Great service, clean and quiet

Brenda G (Bay City, Wisconsin) on Feb 04, 2025

The staff were so attentive, friendly and helpful. They made you feel like family. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were great. 1 brought us a couple towels after we got rained on (sorry I can’t remember his name). Jose at the concierge desk made you feel like you’ve been friends forever and made sure everything was to your liking. Really all the staff were amazing. Grounds are clean, there are kayaks and bikes to use. Have nothing bad to say. They are on the very north end of the island, which makes it so nice and quiet. Will definitely try and go back!

Friendly staff. Great service. Beautiful grounds. Great snorkeling. Specifically Jose A and his twin Jose B made every day fun and more enjoyable. Ken was fantastic he made a sunset cruise happen for us. Captain Mario and Armando took us snorkeling near barrier reef. Served great rum punch Will go back again.

Beautiful but quite a journey to get to. Prepare accordingly.

Alyse W on Jan 16, 2025

Beautiful resort, but quite a trek to get to. Friends and I were staying at one of Caribe resorts it was over an hour very bumpy golf cart ride from our resort to Margaritaville. Roads are very unfinished and COMPLETELY littered with trash along the coast, and on the road which was very disappointing to see. Again the resort was beautiful, drinks were delicious and food was good, but plan accordingly for a very bumpy ride if you have an easily susceptible to injury back or motion sickness. Gift shop was very small and had very limited items with Margaritaville or jimmy Buffett specific things actually written on them. No shot glasses, only landshark beer shot glasses. A little bit of a let down for parrot heads wanting merchandise from the real deal.

Beautiful Grounds, Spacious Villas, Lovely Waterfront

Marcella R (Edmonton, Canada) on Jan 04, 2025

This is an elevated and secluded resort for families or groups. As a family of 4 adults we rented a two bedroom, two bathroom villa with a kitchen, big dining table and comfortable living room. We decorated the shelving unit which held a large screen TV with Christmas decorations we brought from home. With the fire scene on the TV and stockings hung on either side along with lights, etc. we had a bit of home on a tropical Christmas. We did some cooking, ordered room service and enjoyed the restaurant. Christmas Eve we had an old fashioned Belizean meal with turkey, rice and beans, salad with local greens and a wonderful black fruitcake soaked in rum. There are lots of activities available including pickleball, kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles. You can rent a golf cart to explore the rainforest trails, take a sunset cruise to snorkel or paddle out on a kayak and snorkel on the nearby reef. The reef is thriving unlike many other barrier reefs. There are also two beautiful pools. There are 3 bars to enjoy including a swim up bar and one on the beach. All make great cocktails and drinks and play a mix of music. We danced to a DJ on Christmas Eve and witnessed a hermit crab race. Although the resort was booked to capacity it never felt crowded as many families spent time enjoying the beautiful villas. The privacy was very welcome to 4 big, city dwellers. The resort occupies an untouched stretch of beach and jungle, with no neighbors and is reached by a 25 minute speedboat boat or a taxi ride. We also spent time enjoying the facilities and met very nice guests. The Belizeans are friendly, warm hearted hosts. We will definitely return to Margaritaville for a family vacation.

