Stay somewhere else

Nothing privileged about this place!! We’re staying here under a “Privilege” reservation with low water pressure, Luke warm temperature water, and rude and insensitive workers. My son came back from an excursion vomiting so I went off to find him soup. He’s 8 and a picky eater. I went to the Japanese restaurant to ask for soup and was refused soup by the waiters and the manager. I went to guest services and “privilege” services and no one seems to care at all about helping me get soup for my sick son. They only care if I have a reservation. I’ve never stayed in a “nice” hotel with such insensitive people. I will never stay here again. There’s a lot of competing hotels in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay there!

As a young family of 3 we came here just before the Easter break and left on Easter Monday. We had 10 nights booked in the regular, ‘Non exclusive’ portion of the resort. Historically I have been quite difficult to please when looking for all inclusive resorts following a very poor trip to Turkey a few years back (see the review). Originally we had booked Dubai but thanks to the brainless orange toddler causing conflict we had to change and chose Mexico based on almost guaranteed weather. All we were hoping for on this trip was good weather, and good entertainment for our 3 year old. This hotel basically surpassed all expectations, to put it bluntly. Whilst the good weather helped, I found it really hard to fault (I’ll share my only niggle at the end.) The food was fantastic - 6+ restaurants plus the buffet. The buffet was the best restaurant option - daily the choices changed but kept in with variety from different regions. It was exceptional! The option to book the restaurants outside of the buffet were a great way to break up any monotony as well. The rooms were cleaned daily and absolutely huge with a spacious balcony. We were fully expecting to have to bed share with our 3 year old but on arrival the sofa bed had been made for him which was such a relief - not only that but the main bed was absolutely enormous, so comfortable with so many soft pillows, we slept so well! It was my birthday whilst on the trip and I was surprised by beautiful flowers and fizz in my room once we returned from a day trip out. The staff were lovely in every area of the hotel (bar the spa - personal grudge against them) The bar staff are friendly and appreciate a dollar or two of tips. The children’s & entertainment staff work really hard to bring something new both during the day in the pools and at night. During bad weather (if any) you have an indoor sports bar, bowling alley, theatre and kids club if you need something to do. There’s also an inclusive coffee shop/ patisserie for a sweet treat or iced coffee to start the day. (The chocolate cookie are to die for) The ice cream parlour that opens at 5pm is great too! There is a poolside restaurant for burgers, hotdogs , fried, ice cream etc for a lunch time snack if you don’t fancy drying off for the buffet. There’s loads of seats and bed, chairs and hammock areas so you won’t struggle to find somewhere to sit. That being said, we did notice that once the Easter break started it got a LOT busier and we noticed more and more people claiming a sunbed with a towel early doors. This wasn’t an issue before the half term started. The kids pool/slides/waterpark area is exceptional. So much choice and huge, definitely worth asking to be in block 2 or 3 if you are with young children. It’s also fantastic that all pools are manned constantly with extremely vigilant life guards. Also nearby is a play area with swings, slides & climbing frames and it’s close by to the sunbeds and swimming pool so you’re not having to move too far away for them to play. The main lobby area is a grand entrance with a huge bar and seats and at night it’s a busy area with people bustling to drink and enjoy themselves & play cards etc. The gym is great too which is rare in hotels I think - a full weight section, cardio section, machines and free weights with an outside section also. The gym gets very busy from 7am onwards. There’s also a running track for people who prefer to be outdoors and it’s signposted around the perimeter of the resort. The resort makes you feel like you’re in a village rather than trapped in a resort and all in all I’d happily come back here. There are also small shops for necessities, snacks and toys. But I recommend leaving the resort to go to the OXXO store because on site prices are eye watering. My only niggles: 1. the pools are chilly - it’d be good for the younger kids who can’t regulate their temperature as easily if they could be heated slightly to take the edge of the chill off. But I think that’s hard to find anywhere to be honest. 2. The spa. The spa staff walk around the pool to show you offers to take part in. A lady sat down uninvited and tried to explain the services but when I tried to decline she just kept offering something different that I might like instead. I was suffering with a migraine at the time and couldn’t really see so I agreed to a facial and I signed my name to make the booking. A couple of days later we were approached to book an excursion with Dive It! Mexico. (Separate review for this company pending). We had no choice in what days we wanted to book as the trips were somewhat weather dependent and dependent on numbers of attendees. We were told a day for the trip which meant I need to cancel my facial. When going to the spa I was simply told I couldn’t cancel and if I didn’t turn up I’d be charged. I explained about the trip so changed it for another day and all was fine. I then had a message from Dive It who asked me to change the day of the trip due to the number of attendees. Went back to the spa again and was met with a very rude lady telling me I had changed it 3 times now and I should consider the appointment I booked. I was made to feel like i was being told off and it wasn’t fault for the appointment change, which it wasn’t. All in all it’s a fab resort & we would gladly return!

We have been to this resort seven times in the last two years and have had the pleasure of having Guillermo take care of us in many locations at the resort, beach, ElBeso pool, Privilege pool, and Daisy. He is very friendly, pleasant, and helpful. The resort is lucky to have such a great worker. This week we have been here from March 28 -April 4. Guillermo has taken excellent care of us at the beach. Looking forward to our next visit here and seeing Guillermo.
