A Small Piece of Paradise!
TheHappyChappie (Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom) on Sep 16, 2023
Where do I start? Everything about this hotel just went so well! Since my partner developed mobility issues during the pandemic, I sent a random email enquiry to see if there were (a) steps to the pool (rather than a ladder), and (b) ground floor rooms. That evening, we decided to book it anyway (through BA Holidays) as the hotel looked gorgeous. The hotel magically connected my random email enquiry with the booking and reserved us a ground floor room - if only all customer service worked liked this! When we arrived at the hotel, we were offered a free glass of rum punch (and they didn't hold back on the rum!) and we were shown to our ground floor room, which was as lovely as we had imagined. As promised the room had a small kitchen area - fridge, freezer, hob, microwave and all the necessary glassware, crockery and cutlery that you would need. The room overlooked the pools (as I believe they all do) and had a decent sized private terrace outside - perfect for sitting out and watching the world go by. The hotel is also on the beach with quite a large number of loungers available to hotel guests. As for food and drink - there is a swim-up bar available which can also be accessed for non-swimmers on the other side! It serves a large variety of cocktails, rum punch, beer, wine and soft drinks. Every day there is a happy hour when certain drinks are discounted. The main restaurant located just beside the pool area serves delicious local food as well as several international options (e.g. pizza and burgers). I had the Blackend Catch-Of-The-Day, which was cooked to perfection and very tasty. If you're staying there on a Monday evening, there is a free cocktail hour. When we were there, there was also a local artist selling some beautiful, handcrafted goods that we just had to buy! Although we didn't go, the hotel is also within sensible walking distance of the famous Oistins Fish Fry and only a fairly short taxi ride from the airport. (Speaking of which, the hotel can arrange a "meet and greet" service from the airport to the hotel.) All in all, this hotel is absolutely lovely, the staff are wonderful and very helpful and I would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay if you are visiting Barbados!
Great experience; would stay there again

We booked the 2br suite and a regular room. Air conditioning was in both bedrooms and was great. There was air conditioning in the living room area which is unusual in the area. The shower was strong and great - again, unusual for the area. The hotel's reception area was open and breezy. The staff was very friendly. There was always a taxi available for guests. There is free parking across the street. With regards to Calabash (the onsite restaurant), I had breakfast and lunch there. There is a dress code (can't walk in with just a bathing suit) so please note that. Also, breakfast is available daily until 1030a, except for weekends when its 10am. If you're staying there for awhile try to keep that in mind. The beach sand is like powder. Overall, it was a great stay. Better than some other "4-5 star" hotels that I've stayed at in Barbados.
Amazing Experience All Around - Location, Accommodations, Staff

I visited the Bougainvillea Hotel with family for about two weeks in the beginning of May. This was a relatively last minute trip that we ended up extending because it was so beautiful. Some family members had been here before, but I had never been. I was pleasantly surprised by the stunning lobby of the hotel. It’s open to the back of the hotel which is situated on the beach. Beautiful breezes, bright sunshine, and plenty of gorgeous flowers and plants. The room itself is lovely, clean and welcoming. I got lucky with a room right at the end on the ground level. I was able to walk right out to the pool, restaurant, and beach. The hotel also has entertainment most nights which is a nice touch. All the guests are friendly and enjoy each others company while local singers perform. The ambiance is truly special. The staff here is quite pleasurable to deal with. From the front desk and housekeeping, down to the restaurant and bar. Everyone was extremely accommodating and hospitable. Michael from water sports was especially helpful and pleasant. Always friendly and had great idea local attractions to visit. He even passed out cold towels during to the day to deal with the heat! I’d definitely recommend staying here, whether traveling with friends or family. I will definitely be back.
Brilliant Hotel, Fabulous Location & Outstanding Management Team.

