The Barcelo Maya Tropical is a great resort and you have access to visit the other properties. They have many activities and a mall where you can enjoy shopping. A large number of clean pools on this property so you never feel crowded. The ease of getting to the beach. This property has the best access to the beach. Even though its a little rocky getting in once you get pass that you can enjoy a seaweed free beach space. The rooms are a bit moist and mosquitoes are a problem, so ask that your room be cleaned and sprayed daily.

Poor customer service. Some people even show aggressive behavior at check in counter and cook and server were sweaty, dripping sweat over your food.

UK Family review : TROPICAL Family of 2 adults , teenager and 8 YO Buffet : not good , COLD everytime , choices huge but repetitive , canteen style , rushed and dated . I simply don’t understand how the food can be served cold , like warm. Rooms : we stayed at the tropical side of the resort , whist it was clean it was dated , I can live with dated Rooms fitted with air con and no issues , fridge ( filled if they are tipped ) room cleaned in timely fashion if tipped . Some days we’d be out til 4pm and the room still hadn’t been cleaned from 8am , so we had to request with reception on several occasions - same for fridge Pools : lovely range , kept clean Beach : beautiful but beach shoes most definitely required Dolphins : very much on the fence with this in smallish pool , needs more educational information on captivity and how and why they are protecting them Water sports : we didn’t utilise Spa : we didn’t utilise Strikers : ideal if you wanted a burger & fries instead of a buffet , I found the bowling to be more expensive than UK prices - disappointing cost Mall : not to our taste , but expensive if you wanted any shop items Market : ideal for gifts , generally x2 more than what you’d find on 5th avenue Taxis : very expensive , more than UK , we took 2 taxis - one to Walmart and one to another shopping centre Security: seemed strict and strong across the resort for entry and exit A la cartes : we booked numerous of these to avoid buffet dinners and must be booked at the started , for 14 nights we were given 11 but unfortunately we couldn’t book them all , defeats the object we had 5 over Overall these were tasty - Santa Fe ( steak ) and Italian being our favourites , Japanese is noisy and just salty noodles with veg and entertainment. However it made a nice change for an evening Entertainment Pool was on one of the many pools and we didn’t engage Evening entertainment we saw twice and it was naff but bearable ( Disney & braodway ) Grounds : kept clean and tidy , they work hard during peak times and are everywhere Staff : this was my biggest frustration, everything was tipped and expected , on occasion they automatically put their hand out and 9 out of 10 are unhelpful and miserable , the service was poor from bar staff to waiters to reception We were due to leave the day of hurricane berryl , our flight was last but one out the airport , hotel staff gave us zero hurricane information, did not wish us a safe trip home on check out , the preparation for this hurricane made me personally very nervous but fortunately we got home on time 5th avenue ( town ) Lovely but could be dodgy , daunting to observe so many police and army everywhere with huge guns Trips : numerous booking agents in the hotel , trips are expensive £400 boat trip £600 day trip to zoo 2adults 2 kids Overall Mexico is a beautiful place but pricey , everything I felt was more than UK except supermarkets off site , I’m glad I’ve visited but I don’t think I’d return and not to this hotel resort

Very nice place but little to far from airport and pricey for transportation, too much walking at the property.

I was able to participate and almost win a ping pong tournament here among other fun things to do here. Lots of great stuff and food to enjoy here. I would definitely recommend planning some sort of trip here whenever one gets the chance to do so.
