Top notch accommodations
tmboc (Pasadena, California) on Feb 01, 2023
Top notch stay! We stayed in a sea view villa with two bedrooms, kitchen and living area. Huge outdoor patio to watch the sunrise. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Largest pool on the island with swim up bar. Separate pool where kids seemed to enjoy the rock slide. On the pricier side but worth it.
Amazing Resort

This resort is absolutely beautiful. The grounds and vegetation are amazing and well maintained. Need to watch for little pieces of cement in the sand while walking around the resort paths but other than that it's fabulous. The pool and slide structure are really fun and the hot tub is actually hot! A nice surprise since it seems most sun destinations we've been to don't heat their hot tub. The food was really good too. There was an all you can eat Lobster Buffet one day which those that ate lobster said was well worth it. It was really windy when we were there so wasn't possible to take the kayaks out but on calmer days it's possible to do that. There's a ping pong table and bean bag toss game. Many people took advantage of that. All of the staff were really nice and accommodating. The hotel offers free filtered water in the rooms. This was a really nice bonus for us since we drink a lot of water. Anything we called the front desk for was brought quickly. The wifi at this resort is terrible which would only pose a problem if you were expecting to get work done on your stay. We seemed to have the best luck if we were standing by the lobby. We wouldn't have needed wifi at all on this trip but we were travelling in a group and kept in contact by text so needed the wifi for that. We did call the front desk to have this fixed and they did fix it and it worked for a few minutes and then not again so we didn't bother calling again. We did a private snorkelling tour at Mexico Rocks. We asked a restaurant owner on the way to town and he arranged it for us. They use Lucky Devil tours and they were fabulous and much cheaper than the resort. I understand resorts have to make a commission but it's a bit much. We even got a private boat and for less than the resort tour with other random people on it. We did the Hot Chan and Shark Ray Alley tour with another company and that was great. I recommend all 3 spots to snorkel. It was incredible and much better than what you will see in Placencia in our experience. It was nice to have a kitchen at this resort. We would buy eggs and bread and some other things from the supermarket to have breakfast and snacks in the room. We rented a golf cart through the hotel. Although it's more expensive here than in town it was handy to have. Some golf cart companies will pick you up at the ferry and airport for free so that's an idea if you are considering a golf cart. You'll need one if you want to venture anywhere. There's one restaurant within walking distance (tipsy lobster) but that's about all. I have one note for management in that it was time consuming to get questions asked via email before our trip. I would send an email with more than 1 question in it and the response back would only answer 1 of my questions. They only respond once per day so it would take me a full week to get all 5 of my questions answered. I did ask for a WhatsApp number for quicker response time but I also asked another question in that email so they answered that one and not the WhatsApp question. I see another reviewer could contact the hotel by WhatsApp so that would have been nice and maybe quicker responses? I noticed there is always someone at the front desk so not sure why they only respond to questions once per day and one at a time! Other than that, this resort is incredible and I would highly recommend it. Felt like paradise!
