8 days. I'll say it openly: The worst hotel I've ever been to. Avoid it at all costs. The view & nature are great- true, but that's the location and the charm of the island ! Not the service, not the quality. every bare minimum you'd expect from a hotel is non existent. A stay at this hotel could really be dangerous !!! I got food poisoning and spent days suffering , & almost every one with whom we arrived on the plane and who was at this specific hotel had the same experience or knew someone who had food poisoning too. We'd hear our neighbors vomiting sound from our bungalow (it seemed like they were dying, it was scary) , day and night. Different people every day 1/The most basic hygiene rules are nonexistent. The chicken is barely well cooked, the eggs were blue, the food is there uncovered all day in the heat. The sweets such as cakes, tasted like they've been hidden for a year. Fruits and vegetables washed with their non-potable water. No fresh fish on an island !!! No fresh meat. We ended up surviving on plain rice , and fries or pizza (they arrive frozen too, and they heat them there) Mind-blowing. Not only at the buffet, beware. The réservation-restaurants are as disappointing as the buffet . The restaurants are all terrible & they had no fresh juices. I couldn't understand how on an island, and all inclusive, and the only soft drinks available were purely sugar, colorant, & ice. Even the fruits at the buffet had no taste . How is it possible to be in the Caribbean and have awful mango , tasteless ananas ? 2/The staff were extremely non-chalant. To be completely honest, some of them were even agressive and impolite whenever you asked them anything. None spoke English. I was lucky to have a partner who spoke Spanish, and still, they'd be rude if you ask them anything (despite us smiling, saying hi and thank you..). 3/ the rooms were in a terrible state. The cover on the toilet half broken, the beds clearly broken (you literally drop inside the mattress and the bed moves and makes noises that makes you terrified it would break at any moment during sleep). The ceiling was dripping water & cerise sur le gâteau : we had cockroaches in the room. + No hot water on the first two days When we asked to be changed rooms, they said we needed to pass by the agency and wait. It took us 2 days in those conditions to be switched rooms only to find other cockroaches and broken beds again in the other room. 4/ the music was awful, the worst of the worst of the mainstream music (a Spotify playlist would have been a better choice) and they'd switch songs every 10 seconds, you can't even dance to a song. bad quality of sound. And the exact same playlist over and over during the day and at night throughout the whole week. 0 skilled DJ, 0 creativity. No atmosphere that would make anyone between 16-48 want to dance Also, I understand there's no potable water in Dominican republic. But how do they expect people to stay healthy and hydrated when the only water available for free is a filtered water that lacks any minerals and essentials for the body to be hydrated ? And you need to pay 10$ at their pharmacy to get a 50cl hydrating bottle. Outside the hotel, no shop had mineral water except sparkling one that tasted horrible. To sum up, you will definitely enjoy the beach at the expense of your health and well-being.