My Wife and I visited Barbados earlier this year, at the end of February, where we stayed at the Bougainvillea Hotel in Christ Church, not far from St Lawrence Gap. Our stay was for fourteen days. Out with the fact, that the Bougainvillea Hotel, and it’s beachfront location, is nothing less than absolutely stunning; probably the best way to sum up our stay at the Bougainvillea Hotel, is to say that, without exception, every day we would spend time wholeheartedly laughing with one, or many of, the excellent individuals from the hotel team, who looked after us throughout our stay. First impressions in life, are everything, and the first impression of the Bougainvillea Hotel, set the tone for our entire holiday. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed when leaving the UK and on landing in Barbados, we found one of our suitcases had been damaged. We therefore had to attend the Baggage Customer Service area in the airport to report, and record, the issue. To cut a long story interesting, it took quite some time to report and record the damaged suitcase, and although the brilliant TUI rep stayed, and guided us throughout, it was very late by the time we left the airport and set off to the Bougainvillea Hotel. Having missed the much anticipated sunset, we arrived at the Bougainvillea Hotel tired, completely fed up and somewhat disheartened by the poor start to our holiday. However, that feeling of being thoroughly fed up, lasted all of two minutes when we encountered Miranda and Zawadi, who were manning Reception that evening, and in absolutely no time whatsoever, they both had us laughing and chatting, while extending the warmest of welcomes, to both the Hotel, and to Barbados. It was immediately abundantly clear why this Hotel and its staffing team, had been so highly recommend to us. That recommendation came from one of my Wife’s colleagues at work, who had been staying at, and had returned to the Bougainvillea Hotel year after year, for over a decade. Having checked in and been shown to our room, it was clear why one would repeatedly return to this Hotel. Having booked the Hotel and travel package with TUI, we had contacted the Hotel directly to upgrade our room, and now found ourselves in a fantastic accommodation with a huge Kitchen, Dining and Living Room area, offset by a large Bathroom and an even bigger Bedroom. Both the Living Room and Bedroom had access to a large Balcony, which looked straight down the middle of the Hotel, and onto the beach and sea, which was less than three hundred yards away. From the minute we set foot in the Bougainvillea Hotel, we felt welcome and at home, and that feeling, maintained throughout the two weeks we were there. As with everything worthwhile in life, nothing comes easy, and the fact that we felt so at home and happy at the Bougainvillea Hotel, was down to two simple things. Firstly, the Hotel location is nothing less than stunning, where the Hotel is set back slightly from the most beautiful beach and sea. Additionally, as the Hotel is not one of the massive, commercial “big boy” brands, it affords more space and relaxation for all its guests on the beach. You just need to take one look at the Sandals hotel next door, to understand just how lucky you are to be staying somewhere more personal, more relaxed and much nicer and accommodating, in our opinion. The second, and most important thing that really separates, and elevates the Bougainvillea Hotel, is its people and the Management Team. From Reception, Front of House, Concierge, Bar, Restaurant, Sports Club, Housekeeping, Maintenance and the Management Team, almost, without exception, every single person we engaged with, was nothing less than brilliant, highly professional, massively customer centric and normally, brilliantly funny. We subsequently found out during our stay, that a large proportion of staff at the Bougainvillea Hotel had been with the hotel long term, with individuals being there for 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 25 years’. I think that fact alone, speaks volumes for the hotel and the “commitment” ethos they strongly attest too. Don’t get me wrong, as with anywhere you will go in the world, there will always be one individual who thinks the world owes them a living. And equally, in running a 24/7 hotel operation, there will aways be challenges and issues that come up. That’s only natural. At the Bougainvillea Hotel, over the space of two weeks we encountered the sum total of one individual whose attitude wasn’t the best and who clearly thought the world owed them a living. This was quickly reported to, and sorted out by the Hotel’s excellent Management Team. Additionally, we experienced one issue with our accommodation, which again the Management Team sorted quickly, and without fuss or issue. A large part of the customer first, customer centric ethos at the Bougainvillea Hotel, is demonstrated every Monday evening, where the Team host a “Get to know the Management” event, and where in turn, they can get to meet the newly arrived guest, plus catch up and chat with guests already there. This is a well hosted and great event, as it really does promote a genuine sense of connection between the entire Hotel Team and their guests. We got to know so many of the team, at so many levels, and this too greatly enhanced our stay, as on a daily basis, we would frequently say Hi to, and chat with those we had met previously. Another reason why the Bougainvillea Hotel is so great, is it’s location, not just for the beach and the sea, but for is easy access to transport all around Barbados. The Bougainvillea Hotel is about a five minute walk off of one of the main roads, so is therefore secluded enough to lose any road traffic noise, but handy enough so you can walk up to the local bus stops and then travel anywhere in the island. If you wish, you can Taxi anywhere you want, and the hotel will arrange these for you. Or you can walk five minutes up to the bus stops and then travel the entire island for less than £3 on the Government Buses or the small, great fun, vans. It would be fair to say, we absolutely loved our time and holiday in Barbados, and that was down to three things; the beautiful island itself, it’s incredibly warm, funny and hospitable people, and all of the team at the Bougainvillea Hotel, who work so hard to ensure you have the best holiday and stay with them, while making you feel at home and genuinely valued. I would wholeheartedly, one hundred percent, recommend the Bougainvillea Hotel. Such was our stay; we have already booked to go back in March 2024. LA

Lovely hotel lots of space in the room, facilities were all clean, warm and friendly environment, especially as there was so many returnees. Customer service needs work with the gift shop staff, rude and unhelpful and always on the phone.
