Pool entertainment and mini club

The pool entertainment team and mini club staff was great! This morning we had Mirelle run a great family event of musical trivia. At lunch we had Alejandra run pool floaty races for our kids. It was a blast! We look forward to tomorrow’s activities. Great job!

My honest review of this hotel. People may not like it but it’s based on my experience and only that. Positives We felt the food was actually not too bad. Each a la carte had a good selection of options. The buffet food was very good for a buffet- but very chaotic at times because people have no manners and let their kids roam free. There did seem to be a shortage of waiters, but to be fair they always seemed to be on the go. The service at the a la cartes was excellent and every waiter seemed extremely grateful for the tips we provided. We were moved a few rooms but I would say the rooms generally are very quiet so get a good sleep. Very clean and mini bar was stocked every day with no issues (although turn down service was not consistent). Spent most of our time at Daisy pool but our last day went to Eden pool and felt it to be more relaxed with better entertainment. The Eden pool was also a lot cleaner than Daisy Pool. Mikes coffee was great and staff are very friendly. Bowling - excellent to have this, with drinks available in the same location. One lane was always out of order, but if they offered bowling all day and had all lanes available this would be perfect. Reception - always seemed busy. When we checked it there wasn’t a big wait, but we didn’t get alot of information about our room (to be fair our attendee was a “trainee” - but there was a real lack of detail provided) Bell boys are excellent, arranged taxis for us and transported our luggage. Negatives: Buffet - mentioned the waiters being non stop but they really need more staff on at busy times as we missed out on drinks a few times. Also, as I mentioned families let their kids have a free for all which is ridiculous Ocean burger/ buffet/ route 66 - all of these have the same hamburger patties. Found it a bit odd there was no better options. Daisy Pool - needs a deep clean at the bottom. It’s like walking on stones and I cut my foot one day and got first aid - but there was no one addressing what I had cut my foot on. There was also a young girl in the bigger pool alone and had to be looked after by staff as her parents were no where to be seen (probably more a parental issue as alot of people seem to want to be self centred and fend their kids off to things like kids club). We did also notice a few rude people smoking at poolside - seriously in public with young kids around this is how rude people who stay here are!! Rooms. We had 5 out of 14 days without AC. The privelege room had leaking sinks, power cuts and no running water. We also noticed the shower gel was never topped up (we did bring our own). We asked if we could have our room cleaned early in the day as we are typically early eaters at meal times - but this was never adhered to despite guest services assuring us the room would be prioritised at 9:30am. Hotel Management Service. This is our biggest negative. AC not working was communicated to guest service on day 1 but took 4 days to resolve. Despite several follow ups. We had a reservation at locanda and were told that it was not on the hotel system so we would have to wait until everyone who had a reservation was seated before we could be accommodated. I escalated this to Israel, a manager as well as the AC issues and his response was “what do you want me to do about it?”. Absolutely no interest at resolving issues at all but we noticed this was a continual theme. In preparation for hurricane beryl we were asked to move room, and done so a day earlier “as it would be easier” for the hotel staff to help them pack without much notice. We packed our belongings between 3:30 and 4:30pm, and moved to our new ground floor room at 5pm. We quickly unpacked and got a shower then attended our restaurant reservation at 6pm. We attended a show and arrived back to our room at around 9:30pm. When we returned we noticed there was and old carton of milk in the fridge, there was luggage stickers on walls and there seemed to be an infestation of mosquitoes. This seemed to come from the balcony door, which was ajar. However the door would not close or lock and would not open. The door was broken. I recorded this and with the door closed as much as possible, there was a visible gap of around 5mm. I attended reception immediately and spoke to Francisco (a supervisor who had been handling this move) and showed him the door and told him we would need to move to another room as this room was infested and clearly unsafe for us to live in - particularly before an arrival of a hurricane. He then told me he was struggling to find another room in hotel then asked someone else to visit our room. An employee came to the room and said they would spray the room but couldn’t fix the door. As we felt unsafe I took my son and wife to the lobby and took our belongings with us. My son had to sleep on the couches of the lobby until after 1am when finally the hotel somehow were able to find a room for us!!! Over 3 hours of sitting in a lobby with no check outs!!! The next day we spoke to the guest services who advised that we would be in lockdown from 9pm and all food services would close from 7pm. We ordered room service at 6pm but nothing came and there was no communication on this from hotel. We also got no communication on the food packs available from buffet. The following day (Ie after hurricane) we were only informed the buffet was opened at 9am through this Facebook group - Ie not from hotel. After going to buffet, we spoke to 2 information points at hotel who told us they didn’t know what services would be available. We then spoke to Lucio hotel manager who told us we can’t expect the hotel to communicate to 2,000 people. When we explained the latest communication was to stay in the room, he told us it had stopped raining so we should know the buffet is open. Very frustrated and asked for any guidance on what/if and when things would be available and we were told we would be communicated to via the app at midday- there was absolutely nothing and still nothing to this day! We advised we understood no room service etc, but again advised there was no communication on this and we had went over 16 hours without food because the room service wasn’t delivered and there was no communication around breakfast etc. the manager was not interested and instead suggested that everyone else knew what was happening and we should be grateful for the hotels support!!! Anyways post the hurricane we called around air con not working again, again no one showed up. 5th July we visited the steakhouse as per our reservation made by concierge several days prior - to be told we didn’t have a reservation as it was a 4th July celebration for Americans. I advised I was not American and couldn’t care less for Independence Day celebrations and that the date was actually the previous day. I was informed they were cancelling everything to accommodate the US guests. Appalling! I was then told I could buy a bottle of wine if I wanted a table. I said that my family don’t drink alcohol. I’m that case I would pay for a table for each adult!!! What on earth!!! Pay for a table at an all inclusive resort who have cancelled your reservation to accommodate others! Shambolic. Would not return here
