Resort was beautiful. It’s a little overwhelming due to the size. Highly recommend renting a scooter if you have any mobility issues (even if you don’t). It’s just that big. Staff were friendly and helpful. Best service we’ve had. Food was average. Typical resort food. Definitely try the black ice cream cones. Beach was basically unusable due to the vast amount of sargasm (no one’s fault except Mother Nature). But the pools more than made up for it. Music playing and fun activities all day long. Entertainment was great. Only negative was the room. Even though it was clean, it was VERY damp. The floors were always slippery and it felt like we were sleeping on wet sheets every night. Hot water was hit or miss.

We had a great time. It was very relaxing and the service was excellent. The food was good but was not what we were expecting at the buffets, but the a la carte restaurants were so good. The beach would have been better if not for the massive amounts of seaweed. Our favorite part was the hydrotherapy circuit, which was the best part of our day each day! The pools are also amazing and relaxing!

The resort wasn't crowded, and the grounds and pool areas are kept absolutely pristine. That said, it wasn't quite as good as our previous visits. The beach had a significant amount of seagrass, and the mattresses in the rooms were unfortunately very uncomfortable and hard. We still love the layout of the resort, but the rooms are definitely due for an update to get back to the quality we remember.

Barceló Tropical was amazing. We loved everything about it. The food was really good. Very diverse and fresh. The specialty restaurants were really good! The evening shows were well produced and everyday was something different! The beach was also very nice although you can’t do much with sargassum but we did see the employees working hard to clean everyday. We liked it so much that we extended two days! We booked through Expedia and didn’t know there were different packages. We would have paid the premium package if we knew the drinks were better. Now I understand why several people keep coming back year after year. I’d love to go back!
