Much better options for the price

BumMagnet (Ship Bottom, New Jersey) on Nov 24, 2023

We needed a place to stay for two nights before checking in at our timeshare, so we stayed here… and could not wait to leave. The rooms are dirty, outdated, and very spread out across the property, and the beach is the worst I have seen on Aruba in the 30 years I’ve been visiting. There is also no elevator, so be prepared to drag your luggage up (and down) one to two flights of stairs depending on your room location. I’ll include a photo of the filth on the glass shower wall and two of the best part of the beach on the property. It got much worse as you walked further down!

Divi Dutch Village A+!!! Plus small trip review

jasejase (Naugatuck, Connecticut) on Sep 26, 2023

This will serve as some quick highlights from our recent trip. Inclusive of some info on the Dutch / divi AI, and Tam. As all three of these resorts are intermingled. This was trip number 18 for us. We usually stay at the divi ai but this was the second year in a row that we did the divi Dutch with the ai add on, as we're now bringing kids. The Divi Dutch was great. From memory, this facility looks to be in as good of shape as it has been over the last two decades. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day, and we had zero issues. The front desk staff and concierge were both super pleasant. The lobby closes at 6 pm or so, so you'll have to make the 90 second walk to the Tam lobby should you need anything in the off hours. Pools (3)and grounds were properly maintained. The proximity to the resources at the Tam and Divi is great. Especially if you're Ai. you can find a spot on the beach within 1-2 minutes of most rooms at the Dutch. The Dutch is located directly behind the tam. The tam is just a few feet from the beach, so the Dutch is also very close to the beach. Many rooms at the Dutch also have ocean views, although they are mostly partial. From our room, it took about 2-3 minutes to make it to the lobby or buffet area at the Tam. Albeit that is walking pretty briskly. Shuttle service is good. if there’s no shuttle at the lobby, just ask the front desk clerk, and they will radio for one. Of all the years we’ve been, this was probably the best shuttle service we’ve had overall. Although finding a shuttle during afternoon hours can be limited, so you almost always have to ask for one. we really only used the shuttle to get to the casino or the Divi All Inclusive. To help restore the beach, they have installed large sandbags in areas of the beach at the tam, and it seems to be working. The beach is better than it was last year. The beach at the Divi, however, continues to be our favorite, and we posted up there almost daily. Overall the beach at both was the best that we have seen in a handful of years, which is good news!! They continue to make improvements and upgrades through all of the aforementioned resorts. Ai wise, the red parrot was our favorite on resort (as usual), with paparazzi and pure lime not too far behind. Drinks poured smoothly at all the bars with no service issues to report! Many of the same old faces were in place which is always nice to see! The buffets at each were solid with the divi buffet being our favorite by a nose. This was due to the divi buffet being less crowded than the tam. It appears that most people that do the all inclusive add-on at the timeshares, end up at the Tam. Nightly entertainment was solid. Some things aren't for us, but there was usually something to break up the night! Weather was excellent. Decent breeze. Hot. Not a drop of rain. Barely a cloud! We rented a utv at Real Deal Adventure per recommendation from our concierge, and it was awesome. We explored the northern coast at our own pace, which we haven't done in years, and even went to the top of the of the lighthouse (which was a first). Nature wise, there's still an abundance of iguanas on the island, despite the boas. We did see a dead boa on the northern side of the island. We also saw one of those monster centipedes on the resort side, which is pretty nasty! We ate off resort twice. Madame Jeanettes was awesome as usual with zero complaints. We also tried El Gaucho for the first time and enjoyed it. The steak and ribs were amazing. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sides and lobster tail were so-so. Nightly, we'd end up at the Alhambra plaza (next to the divi ai) at some point. The casino was nice as usual, and still remains our favorite on the island. No crazy winnings to report, but we broke even, which I will take us a win! The shops and restaurants at the plaza seem to be doing very well. I was skeptical when they built this mini mall, but it really serves as a nice buffer for all those staying in this area. we explored downtown one day, and there’s really nothing new to report there! Overall on the island, there is a lot of construction going on. I understand why, but at the same time it’s a bit sad to see. Hopefully this levels out soon. I heard a lot of people complaining about it. Airport arrivals were a breeze. Departure on Saturday (300 pm flight) was slightly different. We got there 3 hours early and it took us a solid 90 minutes to get to the gate. Leaving us just enough time to grab lunch and get settled. Still not a nightmare by any means. Some people have rough experiences at departure so give yourself 3 hours. Thanks!
