We have stayed at this hotel dozens of times when visiting family and friends in Nova Scotia. This time around, we did enjoy our stay and the renovations. We have been staying at your hotel for many years - probably twenty - and were delighted to see that renovation had been done. However, we do have a few observations.
First, the bathrooms now have no place to hang anything. There is no towel rack (the bar under the sink counts only for a hand towel); many travellers use hanging cosmetic cases and these new bathrooms have nowhere to hang them at all. In addition, when we return to normal post-COVID, no one will have a place to hang towels should they decide to partake of your environment program of not laundering towels every day.
Also, the bathrooms have no hook on which to hang a bathrobe. How could this have been overlooked? It's puzzling. The bathrooms also lack wall-mounted magnifying mirrors which seem to now be de rigeur at hotels of this stature when renovations are done.
All of these are things that could be easily rectified.
The new corridor design is appealing and the lighting improved. The restaurant is well-staffed with efficient and personable staff, especially the new server, Steven. He should be going places in this organization.
As always, we enjoyed our stay visiting family and friends and will return. If they can fix these things, we won't have to stay at their new property, The Muir, next time!
Many service related issues
Nov 14, 2021
Many service related issues throughout our stay which were not acceptable. 1) Shower curtain was very dirty with what appeared to be blood stains. On the first day we checked in we complained but were told it was to late and someone would follow up - no one did 2) In room dining was impossible to reach and when they did take an order it took a min of 1hr to get delivery every time 3) At checkout we called down to request someone to bring us a luggage cart and were rudely told due to covid the hotel is not offering bell services - yet all we wanted was someone to bring us the cart so we didn't have to go down again we were told no one could help when we went down to get it ourselves three employees were chatting away at the front desk - disappointing service overall. Notified the hotel of the above concerns and received a generic "thank you for your feedback" email, not up to Marriott standards at all.
