Lovely visit with minor problems
travelertips22 (Saint Louis, Missouri) on Jul 20, 2024
No ventilation in bathroom that we could find. Made it awkward for morning bathroom visits. And may not be up to safety codes. Bar staff were the best. Friendly efficient and quick. Drinks were tasty and dishes clean. Checkin was excellent. However I was charged a 100 fee for credit card hold and not sure 7 days later if it has been credited back to me.
Good hotel in excellent location

Nice hotel in a very good location. Customer service was okay - had to go searching for information about the pool, gym and parking. Not enough outlets for charging things in the rooms. But overall the hotel is quite nice, no real complaints.
Expensive and somewhat fancy hotel

The staff was amazing!! Bellboys were amazing too. Very helpful and kind. Me and my three friends all chipped in for a weekend stay. Three had a room together and one his own room. His room was a queen bed and had space, our room were two double beds and had no space. We were always tripping over and bumping into each other. The bathroom was very small and no room to move around. We never had a microwave to heat up leftovers. Breakfast wasn’t included either. There were a lot of fees too. My friends had andriod phones and their internet sucked. But if they paid $9 a day, it would be better for them. I have an iPhone and my wifi was fine. There were a few stains on our floor too. The beds were very comfy though and we all slept well. The hot tub and pool were also nice. The hotel is close to different restaurants, bars, and shops. The water front is walking distance too.
Great hotel with great service and great staff!

Great hotel! Great service! Great staff! Comfortable bed and great bar and breakfast space. Wish they had a rooftop bar (versus the one in the parking lot). Pool/spa was quiet and no kids! Best location in downtown Halifax and on the water. Try it!
Not as good as expected

This was a long hoped for stay at the Nova Scotian having stayed at other hotels in Halifax on previous trips and visited the hotel to collect cars etc.. Sadly left a little disappointed for a number of reasons including: Feeling the hotel needs a refresh - perhaps to now give a contemporary feel, an injection of life/colour as the overall ambience was depressing (and i am not that colorful!). minor issues with the room (inevitable wash basin slow draining etc). But most annoying was the noisy party occurring after midnight in the suite area on our floor more so the lack of empathy form front desk clerk on check out the following morning! Unlikely to recommend or return in the future and that really saddens me for a Marriott Bonvoy destination.
