Returing Guests Have No Value...

Cheryl L (Welland, Canada) on Feb 11, 2024

We have stayed many times at this resort since 2012 and have loved this little boutique resort... We stayed Jan 30-Feb 6/24 this year and another great time... The food was very good, always something to eat & plentiful.. We enjoyed an amazing oaxacan night of food, it was so good!.. The service at the resort was great.. The beach club was good as always. The only recommendation that I would make is that if you want a spot on the beach with a palapa then get the 1st bus to the beach club.. As we have always done, we have requested a particular road street terrace room and for many years have been accommodated.. However, upon checking in this time, we were promptly told that for our next stay we will have to pay $300 pesos a night for our room in future to have a road terrace... We were quite shocked!! Many of the regular return vacationers were shocked too & we were all quoted different rates... This is a completely unacceptable way to be treated for faithful return guests!! We were told that this decision was made by the new sales directer, who I asked the front desk repeatedly to speak with and was never given the opportunity to address this with him... So... Im guessing that those of us who are faithful and repeat guests have no value to this resort... It was very interesting to see that many nationals (right beside our room and further down) were given a terrace road room... I've got to wonder, did they pay extra.. I doubt it... Now, unfortunately, we will have to rethink about returning to this resort.. That has been the general consensus of the returning guests...

Will be back

bdfritz (Ontario, Canada) on Feb 03, 2024

I am giving this little resort 5 star for our experience keeping in mind that it is a 3 star property. We have been travelling to all inclusive resorts since they came into being and have finally found what we are looking for. We realized fancy doesn’t mean anything to us at this point in our lives. We like to travel a few times a year and now the searching is over.. Our room was on the 2nd floor in the new wing but from what we saw, the older part is just as nice. No odour, firm comfy beds, modern well equipped bathroom and small balcony. Very clean and compact but serves your needs. We didn’t have to resort to eating out for the week we were there and found the food quite acceptable. Not gourmet by any means but very well done up and always fresh. We loved the lobby bar and visited it every evening. Very upbeat and lots going on. The resort is not sleepy by any means. Margaritas are stellar!!! The staff are phenomenal and will do anything to please you. We loved the beach club with its wide sandy beach. My only negative complaint here are the plastic loungers. They are brutal to try and relax on. A few of the return guests have clued in and brought a self blow up lounge pad which we will be ordering before our return trip in the spring. They fit quite nicely in your carry on and weigh less than two pounds. I might mention also that there is a shortage of palapas so you need to get there early to get your spot. We didn’t go to the beach club pool but it looked very busy. We always walked before the first shuttle at 9:30 but this is not a must. Lovely walk at an average pace takes takes about 15 minutes. Thank you Hotel Castillo for making this our new home away from home. See you soon.