Absolutely Amazing! - Just set your expectations

RSKS001 (Overland Park, Kansas) on Jan 03, 2025

The resort is AMAZING! If you are looking for a sort of "private island" feel, this. is. the. place. However, you need to be aware that being "private" and "remote" works both ways (good and bad). The resort is either 30 minutes from town by boat, or 1.5 hours by golf cart / car. The boat only make one trip to town in the morning, and one return trip in the afternoon. So, if you want flexibility and are willing to have extra time, then the gold cart is the way to go..... So, for the review itself: 1) Premises: The grounds are PRISTINE. Immaculate. The waters are absolutely crystal clear - like in a movie. There are two pools and a single swim up bar. However, none of these things was very busy. Because it is **not** an all-inclusive, you don't have to suffer the stereotypical crowds of people acting like it is their first experience with alcohol. The only downside is the mosquitos. Unfortunately, sometimes, nature is a mother. And the mosquitos attack with a sort of fervor rarely seen outside a George Romero movie. By the time we left, I looked like a Braille textbook. That being said, I would still go back in a heartbeat....... 2) Rooms: Our room was amazing! Hearing the ocean, and seeing the ocean from our room was an experience that will live with us forever. The room cleaning was done daily, and the staff made sure the room was absolutely sterile - that's how clean it was. They were beyond amazing. And, it is worth noting that the room was more akin to a small apartment (complete with FULL kitchen) than a typical hotel room. This is important because if you don't want to eat at the on-site restaurant, then you can make a shopping list, and the hotel staff will go into town and get it for you - at zero extra charge. They even provide you the receipts to verify they are not skimming or taking advantage of you. So, the rooms were clean, spacious, and amazing. 3) Dining: There is only one restaurant on site - "Riddles in the Sand". Don't be fooled by its looks: it is truly GOURMET. Example: We went snorkeling, and we ran into one of the hotel staff (Danny G - who is the coolest man alive) who just happened to be hunting for fish / conch to supply the restaurant for that night's dinner. Talk about fresh seafood!!!!!! Again, because this is **not** an all-inclusive, the standards are much higher. The presentation of the food could rival any Michelin starred restaurant. And, as for the taste, it was just as good as it looks. In fact, some of the items (like the Pibil tacos) were better than the authentic places we ate at in the town. And, for those with kids (like our family), they had great family-friendly items on the menu as well. There were pasta options (Chicken alfredo), tacos, chicken strips, hamburgers, etc. So, there was something for everyone. And, man, was it good! 4) Staff: Whatever level is above "gold" or "platinum", that is the level of the resort staff. I would even go so far as to say they are God-like. Ms. Faura (front desk) has to be the most accommodating, patient, and kind person - EVER. I don't think she knows how to say "no". No matter what the challenge is, she is extremely helpful and has the most upbeat, positive attitude, I have ever seen. Danny G (mentioned earlier), who is the entertainment director, goes way above and beyond the call of duty. He helped me and my kids find conch shells as souvenirs, and even helped us clean them (so they wouldn't stink on the ride home). He loves talking about San Pedro (he is a local), and his knowledge of things is encyclopedic. That, combined with his energy and friendly disposition makes him absolutely a joy to be around. Adding to this is Mr. Ken - the manager. It spoke absolute volumes that, one day when it absolutely poured down rain, he got out the mop bucket and was cleaning the floor himself. He wasn't ordering anyone - but was simply leading from the front. This kind of attitude is almost extinct: I have never seen the on-site manager of a resort doing much other than ordering other people around. So, to see Mr. Ken do this was amazing. Add to this, that Mr. Ken seems to be omni-present. We saw him at 7AM and 10PM and all times in between. How he is there all the time and ALWAYS has super smile and warm greeting is beyond me. Not to mention the fact that he is always asking what he can do to make your stay better. These three people (Ms. Faura, Danny G, and Mr. Ken) are truly what make the resort so special. And, they alone would be enough of a reason for me to come back..... 5) General: As previously mentioned, the town is about 1.5 hours away by golf cart. Golf carts are the only legitimate mode of transportation on the island, as the roads are not conducive to cars. So, everyone on the island drives golf carts. At the resort, you can rent a golf cart for $100/24hrs. This may sound expensive, but if you rent a golf cart in town ($40/24hrs), you still have to get there and get back ($35 per person cab ride each way). So, it works out. Me and the family LOVED riding the golf cart to town, as it was a small adventure. You can't really get lost as there is only one main road on the island taking you from town center to the resort. Also, the entire island is absolutely safe, so you don't have to worry about personal safety or anything else. Because of this, we rented the golf cart on several occasions and just had a blast going to town, buying souvenirs, etc. It was amazing! So, at the end of the day, this resort was absolutely amazing! If you are looking to be entertained nonstop and day drink between trips to the buffet line, this is not for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a laid back (Jimmy Buffett) resort, which has first class amenities, stellar service, and a location that looks like it came from heaven - this is for you! I cannot recommend highly enough!!!!!
