Happens Birthday Celebration

Back from another wonderful visit to Antigua to celebrate a birthday. The food was uniformly very good with super meals at Eleanor’s, Mario’s, Tex Mex and Bayside. From top to bottom, the people really make the difference. David, Andy, Leighton and everyone else were very helpful, with a special shoutout to Dillon who helped with next year’s trip. Additionally, the entertainment seemed a cut above previous visits. Because the trip was somewhat last minute we wound up on the Mediterranean side, rather than the Caribbean side, which we prefer. That said, the room was fine, regularly made up and turned down with the minibar regularly stocked with our preferences. Plenty on beach chairs and umbrellas (can’t speak for the pool). Bar and beach service were both very good. Renovations are ongoing on the Caribbean side and might some noise, but we didn’t find it intrusive. And, make dinner reservations as quickly as possible after arriving.
Romantic, quiet and relaxing vacation.

Short trip from airport, and no seaweed on Sandals Antigua! We had 5 star dinners at Mario's, Eleanor's and Bayside, with a very fun evening at the OK Corral. (keep those margaritas coming) What makes this special is the staff - starting with the manager Dave and Leighton, and try to meet Andy. But the warm welcomes everywhere from the staff with a grateful thank you to the Cafe Paris staff. No trouble with beach chairs, always available.. We find entertainment at Sandals Antigua to be more prevalent than at other resorts, and lots of fun. We are coming back next year, so thanks to Dave in the travel and loyalty program, we are already signed up! I wish I could remember more names, but there so many helpful people.
Amazing Week

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Sandals Grande Antigua, and a huge part of what made our trip so special was the amazing butler service from Jessica, Matara, and Tiffany. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make every part of our vacation relaxing, seamless, and memorable. Their attention to detail, kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made us feel truly valued and spoiled the entire stay. Whether it was arranging dinner reservations, surprising us with thoughtful touches, or simply anticipating our needs before we even asked, they exceeded every expectation. Jessica, Matara, and Tiffany worked together flawlessly and made our vacation stress-free and unforgettable. Their warm personalities and exceptional service are exactly what luxury hospitality should be. Thank you for making our time in Antigua so amazing — we will cherish the memories and cannot wait to return!
Almost perfect, not quite. Lovely trip nonetheless

Overall, lovely hotel and a good experience during our stay there. There were some issues but we did manage to get it sorted quite quickly with management and staff (hence the 4* rating instead of 5*). As someone who is from Mauritius, worked in great hotels and travelled around the world, I think I can give a realistic and honest review for this hotel. First, special thanks to David, Nico and their staff for sorting out our issues swiftly and taking care of us. Also thanks to many of their staff who have been lovely and very helpful (Chrystel, Sherin & Natalya at Red Lane Spa who made our spa experience very special; the lovely restaurant manager at Bayside restaurant (forgot her name) who was always super friendly and smiling. Also thanks for the reception staff, the very sweet cleaning lady, restaurants staff etc. Better customer service and friendliness than other Sandals resorts we stayed in. Keep it up!) Room: As a Sandals Club member, we stayed in the Mediterranean Club Level Suite VS; very good size room, comfortable bed and lovely view as per picture. we also had a jacuzzi in the room, which is great. The room felt a little bit "dated" but nothing major to complain about, still lovely. Management did say that they will be renovating very soon. We saw some other rooms and they have some good ones. Obviously depends on price you are paying Food: I have to say, probably one of the best part about Sandals (alongside fabulous beaches etc. We're foodies! Our favourite, Soy Sushi (best sushi we've ever had). Other restaurant were also great. many different choices to choose from. (a bit disappointed about Kimonos, I expected better, still good though) Some needs reservation but never had any problem with those. Book on the app as soon as you get to the resort, that's the easiest. Beach / Pool. We mostly spent our time at the beach. Lovely sandy beach. very relaxing. As this is public beach, you will have vendors but that's to be expected. They were not an issue though. The ones with stalls are nice and friendly. They didn't really bother us. What's annoying though, is this terrible habit about people putting their towels on sun loungers early in the morning (like 6-7am) and reserving their spots. I honestly didn't expect that from this type of resorts. Hotel need to do something about that... same for the pool. The pool is also nice but since we wanted to relax and a bit of peace and quiet, that was not our prime choice. If you want entertainment, drinks / cocktails, music, etc. that's a good place. Customer service: highlighted above. Overall, great! some bad "apples" here and there, but very minimal. most staff are very nice. We had a better experience than the resort in St Lucia. Sports / Gym / Spa: gladly surprised about the Gym, very spaceful and great facility, next to the spa. great equipment and lovely manager. We went to the gym every day. it gets busy in the morning but still, plenty of space and not having to wait for machines (except treadmill couple of times, but I decided to run outdoors in the morning). Tennis courts is ok... bloody hate the turf they've put though. (do not play when wet!!), it's one of those superficial turf and honestly, not great. Love the hot and cold plunge pools though, that was good especially after a good workout. great for muscles recovery and cooling down. As for the Spa, fantastic experience and the staff are SOOOO lovely! one problem though, prices at the spa are pretty expensive I have to say. Issues: I'm not going into details here, as they were handled perfectly well by management and staff, who were proactive in sorting them out. They also didn't shy away from talking to us about it and always ensured we were being taken care of. Based on the latter and the overall experience, we will go back to Sandals Grande Antigua one day. Antigua is a lovely place too. (best to rent a car (Recommend SUV!!!some roads are not great) and discover the island. It's also very safe and we didn't have issues. As for experiences etc... offered by Sandals (Tours, etc.), we didn't book as we thought it was too expensive. we did rent our own car and booked some experiences (Stingray, Catamaran, etc.) with someone on the beach. Speak to Isaac on the beach, great guy and always very helpful. He's got access to pretty much all experiences on the island.
