An Unforgettable Stay at Sandos Playacar

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Sandos Playacar! From the beautiful resort, incredible food, and stunning beach to the welcoming atmosphere, everything exceeded our expectations. A huge highlight of our trip was the Royal Elite Premium Bar experience. The service there was exceptional, and Mirium truly made our stay unforgettable. She treated us like family from the moment we arrived — always warm, attentive, welcoming, and going above and beyond to make every visit special. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care added such a personal touch to our vacation and made us feel incredibly valued. It’s people like Mirium who turn a great vacation into an unforgettable one. Thank you for making our trip so special — we cannot wait to come back to Sandos Playacar again soon!

Great Wedding! but resort could use to some improving

We had our wedding at this resort April 19, 2026. I'll start with the bad and end for the good. We originally booked a room in the adults only building- BIG mistake! We were in room 1109. The patio door would not lock (this room is on the first floor so that's a problem for us). The furniture was old and tearing apart (not resort quality). There were limited outlets. We had guests that couldn't use their cpap machines because of the limited outlets. 2 of our guests in different rooms had their room flooded from busted pipes. One was fixed in a timely manner while the other was told they had to wait until the morning. The pipe busted at 3am. The hotel staff eventually let them move to a different room after the guest repeatedly asked to be moved. The building has very limited WiFi. All of our guests in that building had the same complaints. We moved to a different room in the same building on the day we arrived, and we still didn't like it. Several of our guest requested to move to another building. We ended up upgrading to their Platinum Tower, which was amazing! The room was huge with beautiful furniture! It offers 2 concierge staff that will book your dinner reservations for you as well take you around the resort in their private golf cart. Downside is that they want you to request a ride 1 hour in advance, which is pretty unreasonable. One of the concierge staff, Robby, was extremely unprofessional. He talked negatively about other resort guests to us, flirted with 2 of our wedding guest (making them feel very uncomfortable), and came to our door uninvited. He made a whatapp group with him, the other concierge Sergie, myself and my husband. He would text in the group and if we didn't respond, he would text and call us individually on WhatsApp until we answered. One of my friends said he came to her room 5 times the first day she arrived and talked about how he needs to find a wife. The resorts markets the concierge as a butler service, but it is not. We dined at this Italian restaurant and we weren't impressed by the food. They gave us the nastiest, run down paper menu I've ever seen. For our wedding, I booked their bridal suite (about $450 US) for 4 hours to get dressed, get my makeup done and relax before the wedding. I was in contact with the spa manager months before our arrival and requested by email that pork isn't served, as I do not eat it. When I entered the bridal suite, there was a beautiful charcuterie board filled with PORK! It took them 90 min to exchange it. By then, I was getting my makeup done and couldn't eat. There was also dead roach in the middle of the floor, along with long strands of hair! They Spa manager only took off 20%. I do believe it should have been way more. Our wedding package offers breakfast in bed the morning after the wedding. Once again, I requested no pork. What did I get? You guessed it, pork! Pork sausage, pork bacon and a beautiful omelet filled with ham! I reached out to our wedding coordinator who confirmed that he instructed them to not send pork. He rescheduled us for breakfast in bed the following day but it never showed up. Now for the good.....The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Lots of wildlife, including racoons, Mexican racoons, iguanas, monkeys and other critters. I love animals so this was fine for me. The resort is large and requires a lot of walking. We enjoy walking so that was also good with us. We enjoyed the main buffet and could eat there for every meal. I really liked the little Mexican restaurant they have. It reminded me of Chipotle but tasted much better! Overall, the staff was nice and helpful. You can leave the resort and walk to to nearby shops. The area feels secure. The wedding....outside of the food in the bridal suite being wrong, the actually wedding was wonderful! We had our ceremony on the beach and reception in the garden area. Food was absolutely amazing! We did do a tasting of the food days before and were very pleased. Please note, we watched another beach wedding a few days later and the resort staff forgot to turn off the music by the soccer goal, and forgot to move the soccer goal until the wedding had already started. There was also a bunch of rude guests that walked alongside the ceremony and in front of it just to watch. For our wedding, someone did spot a topless woman on the beach right in front of our ceremony but most of our guests did not see her. Would I recommend this resort? I actually would, as long as you don't stay in the Adults Only part and you don't have food restrictions. I actually talked to the manager the day before we checked out and told him all the good and the bad. He apologized and said he would take $100 off of our stay, plus he scheduled our luggage pickup from our room for the next day. The luggage people didn't come on time and was almost 45 min late! We had to miss breakfast due to that. When we checked out, the lady at the front desk said she had no knowledge taking the $100 off. She called him and he didn't answer. She eventually did it because she realized we weren't leaving until she did. Oh, and I almost forgot....we booked our own transportation to the airport. When they arrived, the resort staff put 4 people in our private transportation! Thankfully, they were my parents, brother and sister in law. The hotel staff did not listen to them when they were told that they booked a different company and that they were in the wrong van! Overall, our wedding was absolutely amazing. Many of the problems I listed can be fixed. I hope the resort management takes their reviews seriously.

Platinum Tower service is exceptional!

We stayed in the new Platinum tower this trip and it was amazing. We had 2 butlers (Sergi and Robby) and they checked on us daily to make sure we had everything we need and were excellent. The resort is clean and the food is delicious. They work diligently to clear the seaweed daily, which we greatly appreciate.
