A Good Time Overall, With Some Honest Tips for Future Guests

Matthew S on May 17, 2026

This review is based on our experience in May 2026 at Bahia Principe Luxury Aquamarine. Overall, we had a nice time. There are definitely better all-inclusive resorts out there, and there are certainly worse ones too. For the price, this one was pretty solid. The food was about what we expected. The restaurants were noticeably better than the buffet. Of the restaurants we tried, Nomad (the Mongolian restaurant) was our favorite. The pool area was good, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Having burgers and hot dogs available by the pool was convenient, even if the food itself wasn’t amazing. They also offered a different international food option daily, which was a nice touch. One thing we really liked was having access to all of the Bahia resorts. It gave us more options for exploring, dining, and entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, it was actually better than we expected. The rooms are a bit dated and could definitely use some updating. Also, the shower water in our room seemed to fluctuate between scalding hot and cold, and finding a comfortable temperature took some patience. One thing we wish we had known ahead of time was that there are no actual blankets or comforters on the beds — just two sheets. The AC can make the room pretty cold at night, so if you like having a blanket, request one as soon as you arrive. They will bring one, but it’s better to ask early rather than waiting until bedtime. There were also a few other things I wish we had known beforehand: • Many, if not most, people we met experienced some level of “Montezuma’s Revenge,” even when trying to be careful. Bring your own toilet paper — you’ll probably be glad you did. • The resort train system between properties is easy once you understand it, but it was never really explained clearly to us when we arrived. • The app is not very good, especially for directions around the resort. • Even when the resort doesn’t appear full, restaurant reservations are still needed. Sometimes you can book them right before walking in, but don’t assume you can just show up. • If you want insulated tumblers for the pool, the cheapest ones we found were in the little shopping village near the casino. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and felt like we got decent value for what we paid.

Amazing Hotel, amazing staff and amazing food.

conksandben (Rutland, United Kingdom) on May 16, 2026

We had the most amazing experience at the Aquamarine. It was our first experience a Bahia Principe and loved every minute. The staff were so happy and kind and could not do enough for you - nothing was too much trouble. The only place we had an issue was in the Indian Thalia - the food was plain awful - we sat there for an hour with only water and then when they eventually took our order it came out cold and rock hard chicken! The staff in there were quite rude at times with not very helpful and would not return to that restaurant on our next visit! They were not even bothered that we walked out after recieving our main due to the quality of it being not good. Some of the staff went above and beyond like Issac and the staff in the buffet were always brilliant and helpful too. The accomidation was fine could do with a lick of pint but that didn't phase us as we spent little time in our rooms and they were really clean with a daily clean and change of towels. The majority of à la carte were fantastic food. The only bit of feedback was the entertainment programme could do with a two week rotation instead of one as if you come for a fortnight you same the exact same thing twice. Overall experience was brilliant we have already booked on our return for next year with family. Thankyou to all staff for making our stay fabulous and I would definately recommend the aquamarine - for what you pay it's amazing!!

Couples stay 2 weeks

joannewalsh69 (Billinge, United Kingdom) on May 15, 2026

Currently still on holiday, weather is sunny and really hot. Plenty of sunbeds to lie on all day round the pools . We mainly go by the quiet pool as it does get rather noisy when the entertainment team arrive. Room is nice we stayed in the more recently refurbished. Nice and spacious. Seperate shower and toilet in bathroom . Mattress a little too hard for our liking . Food is generally ok and there is lots to choose from . Although can be a little bit cold , there is a microwave to warm things up though. There are also lots of different restaurants you can book into and as many times as you like . We have eaten in the meat and the Greek and a la carte so far . All nice and less busy than the main restaurants but they do get booked up quite quickly. This is not a quiet hotel. The corridors can be quite noisy at night with slamming doors . This is not the fault of the hotel but the people who think its acceptable to shout in corridors at 3am in the morning . Given this is adults only I do struggle to understand the thought process of why an adult would do that . I appreciate its their vacation to but a little respect for other holiday makers wouldn't go a miss . We did venture over to the village , there are some shops for souvenirs but they are quite pricey . The shops in the hotel are also pricey but handy if you forget something as an emergency purchase. Pools are warm and refreshing . 20 mins from the airport . You can also use Ambar for some of the restraunts. This is a very big complex . There are regular buggys to take you where you need to go but if you enjoy a nice leisurely walk then it is only 10 mins walk to the beach . If you struggle with mobility issues I would advise to use a buggy . Staff, some members are quite polite and nice and some dont want to talk. Also some staff members can be quite nosiy when arriving for work in the early mornings , I can only presume they are exited to be in work and really love their job ? Beware of the mosquito bights bring your repellent and also make sure you bring high factor sun cream . All in all the holiday is OK. But we probably wouldn't come back to the aquamarine. We would however probably try the Ambar instead , seems more modern and seems less lively.

Huge Resort, Very Nice Although Not 5-Stars

Kurt S on May 14, 2026

My wife and I stayed 11 nights in May of 2026. This is a very nice 4 star resort. It's not a 5 star as its claimed to be. Property is very clean but showing some wear. Room also dated, yet it had all we needed. Our king pool view room was good size with seating area, and we liked having two sinks and shower stall in the bathroom. But rooms are due for a re-do. Liked that our arm band was the room key, so we did not have to carry a room key card. Room doors seem to swell due to humidity I suppose so had to slam door hard making a lot of noise to close. Beach was nice. They did a great job cleaning up the sea grass every morning. But there was not enough space on beach or umbrellas, so finding spots in the shade was difficult. Also, chairs were very close together, so when someone was smoking for example, you knew it. To get a good spot at the beach you needed to reserve with your towels by 6AM. Signs said reserving chars was not allowed but everyone did it, so you had to to get a chair. Pool was not as crowded as beach but still needed to reserve early if you want any shade. This was a huge resort with many other sections. Information was not clear what you could and could not use at other resort areas. Pools and beach areas were off limits at other Bahia resorts, but most restaurants could be booked. But wish they would provide written instructions for what is and is not available at the other resorts. Golf cart transportation was excellent, and drivers would go out of their way to help you, but I think we prefer a smaller resort where everything is walkable distance. Got old waiting for carts. In summary, I think we personally prefer smaller and more intimate resorts, plus we like seeing new places so it's not likely we'd go back here again.

Rude staff

Dreamer643878 on May 14, 2026

Beach is stunning only thing I loved about our holiday. Room: dated, bed hard yellow stains, bearable with a topper. Sockets loose in wall, toilet leaked, ironing board broken. It needs refurbishing. Room kept clean, cleaner was lovely Spa was beautiful massage was fantastic I don’t class coffee from a vending machine 5 star. I know you can go to another hotel to get coffee. Aquamarine hotel staff some were friendly but felt very unwelcome at our hotel all because one waiter took a dislike to my husband. I felt very uncomfortable, being pointed at as you walk by is intimidation and I do not expect that when I go away on holiday. Cups around the pool are not clean bring your own. We tipped all the time, some of the staff just don’t want to be at work! We have never experienced this any where else in the world. Buffet food was okay very average for a 5 star hotel. Staff always friendly in there. Lots of choice of restaurants the only one we liked was Nomad and that was because your food comes out hot.
