Sleeping with bugs

I had the absolute worst experience, when I get to my room I notice there is paint chipping away at the walls. The smoke detector was literally hanging out of the walls, dust was on the outlet, the shower handle was corroding, stains on the couch and curtains, oh and I found three roaches! One above the microwave and two in the restroom. When I went down to the lobby to ask for a different room the front desk lady was absolutely rude. She rolled her eyes when I explained what I was dealing with then proceeded to downgrade me to a half decent room. It was the first time I’ve been to Hawaii and I’m very saddened this is what I experienced.
Positive Experience

Maria at check-in was very friendly and made the check-in process very easy and was able to get my room ready for an early arrival. Overall, I had a great experience, with the deluxe suite I stayed in. The room was clean and very affordable. I would definitely come back to the Aqua Aloha on a future visit.
Solo trip

location was great. my purpose for the trip was a change of scenery. property was close to a place for a great morning walk right outside, walking distance to restaurants and waikiki beach. i have all access to CorePower Yoga and the property is a short drive to either Ward or Kahala. property was perfect for me. its well maintained. Ice machine, filtered water, massage, and bar are all in the lobby area. paid parking available for a daily fee.

Neither this hotel nor their parent company, Aqua-Aston are BBB accredited. AVOID at all costs! TLDR; Shady business practices like hidden fees. I originally booked this hotel through a package deal at Priceline. Prior to booking, I was shown information such as 24/7 check-in (which I needed due to my late flight arrival time) and that the price was all inclusive of taxes and fees. After booking, which was non-refundable, I come to find a message from the hotel that check-in after 9 PM is not possible. I contacted the hotel to coordinate and came to find out there is a resort fee of $40 per night. This was not part of the original terms I signed for on Priceline. After contacting a supervisor at Priceline, they confirmed that there was indeed false advertising. Both Priceline and I ended up speaking to the manager, Maria, who absolutely refused to refund me or Priceline. Come on, if this was a legitimate business, would they be this desperate to refuse a proper refund? Insane! This property, Maria, and the whole Aqua-Aston company suck harder than a succubus. AVOID!
Perfect location and price

My husband and I had a great time in Hawaii. This hotel was reasonably priced (so i could spend my money on shopping, excursions, food, etc) perfect location (near shopping, beach, great restaurants within walking distance), nice staff, especially Jenevah. I would definitely come back and stay here! Mahalo!
