I feel this hotel operates in bait and switch. I paid $587/night solo occupancy for a swim up suite. If you are in the family section there are only 8 swim-up suites max. I learned the odds were low that anyone would get that type of room and if you did it would only be because your fine print was more powerful than theirs. Not only are the swim-up suites few in number but they are not connected to a large resort pool or swim-up bar as advertised on their website. Checkin was a very long counter of dead-faced frowning front desk workers gaslighting guests that they did not really book the rooms they thought they had paid for. This was true for me, my traveling companions and other unhappy travelers we met during our stay. But don't worry - since you are unhappy they will do you a gigantic favor and try to bump you up for a night or two in the room you paid for. I could go on but it still aggravates me so badly. (I have been coming to Cancun and the immediate area since 1980. It is so convenient from Houston or New Orleans. We came many times during Covid and had great trips staying elsewhere. This decision to level up and stay at a luxury all inclusive was a big fail.) The room was large but the finishes and furniture were not that of a luxury resort. Very basic. One chair in the seating area of my room was an aluminum patio chair. Shower was small. No floor coverings. The food was not good and definitely not luxury level dining. 3/10. Any buffet situation is risky because many guests would use their hands instead of tongs to serve their plates or eat directly in line. I saw people double dipping their chips into the guacamole standing at the serving bar. The buffet restaurant manager was very nice. He told me that he was not allowed to discuss food safety with any of the offending guests and that the hotel did not have a food safety policy addressing food that had been compromised. This is a recipe for disaster or listeria. He was very kind though and at my request a chef made a fresh hot uncontaminated meal for me. I did not eat or drink much on this trip. Upmarket liquor is not available at the pool or beach bars. You have to go inside to the big lobby bar. The workers other than front desk seem to be trying hard to please the guests - friendly, smiling and quick to respond. The common spaces are nice and wide open. They have a booming wedding business which attracted a loud partying adults-only crowd. They have separate adult only pools, bars, etc. behind a chain link fence. The family pool has no view and faces concrete walls. A family guest might as well be swimming at a cheap Vegas resort facing a parking lot wall. Zero view of the sea. So after traveling to Mexico at least every other year in the past 45 years something happened that I did not think possible. I had a terrible vacation and felt totally ripped off. There are many more resorts in a 50 mile radius that are a hundred times better and come in at different price points. Don’t ruin your vacation by staying here. In fact, out of all the trips taken in my lifetime on all but one continent - this was so bad. I am sure management will respond with a gaslighting message of some kind. I don't care. Quit ripping people off. Lower your rates for what you are selling.

Sandra is amazing! Always involved our family and kids in all the activivites. I really appreciate her and everything that she did to ensure the kids and us had a great time!

Ian - tiki bar is the best barman in the resort, he makes great drinks, remembers your order/name and is always friendly and doesn't hunt tips like all other bar staff Alondra, Estrella and Sandra - kids club, kept my kids 15yo and 10yo throughly entertained throughout our 2 week holiday with art and crafts, sports and beach/pool activities. Everyday they went above and beyond ensuring my children were having an amazing time Chef Ruth and Sebastien - a credit to the hotel by ensuring my coeliac son was safely catered for and had amazing tasting food everyday. They also cooked fresh meals daily and nothing was too much for them

Sandra, Star and Alondra from the kids club are so lovely, they go above and beyond with your kids and really do take care of them. I’ve never left my daughter at any kids club before but they exceeded my expectations!! The hotel is awesome in every way! You can tell with the quality of everything!

This was our fifth time at Majestic elegance Costa Mujeres. This time around we booked the family side and brought five of our kiddos and me and my husband so seven people total after we arrived since this is our fifth time at Majestic elegance and we’ve also stayed at the property next-door, Majestic Mirage, we were upgraded to the club level status and able to enjoy all of those amenities when you return to majestic over and over again they go above and beyond when it comes to providing you with extra amenities, hydrotherapy, etc. We had the most amazing people take care of us as always we want specifically point out Efrain at the adult pool bar for providing the best service possible. He took care of not only my husband and myself, but also our children. Juan at the Beachside Grill was amazing every day making seven cheeseburgers and hotdog for us. Bogart at the Japanese restaurant was the best waiter we’ve ever had. He serenaded us with his ukulele. Ivan at the pool bar. Also, there was a sweet lady waiter at the Mexican restaurant. That was amazing . We can’t remember her name. every time we come, we have amazing time and amazing service, which is why we keep booking over and over again. The food is amazing. The people, the amenities. last night we had the fire show which was super fun. The beach is amazing limited sorghum. We truly truly enjoy every minute that we spend at magestic elegance costa mujeres. We have another vacation booked for March already !!!
